Chapter-12 Hanging out

In ten days, I'll turn eighteen. I am excited as well as a bit scared about it. I remember my mother telling me about how pure blooded were blessed with mates and how we'll find them once the younger one turns eighteen.
If my mate hasn't turned eighteen yet then I won't be able to find my mate when I turn eighteen. But I know that won't be the case and I will find my mate in ten days.
What if he is another greedy warlock who gives away my identity?
Zendaya performed a spell on me, does that mean it'll stop my mate from finding me too?
Though a part of me is scared, I wanted my happy ending with my mate too. I know how sacred mates are.
Stop dreaming and concentrate on the reason you are here Mae.
Day two of my drawing class. I am here to learn. Yes.
Today to my utter surprise Teddy acknowledged me, aka greeted me back when I wished him a good morning. Fine, I more like bribed him with candy to respond to me.
Either way, soon Teddy will become my friend.
I'll charm him one way or the other.
Lunch with Elijah went terrible. I don't know what was going on in his brain or what made him occupied but he doesn't get to show his mood swings on me and expect me to play along with it.
Who cares, the debt is paid and I am either way not going to see him again. Liar.
Okay, a part of me was a bit curious about him, still is curious but I won't let that curiosity as an excuse tolerate the way he behaved.
I know I've tolerated worse before but that was because I needed a job and money. But this, he is the one who agreed to lunch.
"Good morning class," my drawing teacher's voice cut me off from my thoughts. "Today we are going to work on oil pastels as Teddy wanted. I hope you have all the materials you need?"
All of us nodded our heads. I love this class, I feel like a kid again. It's like I am reliving whatever was taken away from me.
My life seems to get better and I am enjoying it.
As expected, she started teaching about the history of oil pastels and how we should blend them to make perfect portraits. She handed us each a scrap paper to blend the crayon.
"You have three images in front of you, choose one and try to draw it only using the oil pastels. Remember, we are not here to judge, we are here to experiment and learn."
She moved aside and sat at her table, letting us on our own. There were three images, each one unique with its own flavor. One is a fruit basket with a few colorful fruits in it. The second is an ocean with the sun rising behind the mountain. And the third is a complicated modern art which had minute details and paints perfectly blended.
I decided to go with the medium one. Mountain is too kiddish and the other looks too complicated. Fruit basket is on my level.
Twenty minutes later, I was done with the basic outline, which looked more or less like the one on the screen. Then I took the red oil pastels to color my apple.
A few minutes into it, frustration bubbled into me at how bad my coloring was. No, color blending, it looked worse than garbage with colors all uneven. I frowned and started crushing that paper to draw another one when I realized I am drawing in a notebook.
"You haven't made any mistake on coloring," a tiny voice spoke next to me.
That's when I realized Teddy was looking at my miserable attempt to draw.
"What?" a frustrated groan came from me. I immediately felt bad for snapping at the little kid who was trying to help.
Teddy decided to speak with me and I snapped at him.
What the hell Mae?
"Sorry," I pouted holding my ears. His mouth lifted into a small smile.
"You've colored it right. The only mistake you are doing is blending the colors in a wrong way, here" he moved his chair next to me to help.
My face brightened up like the sun as I realized this was the longest sentence Teddy had ever spoken to me.
See, I told you, no one can stay away from my charms. I am a children's magnet.
"Thank you," I mumbled moving my stuff so that he can help.
With a carefree shrug, he started helping me, teaching me how to blend the colors. And wow, this guy is indeed a Picasso, a genius. He was filled with patience when he showed me how to blend my colors.
He moved the scrab paper and handled it like a precious metal. Now it makes sense why Gerald was so stubborn on enrolling Teddy here. He loves art indefinitely.
Once he made sure I am comfortable, he started working on his modern art like it's the easiest thing to do. The whole class got over in a blink of time. Though it was my first time experimenting, I drew decently. And from how much I loved this class, I think I might love drawing in general, irrespective of what I use.
"Gerald," I stopped him and Teddy once we are out of our class.
