Chapter 6
Hospital Trips & Dungbombs
Wendy sneezed loudly and groaned as she turned to her side. The girl's nose was red and her cheeks were flushed. She kept coughing as she reached for a piece of chicken.
"And this is why I avoid the snow," Adeen said as she took off her sweater and draped it over the shoulders of her best friend. Adeen patted her back and handed her a warm cup of tea.
From across the hall, the redhead could see Cedric battling a stomach ache while Hannah laid her head on his shoulder. Poor Cedric suddenly gagged and booked it out of the Great Hall, letting Hannah's head hit the table. Adeen stood to her feet, told Wendy she would be back and rushed out after her friend. Adeen could hear Cedric gagging from down the hall. She followed the noises to the boy's restroom.
She entered and quickly pushed past some boys from Durmstrang. They gave Adeen a strange look but left the bathroom nonetheless. The Slytherin gently opened the bathroom stall.
Cedric groaned as he lifted his head from the toilet and stared back at Adeen.
"It was those cursed cookies I got from Neville. I swear when I see him, I'm gonna-"
Cedric paused before scrunching up his face and throwing up again. Adeen had to turn away. She conjured up a glass and filled it up with the sink water.
"This tastes terrible."
"It's just tap water. Forgive me, your majesty, for not getting you sparkling water."
Cedric groaned and continued to throw up. The restroom door opened and Marcus peeked inside.
"I'm sick too, Dee, take care of me," he teased.
Adeen rolled her eyes and patted Marcus' head. Marcus was the only one that didn't get sick from the day before, for he was the only one who actually wore enough layers, changed out of his wet clothes, and refused to eat Neville's cookies.
Eventually, both Wendy and Hannah found their way into the boy's restroom. Adeen clicked her tongue.
"Marcus, help me carry these poor souls to the infirmary wing, yeah?"
Marcus chuckled and helped Cedric to his feet. Adeen followed the boys out with Wendy looped to her right side and Hannah to her left.
The Hospital Wing only had a couple of students occupying the place. Adeen quickly guided Wendy to a bed.
"I don't feel so good," Wendy muttered. Adeen simply hushed her friend up before she turned away to give a blanket to Hannah too. While Marcus explained to Madam Pomfrey what was wrong with their friends, Adeen happened to glance at the other students in the wing. Adeen internally groaned when she caught sight of a familiar redhead, who was surrounded by other redheads.
Adeen quickly averted her eyes when she made eye contact with Fred Weasley. She had been caught and her face began to burn from embarrassment.
"You okay, Adeen?" Marcus asked as he neared her, "your face is turning red."
Adeen felt herself burning even brighter. She crossed her arms and gritted her teeth.
"Buzz off, Marcus."
The young Slytherin finished talking to Madam Pomfrey. She bid her friends farewell and headed towards her first class of the day. As she left the hospital wing, she happened to glance over towards Fred and his family again.
Once again, she caught his eyes. He smirked at her before winking. Adeen quickly turned around.
She didn't like when Fred winked at her.

After a long day of lessons, and dealing with her classmates without her friends, Adeen was ready to throw herself off a cliff. Her energy was completely gone and she didn't even have the stamina to get dinner. Once the last class of her day ended, she went straight to the Hospital Wing.
"Hey, how they feeling?" She asked Marcus as she walled in. The boy shrugged and bit into his chocolate muffin.
"Wendy keeps complaining, Hannah is snoring, and Cedric keeps trying to leave," he muttered. Adeen scoffed. She expected nothing else from her friends.
She poured a glass of water before heading over to Wendy. Adeen handed her friend the cup and sat at the end of her bed.
"You look like shit," she commented but Wendy just scoffed. She groaned loudly and coughed.
"If this is what death feels like, I don't think I'm ready," Wendy muttered. Adeen hummed as she fluffed her best friend's pillow and fixed her blanket.
"Unfortunately for you, my dear sick friend, you don't get to chose when you die," she replied and Wendy scoffed.
"Tell that to my late Aunt Sheila."
The Slytherin turned her back to her friends. She reached into her pocket and pulled out her purple pills again.
She took two before stealing Hannah's water and gulping them down.
"Again, Dee?"
She turned towards Marcus before shrugging.
"I'm fine."
