The Elven Rebel and the King under the Mountain - Thorin x Reader

As the daughter of King Thranduil of the Woodland Realm, (Y/n) was expected to do and comport herself in a certain manner, but that was not (Y/n); compared to other elleth (Y/n) was battle hardened, an elf that had been born to be a warrior, and that is all she wanted.

Her father had tried to force her to be a princess, but all his efforts had just made her rebel all the more. He had hoped that if he found (Y/n) a husband it would soften her, but she had turned away every suitor, in truth, scaring most of them away, for she knew that as long as she did not marry she could remain in her father's army and fight.

(Y/n) looked different to all other elleths; her breasts were full and hips wide, her figure was stockier, broader and more well defined due to the heavy sword she wielded, a sword that she had specially commissioned from an expert Dwarven armourer, and she always wore leather armour whether she was in battle or not, and just to annoy her father a little more, she had cut her long white hair short. No one could deny that (Y/n) was still as beautiful as any other maiden, but her skin was tanned due to the time you spent on the battlefield, her only imperfection was a scar on your right cheek, a souvenir of a fight she had had against ten orcs; many of the other elves, including your father, found her appearance troubling, but (Y/n) cared nothing for their opinions.

(Y/n) strode towards the throne room having been called for by her father, surely, she thought, he had given up on his attempts to marry her off by now, but she knew Thranduil was too stubborn to give up, and would probably continue to force suitors on for many more centuries to come.

As she arrived at her father's throne room, the guards nodded their heads and pushed open the large doors, allowing (Y/n) to stand in front of her father dressed in her usual armour with her helmet under your arm.

"Ada, you called for me?" (Y/n) said, addressing the king with a deep bow.

Thranduil looked down from his throne. "(Y/n), why must you insist on wearing your armour? You are a princess you should dress like one." Thranduil said angrily as he looked down at his rebellious offspring.

(Y/n) shook her head. "Is this the only reason you called me here ada? To complain at the fact, I don't wear a gown! When you called for me, I was training. I must wear the armour so that it becomes like a second skin and I do not notice it in battle." (Y/n) huffed, ignoring the deep growl from her father.

"You should no longer be fighting; you should be married, and I should have grandchildren. I need heirs to my throne." Thranduil complained, crossing his arms indignantly over his chest.

Moving closer to the throne, (Y/n) continued to glare at her father. "The job to provide you with grandchildren falls to Legolas, even though we are twins, he is your heir. Why don't you marry him off and force him to stop fighting?" (Y/n) told her father watching as he slowly rose from his throne; but before he could speak, (Y/n) interjected.

"I am the General of your army, I am the best swordsman and archer that you have, and I will not give all that up to marry some spoilt elven prince who couldn't find his own backside without the help of a manservant." (Y/n) scoffed, furrowing her brow as a rare small smile graced her father's lips.

"You are so much like your mother, the same fire in your eyes when you speak about something you are passionate about." Thranduil said softly, as he walked over to his daughters' side and placed his hand on her shoulder.

"(Y/n), you're right, you were meant for something other than a life in a palace, your mother would have been so proud of the elleth that you have become, I am proud of the elleth you have become." Thranduil told a shocked (Y/n), as the two looked at one another.

Before (Y/n) could enquire as to what had made the King change his mind, a Captain of the Guard pushed his way into the throne room.

"M...my apologises your majesty." The Captain stuttered out, as he bowed his head to the King, before he turned his attention to (Y/n).

"General, we have had reports that there is a band of dwarves in the Mirkwood forest." The ellon said, as (Y/n) placed her helmet on her head and turned back towards her father.

"I'm sorry your majesty I must go." (Y/n) told her father, bowing respectfully as she turned and walked out of the throne room with the captain following behind her.

"Where is my brother?" (Y/n) asked the Captain, as the two made their way through the great halls.

"Prince Legolas is being sent for as we speak General, he should meet us at the stables." The Captain informed her, as he tried to keep up with the formidable princess.

"Good, do you have my weapons?" (Y/n) enquired, smiling to herself as the other elleth and ellon parted to make way for her.

"They've been sent straight to the stables. Do you need anything else General?" The Captain asked, as they left the palace, the stables coming into sight.

"No. If it's only a band of Dwarves then they should be easily subdued. I'm more interested in knowing why they are in our forest." (Y/n) growled, as they got to the stables, her horse already saddled with her weapons in place.

"Brother, are you ready?" (Y/n) queried, as Legolas suddenly appeared, grabbing his bow and jumping into his saddle.

"I'm always ready, sister." Legolas smiled, the two twins racing out of the city and towards the forest, followed by a number of guards.

Within what seemed like moments, the royal pair and their entourage were deep in Mirkwood, moving into the trees as they heard a heated commotion, their eyes falling on the group of dwarves fighting the giant spiders.

(Y/n) silently indicated for the guard to take out the spiders, leaving her and Legolas to head towards to dwarves, the pair both with bows drawn as (Y/n) pointed her arrow at the head of the dwarf that had been shouting out orders.

"STOP RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE AND DROP YOUR WEAPONS!" (Y/n) ordered the group, the dwarf in front of her turning around to stare at her.

