Chapter 5: Loss of a Speedster Child!

Frost Star's Personal Observation:

I stood alone within the confines of my sub zero chamber, and I was looking at a portal that was trying to open up to my Earth, to my dimension, but the portal was weak and was not able to connect to my world...at least not yet anyway. It frustrated me to no end, even know I knew I had to be patient and wait for it to open. Besides, I wasn't the one who was going to use it anyway...

I soon heard of someone entering the room, turning to see my most trusted ally leaning against the nearest wall looking at what I was doing. "Don't you know it's rude to not knock first?" I jested, smirking a little bit. "Don't you know it's just as rude to keep secrets to those you trust?" my ally said in response, adding a joke to my jest as if we were trying to play a game of one-up on one-another. I allowed myself a chuckle before looking back at the portal, speaking of what I was doing as I continued to do some work on my console.

"I'm trying to make the portal between our Earth and this one more stable...but working with tech that's damaged is the least of the my concerns. At best with what I have currently I can make the portal appear and disappear for a time but that's about it. Nobody can travel through the portal, let alone anything...well, not unless you want several body parts in different dimensions. If I can get better tech parts to fix this thing or the portal device thing I can make it work. Other than that, there's nothing better to do than stick to the mission..."

Tech wasn't my forte, per say, however I had enough holographic devices with instructions from different dimensions to make things work. One of the best parts of being related to a former scientist...or 2 of them...My ally though was confused by something, I could tell, and soon voiced the confusion. "If you needed better tech parts, then why did you not grab any when you were "captured" in S.T.A.R. Labs, or when you were at the docks when you were dealing with our scheming little traitor?" It was a valid question, no denying that.

"Because they would know that their tech was missing if I had taken anything, and I didn't start on getting these working until after I introduced myself to Flash and his team. Plus I had already scanned the area at the docks before dealing with the traitor, there was nothing worth salvaging or stealing that could help with my tech. But I'll get the parts, eventually...not even dad can stop that." I explained as I turned towards my ally, raising a hand up as I began to form icicles in my hand, not to use as weapons but to lose myself in the simplicity and beauty of it.

"You know, I didn't learn my powers through my mum...I had to self teach myself since I was young because we got separated. But when we were with each other she taught me everything she knew to help me survive, to become as ruthless as she was..." I chuckled humorlessly as I crushed the icicle in my hand with ease, tiny pieces of the icicle falling down to the floor below. "The ironic thing was that there was only 2 people that Killer Frost, mum, ever cared about: me and Savitar, even though he was a jerk to her when she wasn't aware of it...and there was only one person she cared enough that she wanted to protect, to not kill..."

"That was you, wasn't it?" my ally asked me, to which I nodded with a humorless chuckle. "Yeah, it was me...guess a mothers love is a powerful thing since I was the only person she didn't want to kill...I bet if she saw how this Earth's version of her was, being pissed off would be the least she'd feel. Or at least that's what I think." Soon something came to my mind before saying "If my plan to wound Flash is to work...then I must strike a blow against him that will wound him greatly...and I know exactly who to target!"

End of pov.:

Currently Barry was in his lab at CCPD, waiting on a sample from a recent crime scene that some of his police co-workers had got on a recent case to produce results. It was frustrating at times, working as a forensic scientist, especially when your a super fast super hero outside of your day job like Barry was, but everyone that knew him well knew that he wouldn't change it for anything in the world. He also had to admit, that even if he had never become The Flash: he would no doubt have been content and happy to spend his days as a forensic scientist for the rest of his life.

It had only been a couple of days since Barry's painful encounters with Frost Star's traitorous mercenary, and the others had been fretting over Barry in every way possible with regards to his healing, especially Nora and Caitlin, but Barry had managed to convince everyone that he was well enough physically to work...though he did have to promise everyone that if something did go wrong or wasn't right then he would call Caitlin about it.

Barry didn't want to burden Caitlin too much with it though, because he knew that she had her own problems as well and, whilst he would always be there for her regardless which she knew about, he didn't want to over-burden her by adding his problems to hers. Caitlin was still trying to get Killer Frost back, somehow, and Cisco was having trouble with his powers now as well. Nobody knew why or how, least of all Cisco.

Barry's thoughts were soon interrupted however when the sample he was working on was completed, and he proceeded to continue with his work. Things went smoothly and silently for a little while, as Barry completely what he was doing and completed all the paperwork for it as well. He began to take it downstairs and handed it to one of the officers on the case, explaining it to the officers until Joe soon called Barry over. "Hey Barry, can I have a word a minute?"