"My aunt wanted to invite my drawing class friends for dinner, please don't say no," I breathed out fast.
Last night when I told Zendaya about my day, she wanted me to invite my friends for dinner so that we could bond more. When I asked her why she smiled saying that's what humans do to thicken their friendship.
And if Zendaya wants my friends' home, who am I to say no?
He let out a soft laugh, "you don't have to worry about us kiddo, we'll come. I am sure Teddy would be tired of my cooking by this time, a little change would be great," his eyes twinkled as he looked at Teddy.
A lot of conclusions bubbled in my head for what he meant by those sentences but I locked it up before I make wrong assumptions.
"What's your favorite Teddy? My aunt is a great cook," I scrunched down to talk with my new buddy who warmed up to me.
"I don't have one," he shook his head. He put on his mask again. Oh, Teddy.
"Come on, now that makes me sad. I want to make something delicious for you, tell me what you want, my aunt will make it for you," I pouted as he looked at my face, wondering whether I am bluffing or I meant it.
He thought for a minute before he answered. "Lasagne and chocolate cake," his voice came out like a whisper.
"Then Lasagne and chocolate cake it is," I grinned before giving Gerald all the details.
"See you tonight then," I ruffled Teddy's hair and left my favorite duo with a smile.
God, life's getting better every passing day. I miss my parents. If they'd been alive, this would've been my life since the moment we came.
Anyway, the past is past. My parents won't want me to dwell on it and hurt myself. I have to live, if not for me, at least for them, for their sacrifice.
When I asked Zendaya how safe it is for me to make human friends, she laughed at me saying to have faith in her magic. And that confirmed my theory. She indeed performed some strong magic on me, to protect me.
I will always be grateful for that.
She gave me something that I always wanted. A normal life, where I can make new friends without the fear of being caught by one of my kind.
"Maezy," Cas's voice echoed behind me.
"Cas," my smile widened as I found him walking towards me.
Casteel is a charmer. We became close friends just from the conversation we had yesterday. He was respectful, nice, and easy-going. Having a conversation with his as easy as scribbling on the notepad.
During our whole conversation, he didn't ask any questions that would make me feel uncomfortable nor kept dwelling on the things that I didn't wish to answer. Throughout the whole conversation, he made sure that I was comfortable.
"And there she is my new best friend," he chuckled.
"Cas, are you free tonight?" I blurted out biting my lip.
When I told Zendaya about the favorite duo, I also mentioned Casteel. She is happy that I made friends with someone near my age. She said having friends my age will teach me to have fun the way human kids have. And I growled back at her since she very much called me boring indirectly.
"Even if I am busy, I will make time for my favorite best friend," he put his hands on my shoulders as I hit his stomach.
"Ow woman," he rubbed the spot as if I hurt him. Overdramatic idiot.
"We became friends just yesterday and now I am your favorite friend? God Cas who taught you to lie?" I smiled giving him a pointed look.
Not going to lie, Casteel rubbed himself all over me the first time we met. He is this cheerful person who always lights up the mood.
As they say, you don't need months to make friends.
"What's special about tonight Mazy?" he put his hands on my shoulder again as we started walking.
"My aunt wants me to invite my friends for dinner," I smiled as I gave him the details.
"I'll come but on one condition," he looked serious all of a sudden.
"And what is that?" I frowned not knowing what he is up to.
"You should promise to hang out with me this afternoon and then we'll go to dinner together. I know you, my Maezy. You are free so don't make excuses," he wiggled his eyebrows with a grin.
God, this guy.
"Of course, Cas," I warmed up at his response.
Zendaya didn't put any curfew for me. She let me be free as long as I messaged her my plans. And I did just that. I told her I had plans with Cas and asked her to cook the chocolate cake and Lasagne for Teddy.
Now I am going to have my first outing experience like humans my age.

A/N: I am so happy that my baby is finally happy. Screaming in pain at the realization of what's waiting for her.
Hehe... Is that a spoiler?
