Chapter 16: Operation NLH
TheNamesCaitie came up with the idea of the young hermits banning together to postpone their move and I absolutely lost it- 👏
So here's my attempt to make that idea into a reality!

A tiny head peeked from inside the boat. The small figure looked down at the guest, sending them an exaggerating glare. "Password!" Young Ren whispered loudly…
".... Password?"
Ren jumped out of the boat and whispered to Gemini, "The password is Jelly Bread."
"Ohhh."
The young cyborg leaped back into the boat then rested his stomach near the edge. "PasswoRD!" He whispered loudly again.
Another small figure punched Ren's shoulder lightly. "HUSHHHHHH Ren…" False scolded.
"Umm- Jelly Bread!"
"GeMiNi SHHHHHHHH!"
"Sorry."
Ren and False glanced worriedly around the area, but calmed down when their Auntie Cleo didn't notice the loud shushing.
"Quick! Behind the boat." The two, young, hermits dragged poor Gemini inside the boat then tossed her to the other side of the ship.
"Falsey! Ren! No throwing our new friend!"
"XB SHHHHHH! You're too loud!"
"No you're too loud!"
"Everyone shhhhhhhhh…"
All of the kids on the server were cramped in a small area behind the boat. Some sat on the lime wool blocks while others leaned near the walls, shoulders touching that proved that their meeting area was way too small.
Out of nowhere, young Tango reveals himself from the shadows, petting the chicken of Doom quite menacingly. "We can start the meeting…"
"T-That's..my chicken?" Jevin quietly whines.
Xisuma follows behind with the biggest smile on his face, ruining Tango's dark and scary aura. "Operation No leaving home is a go!" He exclaims.
"eh-.. XisumashhhhHhhhhhhhh!"
"No leaving home?"
After sending a quick and lighthearted glare to young X, Tango strolls towards the other hermits and pauses near the middle.
"Our aunties and uncles said that we're having a new home.." the young hermit mutters.
Everyone awed to their disappointment.
"But I don't want to leave our old home!?"
"Me too!"
"Which is why we will stop it!" Tango exclaims as he leaps on top of the boat. "No changing homes! No change!-"
"sHhhhhhhhshshsh-"
Tango continues to ignore Bdubs' shushing.
"I have a plan." Young Tango pulls out a small scroll and rolls down the paper, revealing its crayola-written contents. " To stop the move, we need to make sure that we all stay here forever. Let's trap the daycare!"
Tango rolls up the paper and points his scroll at the two hermits closer to him. "Agent C and Agent F! You distract Auntie Cleo."
Cub and False shared cheeky little smirks.
"Agent I and Agent I! You get lots and lots of books."
Impulse and Iskall stare at each other, confused. "Books?"
" Agent X and B! Collect the slime."
"Yes Sir!" XB exclaims.
"No, not you XB! Agent X and B!
"... Yes Sir?" XB stares confusingly at Tango." I'm XB. I'll go get the slime!"
"NO- I mean!... I mean Xisuma and Bdubs! You two get the slime!"
"But why do we need slime?"
Tango continues to ignore Bdubs once again.
"While you guys do that, me and our other friends will push our boat together and bring it to the door. Then we put all the books and slime together near the door and trap everyone in the daycare so that no one will go to a new home!"
"But our aunties and uncles can break the door?" Mumbo speaks up.
"They can't because everything is blocking the door."
"They have pickaxes." Joe pointed out.
"What's a pickaxe?"
"It breaks stuff."
"Then we steal their pickaxes!"
"But we are doing the plan today?" Impulse asked.
"Then we steal the axe, and do the plan tomorrow. Now they won't break the door!"
"They can use their fist." Cub states back at his tiny fist, waving it around like he was punching someone. "Uncle Wels uses his fist to defeat the bad zombies-"
Young Tango opens his mouth to cover their excuses, but stops when he is at a loss for words…
"The plan won't work.." Gemini confessed. She walks up to poor Tango and pulls him into a hug. "But I think your plan is cool."
"T-Thank you. Gemi. "
"I have another plan." A voice was heard from the crowd of young hermits. Etho stands up from his seat. "What if we steal their purple wings?"
