The Highest of Seas Part 5

Author's Note: Ship. The boys are on a ship. They are sailing away from Captain Cleo. Woah. I'll go to another POV in the next part.

 Grian:

I looked down at Joe's unconscious body. TFC and Captain Tango both said that Joe would be fine, but Impulse and I had our doubts. Joe was curled up under his blanket. TFC had found Joe's spare pair of glasses, but he couldn't find the originals.

Impulse was rubbing his hand after he took the bandages off. It was fully healed, but you could still see the pale purple of bruising. My injuries were still present, but the bruises on my leg were gone, so I could bend them easily without pain.

Doc, TFC, Wels, and Python were up on deck talking with Tango and the Impulse from this world. I honestly find it a bit bizarre that all our counterparts were gone except for Impulse's own.

What is causing this? I know that our main concern is to get back home, but what if it happened to us?

What if it happens to our other counterparts from those other worlds that we've seen?

Impulse looked over at me, " You're concerned about our counterparts from the other worlds?" he questioned with a raise of his eyebrow. I gave him a startled look, " How di-" he stopped me. Impulse leaned back in his chair, " You're mumbling Grian. " he frowned as I leaned into my pillow.

Was I actually mumbling? I didn't hear myself actually doing it....

I looked back over at Impulse as he pressed the palm of his hand. The hermit twitched slightly as he let out a sigh. The two of us looked at each over then at the stairs as someone sneezed. Impulse straightened up in his chair and pulled out his diamond sword from his inventory.

The Impulse from this world, who had a scar running down from his eye to his neck, stepped out of the shadows. He looked at his counterpart nervously and turned towards me.

" Captain Tango and your friends wish to see the two of you." pirate Impulse crossed his arms behind his back and stood straight up. The two of us nodded at the counterpart and stood up. The pirate Impulse lowered his head as he refused to look at my Impulse as we passed.

Impulse looked at him sadly, " I forgive you." he mumbled as we climbed up the stairs. The pirate Impulse remained on the stairs and sighed as we climbed up onto the top. The Zedaph from this world, who looked like a chef, passed by us and hugged Impulse. Impulse frowned as he looked at me. I nodded at him sadly as we continued to climb.

Upon reaching the deck, I saw Python rubbing at his muzzle while Wels was handing him a bottle of lotion. Python's tongue was flickering in and out as he applied the lotion to his muzzle. TFC and Doc were still talking with Tango, who was fixing his pirate hat and adjusting his telescope.

The two of us walked up to him. Tango turned towards us and smiled, " I see that Impulse got you two up here." he put his telescope away. I nodded as I put my hand over the one in a sling.

Tango looked at my arm; his eyes glowed slightly as he looked out towards the open sea. The demon pirate's tail twitched as he crossed his arms behind his back.

" My crew and I are heading towards the main land. It's where you should find the technology to try and get home. There are plenty of people there that focus on the study of evolution." Tango explained with a nod of his head.

Doc looked at his robotic arm and frowned at it. TFC looked between him and the arm, " Did you somehow manage to get water or sand in it?" he questioned as Doc nodded. Doc's tail twitched as the red lights on his arm lit up.

TFC fixed his glasses, and the two men decided to go down to their room in order to get Doc's arm fixed.

I looked over at Python as he stood up. The red snake snorted, " Those ropes are bloody stupid." he hissed as he gently caressed his muzzle. Wels frowned at him, " You should get some rest Pyth." he shook his head as Python nodded. The snake hybrid walked down the stairs into the lower deck.

Wels, Impulse, and I were now left on the deck with Captain Tango and the other crew members nearby. I looked up at the evening sky as the white stars slowly appeared in the sky. Wels crossed his arms over his chest.

" Do you think that the others know that we're gone?" Wels questioned as he put his hands underneath his chin. Impulse put his hand on the other man's shoulder, " They probably do." he told him with a small smile.

The three of us sighed as Tango came up to us, " You three should sleep. It's going to be a day until we reach the mainland, and you need as much energy as possible in your adventure to get back home." he told us with a nod of his head.

We decided to heed the captain's advice and return to the room we were in. I let out a sigh and laid down in the cot I had been set down in before. I curled up under the blanket and fell asleep.