Barry soon went over and asked Joe confused "Hey, what's wrong Joe? I thought you'd be with Cecile or the baby today." Joe chuckled a little bit at that, patting Barry on the back before responding "My day off's tomorrow, Barry. But I came to talk to you and check up on you as well. After the last few days, I figured you'd be taking more time off yourself."

Barry rolled his eyes a bit at that. He loved Joe, he really did, and he appreciated how over-protective he could be, as the detective had looked after the Scarlet Speedster since Reverse Flash killed his mother when he was 11, but he knew Joe could be just annoyingly persistent when it came to Barry's health at times...more so in the last few years since he became The Flash than before, admittedly.

"I'm fine, Joe, I swear. A little sore at times maybe, but other than that, nothing serious. Plus I promised everyone that I'll talk to Caitlin if something's not right or if I do get worse." Barry defended himself, though not harshly. If it had been anyone other than his family and extended family, like the others at S.T.A.R. Labs for example, he'd have probably have probably have lost his temper at the constant worrying over him, but Joe was family so there was no way in hell that he would unless his mind wasn't in the right place.

Joe was about to say something else when his face turned grave and he indicated to the TV screen with his head to Barry, who promptly turned his head to look upon noticing that...and to his shock and anger, there on the screen was his latest source of problems and pain, and the latest headache..."The Frozen Speedster" himself, Frost Star!

They didn't know how, or why, but somehow he had managed to hack into the screen to address everyone. And it wasn't just at the CCPD that had the same thing occurring: S.T.A.R. Labs, Iris's workplace, C.C.Jitters, every place that had a screen to watch something on had been hacked to broadcast what Frost Star was about to say. Nobody other than Team Flash or The Wests knew who he was or what was going on, or had been going the past while between Flash and Frost Star...but now there was no hiding it!

"Citizens of Central City! Allow me to introduce myself..." he began in a, no pun intended, icy voice full of contempt and malice, anger and ill will, hate and agenda, and everyone was compelled to watch, not that they had a choice anyway. "I am the new Speedster in town that is causing The Flash trouble in the last while! My name, is Frost Star! I doubt you have heard of me before, and to be honest I don't really care if you remember the name...but I come with a message and a warning for Central Cities little speedster 'knight in shining armor'!"

Barry felt himself repeatedly clenching his hands into fists and then relaxing them multiple times, though discreetly enough that nobody seemed to notice. "For years now, The Flash has supposedly been your saviour, the light in this measly little cities darkness, against other Meta-Humans who have sought out to do harm to you all! The Reverse Flash, Zoom, DeVoe...Savitar! You name me a Meta-Human and I bet you he has fought them and defeated them at least once!

"And yet, when I arrived in this little city over a week ago...he got defeated, by me, quite easily might I add, after I had let him 'defeat' me...and then I have one of my minions go after him and how did that turn out Flash?" he said that last part with a smirk, one that made Barry's blood boil at that, before continuing in mocking fashion. "Oh, right, I remember...you got defeated again, this time by the weakest of my minions, before he tried to turn on me! And it took me and one of your little sidekicks arriving to defeat him, because you were in too much pain to do anything!"

Barry was having a hard time trying to keep calm and not show his growing frustration on his face, and with good reason: Frost Star was mocking him more-or-less and calling him weak, and the "Frozen Speedster" himself was enjoying it! "Let's face it, Flash: You can't defeat me! Not as you are! Not now, not ever! But if you want to try and prove me wrong, then here is what I propose: Central City Docks, tonight at sun down! Make sure you bring your little speedster sidekick, XS, with you!"

Frost Stars look on his face then changed from a mocking yet daring evil smirk to a deadly serious icy glare. "But let me be perfectly clear, Flash: ONLY you and XS are to come! If you bring anyone else, then I will take a random innocent person from Central City...and whatever happens to them will be on YOUR hands, not mine! If you are late: I will do the same thing to another random civilian! If you do not show up: I will kidnapped and kill a random civilian every 10 minutes until you come! Don't be late, Flash! I'll be waiting..."

With those last words, the feed finally cut and Frost Star vanished, and the entirety of Central City was in complete shock and fear. CCPD was in full alert throughout the rest of the day, and rightfully so. Joe came over to a seemingly distracted and concerned Barry and grabbed his arm before looking to him. "Barry, you should head to S.T.A.R. Labs. The others will have a plan no doubt." the detective advised, to which Barry nodded in agreement before heading off out of CCPD and, when nobody was looking, then he sped off towards S.T.A.R. Labs and to the others.