He looked different to most dwarves she had encountered; he was taller than most and stood with a regal bearing. He was strangely, and exceptionally handsome with a long brown beard and tussled brown locks. His shoulders were broad, and (Y/n) could see the muscles in his arm tense as he kept hold of his sword, (Y/n) pulling back her draw string a little further, annoyed at his defiance.

"I said drop your weapons, don't make me do anything you'll regret, handsome." (Y/n) said, smirking as he spluttered, his regal bearing dropping for a moment until he regained his composure, finally dropping his sword, and the rest of the dwarves following suit.

"You are all trespasser in this forest, who are you and why are you here?" (Y/n) asked, looking over the rag tag group, finding herself growing angry as the dwarf in front of her crossed his arms defiantly.

"I do not feel the need to explain myself to a slip of an elven girl like you." He huffed, seeming to smirk, as the elleth in front of him seemed to grow angrier yet more intrigued.

With a chuckle, (Y/n) handed her bow to the guard next to her and removed her helmet.

"I am (Y/n), princess of Mirkwood, daughter of King Thranduil, and commander of his armies." (Y/n) said stepping closer to the dwarf.

"And I can assure you dwarf, that I am no mere slip of an elven girl. Now you will tell me who you are, or I can assure you that the spiders will be the least of your worries." (Y/n) said, grinning at him as she waited for his reply.

"Very well dwarf, if this is how you want it. GUARDS! Escort the prisoners to the palace and throw them into the dungeons. My father will deal with them later." (Y/n) shouted out, the other guards moving to take the other dwarves.

Slowly (Y/n) moved to the dwarf's side, close enough so that her mouth was next to his ear. "I can assure you that you will tell me what I want to know handsome, and we can do it the easy way or the hard way." (Y/n) told him, before she moved away, winking at him as he was pushed over towards the rest of his group.

Once the dwarves had been moved far enough away, Legolas stomped over towards his sister. "(Y/n), why did you speak to that dwarf in such a manner? You know father would not approve." Legolas asked, shocked at what (Y/n) had said.

"Brother, you of all ellon should know that whatever I do, I do not do it for the approval of our father. The dwarf is arrogant and far too confident, he needed to know who his betters are. And Legolas, you may be my slightly older brother and heir to the throne, but may I remind you that out here I am your superior officer and I do not have to explain my motives to you." (Y/n) told him, chuckling to herself as he marched off grumbling under his breath.

                                                         >>------------------------------<<

Night had fallen by the time the group had got back to the great city. "Take the dwarves to the dungeons but leave the little one here with me." (Y/n) ordered, smiling down at the little creature before her, as the guards removed the dwarves.

"Please sit down, you look tired." (Y/n) said, as she removed her helmet and smile at him, the little man looking hesitantly at the spot next to the elleth.

"You're a Hobbit, are you not?" (Y/n) asked, patting the seat next to her, trying to encourage the shocked looking halfling.

"What's your name? It's not polite for me continue to call you Hobbit." (Y/n) pushed gently, hoping to encourage the Hobbit to speak.

"My name if Bilbo Baggins, m'lady." He told her nervously, bowing slightly.

"How do you know I'm a Hobbit? I can't image that you have ever seen my kind before." Bilbo asked, as he looked into her deep blue eyes.

"Well Master Baggins, it is a pleasure to meet you. And please do sit, I promise no harm will come to you." (Y/n) said, happy that the young Hobbit had finally settled by her side.

"I have actually met Hobbits before, unlike most of my brethren I have travelled outside of this kingdom. I found Hobbits to be generous, kind, brave and intelligent, and highly underrated by most others in Middle Earth; so given all these virtues, please Master Baggins tell me why you and the dwarves find yourself in my father's kingdom." (Y/n) asked, looking down at the nervous Bilbo.

"It is not my place to tell you m'lady, you would have to ask Thorin." Bilbo said, looking up suddenly as the elleth next to him gasped and jumped from her seat.

"Thorin? You mean Thorin Oakenshield? I should have known who he was, how could I have been so stupid. The would be King under the Mountain." (Y/n) said with a chuckle, as she sat back down and stare at the Hobbit.

"Tell me Master Baggins, do you know of a wizard called Gandalf the Grey?" (Y/n) enquired, smiling as Bilbo gently nodded his head.

"Gandalf travels with us from time to time, we all know Gandalf well." Bilbo informed her, furrowing his brows as (Y/n) began to laugh.

"Well Master Baggins, a long time ago when I was much younger, Gandalf came to visit our kingdom and he told me something that I have never repeated to another soul. He told me that one day I would find a company of brothers led by a shield of oak, and that my destiny was entwined with this brotherhood. Amongst them would be a little burglar, a Hobbit from the Shire and that it would be my job to protect this little thief, as I was the only one that could ensure that he accomplished his task. I swore that day that I would give my life to protect you. So Master Baggins, I do not know where your quest leads you, but I pledge my sword and bow to you, and will follow you until the end." (Y/n) told him as she bowed her head.

"Now, we just have to get you and your friends out of here. Once we have ensured your escape, I will catch up with you in a few days. Master Baggins, it will be my honour to protect you." (Y/n) said, standing to her feet, offering Bilbo her hand, and leading him off towards the dungeons.
