Chapter Forty Two
George's hand trailed over her face, gently caressing her cheek all the while he kept eye contact with her. Her skin was incredibly soft and even in the dim lighting of the night, due to the tears she had shed prior, Judith's eyes were bright and glistening. He leaned in towards her, they were almost so close that their noses were almost touching.
There was no doubt in his mind that he wanted to kiss her in that moment, but he hesitated. He knew that Judith was upset, and in her upset state, she was vulnerable. He certainly didn't want to take advantage of her when she was feeling upset. He went to move his hand from the side of her face, when he felt warmth of her hand rest over his. He couldn't understand how her hands were so warm when it was so cold outside.
"Judith I know you're upset so I don't want to...."
Judith leaned in so that their lips were nearly touching.
"It's okay George." she whispered to him before kissing him gently.
George found himself surprised by Judith's boldness to kiss him first but he was thrilled that she actually kissed him. Both of his hands held the sides of her face, even though it was impossible to hold her any closer. Her hands remained over his as neither one of them broke from the kiss.
Judith could feel her heart pounding in her chest but it was a pleasant feeling. All her worries and pain vanished in the moments she shared with George.
When she pulled away to catch her breath, George wasted no time in bringing her into another.
Fred felt quite accomplished for his work and was excited to tell Judith what he had done when he walked poked his head outside only to find his brother and Judith kissing.
"Oh...it can wait." he said to himself before slipping back inside. "No one go outside!" he yelled into the Burrow.
There was not response.
"Oh right..." he chuckled. "I'm so funny."
Ginny came into the room looking for George and Judith and quickly came to realize they were probably still outside.
"Wait, Ginny, no! Don't do it!" Fred placed himself in front of his younger sister, but she walked right through him.
"Dammit. Why did I think that was going to work?" he sighed. Fred hurried over to something and began to focus his attention on it, in hopes of distracting his sister.
His next object victim was a picture of Ginny, which he figured would capture her attention. He swiped at it causing it to fall to the floor.
Ginny glanced over after jumping nearly a foot in the air, and saw the broken picture frame on the floor.
"Fred?" she called out.
Fred frantically attempted to move all the objects on the shelf to keep Ginny from opening the front door of the Burrow.
"I heard something break." Molly said walking out.
"I think it's Fred, Mum. I think he's trying to tell us something."
"It only took until after I was dead for everyone to start listening to me." Fred grumbled. He kept the women occupied hoping that Judith and George wrapped things up. "I am such a good brother, I swear!"
George pulled away from the kiss allowing both of them to breathe, as he rested his forehead against hers. He chuckled to himself as he heard Judith trying to collect her breath.
"Sorry about that."
Judith let out a light laugh. "No, don't be sorry." she told him. "I don't want you to be sorry. I just want things to be okay, even if its for only a few minutes." she sighed.
"It's going to be alright, Judith. We're not going to let anything happen to you. I'm not going to let anything happen to you."
Suddenly, the door swung open and Ginny came into view with Fred in front of her. He turned around and faced the two waving at Judith.
"Hello."
"Um...Judith, Fred's been moving a whole lot of stuff in here...we just wanted to know if he's okay or if he's just being a pest." Ginny said.
Fred looked offended. "A pest? Really? I'll show you a pest."
"Fred knock it off." Judith smirked.
"I was not being a pest...I was just trying to give you two a private moment." Fred told her.
Judith immediately blushed covering her face.
George looked confused along with Ginny.
"Uh so is Fred okay?" Ginny asked.
"Yeah, he's just fine." Judith answered.
"Mum, Fred's fine. He's just breaking things to break things!" Ginny said as she left back inside.
"I was not!" Fred protested before looking to Judith and heading back inside.
"I feel like I'm missing something." George said.
"Fred...saw us."
"Saw us...oh! Oh...." George grinned. "Well that's not the worse thing...it could be much worse."
"Much worse?"
"We could have been doing other things."
Judith laughed as she pushed him away and left inside the Burrow.
"Well, I didn't think it was that funny."
