Chapter 23- Searching for Crimes

You watched through your window at the sight of the Krew and the air children. They were staying at the Air Temple for a while, and you were glad they were able to stay. The more the merrier Pema would always say.

"Little One, may I come in?" A knock and the voice of Tenzin was heard, which made you call out in agreement. He opened the door and smiled at you.

"Would you like to accompany Korra and I to see the new chief of police?" That made your ears peek up and jump off your bed.
"Yeah! I want to see who is going to be almost as good as Sifu Metal Lord!" You gave a toothy grin, making Tenzin melt a little.

It really was true about what his father said about you. Your smile truly made everyone's day.

"Come on, Little One, we don't want to be late,"

You were in your human form, standing between Korra and Tenzin, holding their hands as Saikhan stood on a pedestal in front of the crowd.

"It was an honor serving under Chief Beifong for so many years and I wish her a speedy recovery. It is with great humility that I take her place as the new Chief of Police. Republic City is facing a threat like none the world has ever seen but there is one man who's been effective against Amon's revolution, Councilman Tarrlok," Saikhan spoke out.

"That is why for all matters involving the Equalists, I will report directly to him. The police department will lend any and all available resources to the councilman and his task force until we quell this insurgency," Your furrowed your eyebrows, not liking that speech.

"What is that weasel snake Tarrlok up to now?" Korra mumbled. The interview was over, and you three walked up to Tarrlok.
"Tarrlok, I don't know what you did to get Chief Saikhan in your pocket but I highly doubt it was legal," Tenzin accused.

"Oh, Tenzin. Always the conspiracy theorist. Did you ever consider Saikhan simply recognizes my talents and wants what is best for this city?" Tarrlok asked with a condescending smile, and you wished you could deck him.

"Well, Avatar Korra. Long time, no see. Now that your little pro-bending distractions are over, I look forward to your return to my task force," He offered, but Korra snarled.
"Ha! Forget it! There's no way I'm rejoining your vanity project," She firmly placed her foot down.

"That is unfortunate to hear, but I'm sure you'll come to your senses as you have in the past," Tarrlok frowned, but soon smiled.
'This human is going to get doused in lava in a minute,' You thought.

"Don't hold your breath, bub. You know, Tenzin's been right about you all along. You played me, you played Beifong, and now you're playing the new Chief too," Korra walked up in Tarrlok's face.

"Well, I got news for you. You need me, but I don't need you. I'm the Avatar," She huffed.
"You're not, in fact, the Avatar. You are merely a half-baked Avatar in training, which reminds me, how is your airbending going? Made any significant progress with that?" Tarrlok smirked, making Korra back off and frown in shame.

"I didn't think so. If you will not be part of my task force, then you had best stay out of my way," He scoffed and turned away, but not before looking back.
"And you should have your little cousin around your adventures, it might be... too dangerous," And with that, he walked off.

Tenzin pushed you back out of instinct, as Korra turned back to face you both.

"Come on, let's go,"

After the interview, you realized that Korra wasn't spiritually connected with the air element, and offered your self taught lessons.

Nighttime fell, and your ears twitched at the sound of people talking outside. Looking out, you see the Krew sneaking around, and you immediately knew something was about to go down.

You silently walked downstairs, covered in your blanket, and saw them get on Naga.
"Get ready, Republic City. You are about to be patrolled by Team Avatar," Bolin whispered, patting his bicep.

"Sifu Vatar, what are you doing?" You quietly asked, yawning as you walked up to them.
"Ah, Little One!" Korra jumped and whirled around to face you.
"Uhh, well... you see, spirit! We- uhh," Bolin stammered, but you just gave a snort.

"Relax, I'm no snitch. I just want to make sure you don't die while chasing after chi blockers," You grinned, still wrapped around in your blanket.
"How'd you know?" Asami asked you.

"I'm a spirit, you can't hide things from me," You stuck your tongue out, making them smile
"All right, Let's ride," Korra smashed her fist against her other hand.
"Naga away!" They all got onto Naga, but the animal was too tired, so made them fall off of her.

"All right, scratch that. Any other ideas?" Korra coughed awkwardly.
"Hmm. I think I have the answer," Asami smirked, and after a while, she came back with a sato mobile.

"You think this'll do?" She asked, which made you smile and wag your tail.
"I like the new Team Avatar's style," Bolin said as you all got into the mobile.

"I haven't properly seen one of these since I first got here, they're so easy to crush," You smiled nonchalantly, making the Krew look at each other with slight confusion and worry as Asami continued driving.

"We gotta talk about what happened that day later," Bolin said with glee, wanting to hear how you crushed a sato mobile.
"Unit two sixteen, cancel that ten fifty-eight at Harmony Tower. Come back to the station, over," a voice was heard in the radio of the mobile.

"My dad had police scanners installed in all of his cars. I guess now I know why," Asami bitterly said.
"Calling all units, Level Four Alert. Jailbreak at headquarters. Officers down, electrocuted. Chi-blockers and Equalist convicts are still at large armed and dangerous," You sniffed the air, trying to catch any bad auras.

"Last seen heading east. I repeat, Level Four Alert. Equalist jailbreak!" And with that, the vehicles sped past by.
"Chi-blockers!" Bolin cried out.
"That's them!" Mako shouted.

"Let's get 'em!" Korra commanded. Asami sped behind the chi blockers, just as a truck drove by, the chi blockers ducked underneath.
"Korra! Bolin! Give me a ramp! Now!" The two did just that, and you all flew over the truck.

Mako managed to take down one as Bolin took down another. The remaining chi blockers shot out some smog to lose your trail. You eyes easily had no affect from the smog, and Asami said to get a ramp to make a turn.

"They don't know we made the turn. Okay, get ready," She warned, and soon ran over the chi blockers. The got into the mobile, where Korra and Mako took them out. Asami got closer to the vehicle, and you stood up from your spot.

"I got this," You grinned, jumping over the hood of the vehicle, and leaping forward. Skidding across the pavement, you stood in front of the road as the truck kept on driving, the Krew shouting at you to stop. You simply held one hand forward, and as soon as the vehicle came into contact, you crushed the front with ease.

Only scooting back a little, the vehicle came to a sudden stop and a jerk, flinging the driver and knocking him out. Asami stopped the mobile, and the Krew got out of the mobile in shock.

"I told you it was easy to crush these," You beamed with pride as Bolin was silently squealing with excitement. The cops and news soon came in as you all tied up the convicts.

"Avatar Korra, spirit, what do you think you are doing?" Tarrlok demanded when he saw you and Korra.
"Oh, hey Tarrlok. Nice of you to show up finally. Here, we captured the escaped convicts for you," Korra smugly told him.

"What you did was tear up the city and impede the real authorities in their pursuit of these criminals," He retorted, looking around at the whole scene.
"I could fix that so problem," You scoffed and began to fix the roads.

"Hmm, that's funny. I didn't see your little task force or the cops the whole time. If it wasn't for Team Avatar, they would've gotten away," Korra shrugged and crossed her arms.

"This is your last warning. Stay out of my way!" He threatened, and stormed away. His aura around him began to darken, making your growl a little, tail flicking angrily.
"Nothing but a no good, prissy, ponytail human," You hissed.