Tango's mood immediately brightened as he leaped towards the young ninja and shook him continuously. "That's a great idea!"
"They won't fly us to our new home!"
"Oh yeahhhh!!"
"But they can use boats." Joe pointed out another flaw to that plan.
Everyone audibly sighs, giving poor Joe a quick glare or two.
"Uncle Grian likes his purple wings." Young Scar replied. Ren nodded in agreement. "He would be sad if he didn't have wings."
It was now Joe's turn to share another plan. "If uncle Grian doesn't have purple wings, then he will try finding it. And if he's busy finding it, then that means we can't leave… What if we steal things they like instead?"
Everyone gasps way too dramatically.
"Joe, that's a good idea!!"
"Tango SHHHHHHHH!!"
"But Joe! I thought you're like the big brother!?" Young Gemini exclaims, trying to reason with one of her new friends. "Taking away things our aunties and uncles like will make them sad!"
Joe crosses his small arms together, avoiding Gemini's scolding gaze. "Well… Auntie Cleo is taking away my home, and that makes me sad."
Young Gemini wanted to retort back, but chose to keep quiet instead. She looked sadly at the young poet.
"Also TFC is older, so he's like our big brother." Joe added.
"Ohh?" Young TFC comments on his statement, almost giving him a reason to finally speak up. "As 'big brother', I say no. I don't want to steal from uncle Keralis." He crosses his arms for dramatic effect.
"Me too.." XB muttered. Half of the young hermits agreed, while others were left questioning if Joe's plan could actually work..
"Then what are we gonna do?" Xisuma asked.
Immediately all eyes were now on Tango. The young blonde was in deep thought, fiddling around with his finger, his face grew dimmer as every second passed. He looked at everyone in the eye and muttered;
"Nothing."
Frowns formed on every single little individual's face as Tango muttered those words.
"So we can't stay here forever?"
Tango nodded.
"Oh.."
"But leaving is scary.."
The pirate corner grew quiet. No one talked, no one shushed, no one dared look at one another as some attempted to wipe away their tears.
"Auntie Cleo said this to me many days ago," Joe paused, catching everyone's attention.
"She said that we are always loved. We will go to far far away places, but we will have good memories of it or something.." Joe pauses again, recollecting his memories from last month.
"Even if we leave our old home forever, we will always remember many happy memories of our old home. We will always remember playing together here…"
"I don't know, I'm not smart like Auntie Cleo-" Joe felt bashful, quickly taking a step back from the center.
"We will still be together when we leave, right?" Iskall asked, glancing nervously at everyone.
"That is a silly question," Young Mumbo huffed. "Of course we will go together. You will always be annoying to me.." Mumbo pouted.
"Good!" Iskall exclaimed, tugging to Mumbo for dear life.
That left a few chuckles from the young hermits.
Young Tango looks back at Gemini, reaching out for the young girl's hand. "Can we go to our new home together?"
Gemini's saddened expression softened to a small slime. She accepts his hand, squeezing it tightly. "Of course! It will be like an adventure!"
"Oooh! I like adventure" Ren exclaimed, grabbing Gemini's other hand. False and Cub followed.
"We can be sad together!" XB exclaimed.
Etho shrugs, grabbing XB's hand. "That sounds very sad.."
Soon enough everyone was all together in one big circle, with their hands linked to one another. "We will go together and make new memories!"
"TANGO SHHHHHHHHH!"
Not all of the young hermits were officially alright with the idea of moving on, but their friends' excitement and company was just enough to make the feeling a bit more bittersweet.
You could say that these young hermits got the best of a worst situation!
After all, not many people just move to a different home and bring their ENTIRE neighborhood with them. So the only thing you'd lose really is the nostalgic comfort of your old home.
But as fortunate as they were to keep their friends with them, moving on from a place you love is still a difficult task.

I actually have a draft of the events that happened after the kids' meeting. It is an alternate version where the young hermits did proceed with Joe's plan to steal the adult hermits' stuff.
It's a short but angsty chapter, and I was wondering if you want me to publish a bonus chapter for that draft.
So… want to read the angsty draft? °^°