When he arrived at S.T.A.R. Labs: Caitlin, Cisco and Nora were already there, and Nora immediately hugged her father in concern, much to Barry's surprise, before Barry hugged his speedster daughter back for comfort. "I'm guessing it wasn't just CCPD that heard Frost Star then?" he asked, to which Cisco and Caitlin slowly shook their heads to their friend.

"It was sent out all over Central City. I think he wanted everyone to know his intentions, or for us to know that he has you were he wants you." Caitlin said slowly, concern in her voice. Barry sighed a bit himself as he closed his eyes and placed a hand on his forehead. "Looks like we haven't got a choice in this one...we'll have to do what he wants." Barry said in a defeated yet frustrated voice.

"We can monitor and hack into the security feeds and cameras from here, just to be on the safe side." Cisco said as he began to do his magic. Caitlin walked over to Barry at seeing his growing concern and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "You going to be okay, Barry?" she asked quietly, not wanting Nora and Cisco to hear just in case. Barry sighed a bit and slowly shook his head. "No...something doesn't feel right about this. I don't know why but...but something is telling me that something could go wrong tonight." he confided to her, and Caitlin couldn't help but agree with him on that point.

"I know what you mean. Something's not right about this. It's so...sudden." Caitlin agreed, looking to Barry with a serious expression. "Just be careful, okay?" Caitlin said, to which the speedster nodded.

Frost Star's Personal Observation:

I was already at the Docks waiting impatiently for 'dad' and his daughter to appear, as I had been for the last half an hour. Admittedly, they still had 10 minutes to get here by now, and it had been a few hours since I had sent my message to The Flash. I smirked a bit as I looked around the area with my eyes simply, and I saw a few security camera's in other areas pointing in my direction.

I chuckled a bit before saying to myself "Everything is proceeding as planned..." I said more to myself, though barely audible to others who may have been listening...and I knew that The Flash's compatriots at S.T.A.R. Labs mostly definitely would be somehow.

Soon, with 2 minutes to spare on the time limit, both Flash and XS arrived, and I came out of the shadows of where I was hiding at normal pace, instead at speedster pace, before looking towards my supposed "family". Truth be told, I pitied XS, Nora, for what must occur here tonight, and I truly didn't have any that much against her besides being related to dad and working with him...but somethings need to be, and one day she'll probably even thank me for what must occur.

"Two minutes early...for someone who normally arrives late: that's impressive even by your standards 'dad'..." I said in a mocking tone, staring at the two speedsters in front of me. It's ironic in a way: if I wanted I could just freeze them in place with my cold powers and beat them down with ease...but what fun would that be?

"We're here, as you told us to be! Now what do you really want, Frost Star!?" Flash said to me, like an angry father speaking to a disobedient child, not that I knew had experience with that nor did I care. I simply chuckled humorlessly as I looked at them. "Simple: you took everything from me because of your selfishness when you created Flashpoint, and allowed your psychopathic Time Remnant, Savitar, my father just as you supposedly are, to kill your precious Iris West...and now tonight, I'm going to take something from you!"

Nora was surprised a bit by my words, either forgetting briefly that Savitar had been the Flash and had tried to kill her mum...or the realization that they had been lead into a potential trap that our dad hadn't yet realized. Flash though tried to reason with me as he put his hand out in front of me. "Look, I messed up by creating Flashpoint, I realized that a long time ago...but I swear, I had nothing to do with what Savitar did to you or whoever your mum was!"

I was now glaring a hole into Flash, pointing my finger towards one of the cameras as I spoke. "'Who my mum was!?!' My mum wasn't some random person who Savitar messed around with, Flash! My mum was someone you knew very well, hell you still know her incredibly well today because she's saved your ass more than once! Or have you not bothered to look at the DNA results yet!?!"

Now Flash just looked confused, as did Nora, before dad soon responded in confusion. "But...the results aren't finished yet! Cisco was keeping an eyes on it for us and would have told me if it had finished!" That was when a small, yet humorless smirk appeared on my face as I looked to the camera briefly with my cold and icy eyes. I could practically feel Vibe becoming uneasy now...oh if I could see his face now!

"Are you so certain about that, Flash? Because I know for a fact that those test results are, in fact, complete! In fact...I happen to know they were done whilst you were recovering from my treacherous little mercenary's Ice Bullet entering your body!" I looked towards to the camera before saying mockingly "How did it feel, Vibe, to lie to your friends and keep the secret about me from them!"

I knew that dad had been shocked at hearing that, and I could tell out of the corner of my eyes that he believed every word that I was saying...as did little Nora next to him...oh what fun I was having at watching them suffer in their betrayal of trust!