Marcus didn't believe her. But he didn't say anything and turned his attention back to Hannah.
Adeen counted the remainder of her pills. She had about ten left, which she was certain would only last her for two more days. With a soft sigh, she glanced over to Madam Pomfrey on the other side of the room.
The healer had repeated to her again to not take more than three pills a day, but Adeen knew her powers better than anyone else. Three wasn't going to cut it.
She quickly took one more pill before looking at Cedric.
"I think I'm heading back now. You'll be okay without me?" She inquired. The Hufflepuff groaned but nodded.
"Of course."
Adeen nodded before patting her best friend's arm and leaving the hospital wing.
Marcus quickly found his spot next to her and nudged her side.
"Please remember not to take a lot of those things, aye? If you ever need help with your powers, Dee, all you need is ask," Marcus said as they came to a stop. Adeen smiled at him lightly.
"You are an outstanding friend, Marcus. Goodnight."
~
Wendy Gilmera wasn't one to find herself in the library. She wasn't very fond of books or the idea of staying quiet for too long.
So when she told Adeen she had something to show her in the library, Adeen knew it wasn't the latest novel of the next upcoming author or to work on their overdue potions essay.
Adeen and Wendy peeked out from behind a bookshelf and peered over to a stray table, with only two people there.
"You pulled me away from breakfast to show me Granger and Krum on a weird date?" Adeen snapped but Wendy immediately shushed her.
"I ship them," Wendy whispered when Krum inches closer to Hermione. Adeen rolled her eyes and pulled her stalker friend away.
"I thought you wanted her and Ron to get together?"
"I did, but he's as daft as my foot. My two-legged cat is smarter than that boy," Wendy exclaimed as they both left the library.
After witnessing Wendy almost fall off the moving staircase, Adeen figured a snack would be good as they waited for their next class to start.
"I want a date for the next Hogsmeade trip," Wendy mentioned as they walked out of the Kitchens. Adeen hummed as she bit into her muffin.
"Anyone in mind?"
"I'm not picky. Just anyone with a pulse will do."
Wendy waved goodbye as Adeen headed off towards her Transfiguration class. Adeen scrunched her nose as she came to a sudden stop. A foul smell entered her nose.
Dung Beetles?
Another scent followed. Adeen recognized it too.
Gunpowder?
Adeen wasn't an idiot. The smell of gunpowder meant explosions. And if you added dung to that...
You get dungbombs.
Adeen's quick eyes saw the prank lying at a group of Slytherin fourth year's feet. The girls were unfazed as they chatted, not a single care in the world. In seconds the bomb would go off, covering the poor girls in a horrendous smell for weeks on end. It would've been a terrible fate...
If Adeen hadn't extinguished the bomb.
With her small pinkie finger, in a split second, the fire on the bomb was put out. The dungbomb went unnoticed and the girls were able to leave with smiles on their faces.
Adeen stared at the small prank toy. Although a common prank from the Zonko's in Hogsmeade, it was still a stupid toy. The Slytherin wasn't fond of foolish tricks, especially if her own house was on the receiving side.
But she definitely knew who was behind these tricks.
Adeen looked up and glanced around her surroundings. She was looking for a certain shade of red and once she caught sight of the two idiot twins behind a wall, she scowled.
Why am I not surprised, she thought to herself. Holding her head up high, she walked over to the dungbomb. With a swift kick, she shot the toy back to its senders.
And as soon as it hit their feet, Adeen lit it up.
And the bomb went off.
The Weasley twins let out a screech that could only be rivaled by a banshee. The awful smell instantly filled the hall of Hogwarts. The small explosion caught the attention of the bystanders and they all began to laugh when they saw Fred and George, notorious Hogwarts prankers, getting a taste of their own medicine.
Adeen snickered as the twins gagged on the smell. Feeling completely satisfied, Adeen walked off towards her class again.
And this time, she entered the room with a small smile on her face.
Class had already started when the Weasley twins walked in, smelling as rank as expected. Everyone began to complain and even McGonagall scrunched her face.
"Mister and mister Weasley, you better have a decent excuse for your... Peculiar odor," she spoke slowly.
Both twins glanced at each other before turning back to the professor.
"Apologies, professor, it seems we have accidentally started a war with a wild firecracker."