End of pov.:

Barry tried his best to not believe a word that his son from a different universe had spoken about Cisco knowing about the rest results and not telling them...but even as he tried to, something inside of him as well as the way in which Frost Star spoke about this new revelation sounded genuine and true, no lies whatsoever!

Nora was the same way, and although both speedsters thought that Cisco probably had his reasons for not telling them...but Nora hadn't expected at all was for her dad to react in violence and blind anger as he charged at full speed at Frost Star! Frost Star though, even though he wasn't looking in either Flash's or XS's direction, simply moved out of the way and let their dad race past him, using only the smallest bit of his speed powers to get out of the way, barely even noticeable in use that the regular person would perhaps not have noticed!

Regardless of how much of his speed powers were used to avoid Barry's anger driven attack, the effect was very much the intended effect as Barry ended up crashing into a nearby a nearby shipping storage container wall, denting it and leaving a massive crater in the wall of the container that the scarlet speedster crashed into!

"Dad!" Nora shouted out, attempting to race over to him...only to be grabbed by the arm by Frost Star and thrown into a nearby stack of empty crates that had be randomly left at the docks for whatever reason, smashing through them all easily. Frost Star then smirked as he began to use his cold powers to freeze Barry in place from where he had hit and was recovering, freezing him in place completely up to his head! It wasn't a guaranteed to keep him there for long, but it would be enough for a little bit.

He sped over to Nora and picking her up by the hair tightly before lifting her up and throwing her towards another container, then launching a number of icicles in her direction! Fortunately for Nora, she had enough sense of where she was and what was going on to dodge out of the path of the icicles before they could hit her...however, they did scrape her shoulder, and even just a scrape was enough to send her body into serious pain, just as the icicles had with Barry when he first went up against Frost Star!

Frost Star glared towards Nora, not pleased that the icicles didn't have the intended effect on Nora. Granted, he was a little amused by how painful just a scrape from his icicles could cause to his victims, but he had hoped for more than a scrape.

The Frozen Speedster soon heard something behind him, and he simply moved out of the way, once again using only the slightest bit of speed to move out of the way, before seeing Barry race passed him seconds later and crash into something again when the latter attempted to stop suddenly...which had been a mistake for the Scarlet Speedster.

"I've got to say, Flash: anger and speed don't seem to mix well with you, do they?" Frost Star said mockingly, smirking darkly towards his dad before seeing both Barry and Nora getting up slowly before he moves into a fighting stance that was practically speaking 'Bring it on!' to them!

Flash began to charge at Frost Star, and XS did the same, both from different angles...but Frost Star was still able to easily overpower them, counter them, and predict their moves...more specifically Barry's, but he still had next to no problem with Nora. It was like Frost Star was able to immediately pick up on their moves, and counter their every attempt at a strategy, and he barely used any of his speed powers to merely dodge the attacks, never mind knock them back!

Soon though, he got bored with the handicap fight, although he was the one winning the fight, and soon he kicked Barry straight into the chest and grabbed Nora by the arm before throwing her away to the already ruined shipping container...then he turned to Barry as the latter, somehow, managed to land a point to the Frozen Speedsters jaw just at the same moment that the said speedster blasted Barry square in the chest with his cold powers, sending the Scarlet Speedster crashing into one of the docks cranes legs!

Frost Star then sped over to his dad and then delivered a knockout punch straight to Barry's face just as Frost Star's fist was encased in a gauntlet of frozen ice, knocking out Barry almost instantly and busting his face open and blooding his nose as well! Frost Star casually just wiped his ice gauntlet across his jaw to check for blood...only seeing a mere drop of blood on the ice gauntlet before he shattered the gauntlet over Flash's skull, and he smirked darkly and mockingly at The Flash.

"All that rage and anger, all that fighting...and your only success is making me bleed a mere drop of blood! Pathetic..." he said before using his cold powers once again to freeze Barry in place...then he looked over to a dazed Nora and he sped over to where she was, looking down at her silently before causing a sharp icicle to appear in his hand...and then he stabbed her in the leg, severing her in the same way that Killer Frost did to Barry twice during the time that Savitar was around.

Nora cried out in agony, grabbing her leg on instinct as she grimaced in pure pain! "Even with your healing powers, it would take you hours to heal...and you don't have hours now, Nora..." she heard her foe say to her...but to her surprise, it wasn't mocking in anyway, or condescending, or heartless...but actually, quite sad and regretful!

She looked up to Frost Star, to see and hope that she was mishearing the tone of his voice...but when she did, she saw that Frost Star now had his hood down, revealing his long, shoulder-length black hair and silver strands, and that instead of triumph and sick pleasure plastered on his face and in his eyes...he looked conflicted, pained, and even remorseful, if only very briefly. He soon grabbed something from his belt and grabbed Nora by the neck as his face immediately turned into a snarl of rage and pressed the button on the device he had in his other hand...and that's when Nora knew she was doomed!

Out of nowhere, some sort of Speed Force Portal began to appear behind Frost Star, one that looked violent, sinister and dangerous, and not at all stable! "That's a Speed Force Prison! Far more powerful, and far more terrible then the one The Flash of my world trapped Savitar in! An eternity of pain, despair and darkness is all that will await you there! And you will beg for death to take you when you finally break in there!" Frost Star said as his cold eyes bore into the soul of Nora, showing no second thoughts in his actions within his eyes alone!

Barry began to awaken from his unconscious state faster than Frost Star had predicated and hoped, his face from the nose and jaw downwards looking like a crimson mask! He saw what was happening, and he tried his hardest to phase through the ice to get free...but the pain was unbearable, from both his fight with Frost Star, from the ice gauntlet that had busted him open and smashed into his head, and from the ice that was binding him down...all he could do was watch helplessly as Frost Star stared at his father with a feral look for the briefest of moments!

"Nothing personal, XS...but when I'm done with our dad: you'll be glad that I trapped you in that prison!" Frost Star said as he glared at the female speedster, before racing towards the portal! "NOOOOO!!!!" Barry shouted out in despair, as he was forced to watch his daughter get thrown into the Speed Force Prison, Nora calling out to her dad as Frost Star stopped a distance away from the portal and threw Nora into the portal at the same time...and when she had entered the portal...it closed fully, trapping Nora within the Speed Force Prison!

Barry was able to break free from his icy binds finally, but by that point it was too later, and he sped towards where Nora had just disappeared in despair, tears streaming down his face from his eyes just as his blood was pouring down as well! He wasn't the only one who saw this and broke at the sight they had seen: Caitlin and Cisco broke down into tears as well, with Caitlin putting her hands in her face as she witnessed this. Iris, Joe and Ralph entered mere minutes into the fight between the speedsters, and Iris was reduced to tears as well on a level that was the same as Barry's, whilst Ralph looked on speechless and Joe nearly collapsed into a nearby wall in shock!

The only one who was smiling was Frost Star! He had an evil triumphant smirk on his face as he looked at The Flash's reaction to losing his daughter right in front of his eyes! Frost Star's smirk faltered into a neutral look soon, before saying to Barry in a emotionless yet mocking tone "How's it feel, Flash! To lose something important to you at the hands of your own flesh and blood! To feel powerless to help them! To know that no matter what you tried to do: you FAILED to protect the ones you love from being ripped away from you!!!"

Barry's rage and grief soon took over, as he attempted to strike down Frost Star...but Frost Star was prepared for him! As Flash approached the Frozen Speedster: said speedster used his speed to dodge out of the way, and used his cold powers at the same time to form another icicle in his hand, and he stabbed it into Barry's leg viciously as soon as The Flash got close enough, causing Barry to collapse onto the ground in pain and agony once again, tears and blood still pouring down his face as he grimaced in agony! Frost Star just glared at Flash from where he was standing.

"Know this, dad! YOU are responsible for what happened to your daughter! You, are responsible for the actions I take! And YOU will beg me to end your life when I have taken EVERYTHING from you!" Frost Star spoke, his words like daggers to Barry's heart as he spoke them, before he began to walk away, looking to the camera as he said directly to one person and one person alone with an emotionless look on his face: "See you soon...Mum!" making everyone at S.T.A.R. Labs more speechless as he spoke of this revelation, as they knew of only one person he could be speaking to now...and with that, Frost Star sped away into the distance, leaving a bloodied and broken Barry Allen alone in his defeat and despair......

Author's Side-Note: So I hope none of you are disappointed with what I did with Nora/XS in this chapter. I might bring her back, either in a later one somehow, if it isn't as popular as I hope. Please don't mistake this for hating Nora at all, because truth be told I really liked Nora's character in Flash Season 5, and whilst she's certainly had her bad moments I admit, I liked how her story was done between her, Flash and Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash, even if it was confusing at times.

The reason I wanted to do this was because between what Frost Star has planned for Barry and his (Frost Star's) worlds Killer Frost and also because the relationship between Barry and Caitlin would eventually require that Barry and Iris break up, which itself would cause Nora to be potentially erased from existence unless Iris was already pregnant with her. Plus the only other way I could think of involving Nora without her somehow being removed from the timeline would be to team her up with Frost Star and the latter finding a way to keep her from being erased.

Besides from that, I hope you enjoyed the chapter!
