Chapter 17

A/N: Thanks for all your lovely comments and engagement with my story. Motivates me to upload more chapters and update frequently lol. Apologies if this isn't the best chapter I've written. As always, hope you enjoy!

(I'd just like to point out - in case anyone wasn't aware or missed minor details here and there; Xander was the opponent that Aisha Robinson lost to)

The next day at school was nothing but heavy silence for both (Y/N) as their unsettling pair of eyes glanced at each-other unceremoniously. With the group huddled as usual, she shifted uncomfortably towards Miguel, who's attention diverted to both the girls.

Luna's sweaty, nervous palms were concealed under the table as Mitch constantly attempted to cheer her up. A series of uneasy glances were cast again, only with an aloof (Y/N) busy eating her lunch.

"So, what are your plans for the weekend, Luna?" Mitch asked as everyone but (Y/N)'s attention diverted to her.

"Oh I don't know Mitch, probably going behind your back to see Xander?" she interjected, throwing a serious amount of shade. More than necessary.

As kind as Luna was, she wasn't going to tolerate disrespect. Luna slammed her hand on the table, with no regard for the Cobra Kai group around her. Her expressions directly shifted from a ray of happiness to discontent. She'd had enough.

"I'm just as much of Xander's friend as I am yours!" she coldly spat, leaning closer to (Y/N).

"Don't be shittin' me! You hated him just as much as I did because--" she announced, realising the group was in complete silence.

With some quick thinking, she mentally juggled a number of excuses to justify her hatred for her friend and Xander. It was unbelievable on another level that her best friend would betray her. However, (Y/N) was only upset that Luna had been talking to Xander. Part of her still trusted that her identity wouldn't be revealed, given that Luna was her family.

"Because what, (Y/N)?!" Luna exclaimed, her hands in the air, indicating she gave up.

"Because he's a fucking cheater" (Y/N) huffed, only to diffuse the situation before more questions popped up.

The group went silent, trying to help diffuse the situation. Eventually, the girls parted their ways as (Y/N) dragged Miguel by the arm. On the other hand, Luna had done the same, keeping Mitch by her side.

"You guys are best friends. (Y/N), she didn't break girl code" Miguel reassured. "It's not like she's dating your ex"

"Miguel, you just won't get it" she responded, impulsively. "Xander and I have history and it's a lot more complicated than you think"

"Yeah... everything is complicated with you, (Y/N). At least Luna has nothing to hide. What hurts me more is that you'll never tell me, will you?"

(Y/N) froze. Unable to finish the sentence, she spend a solid moment processing what Miguel had just said. Unaware that she upset him, she attempted to reach out for his shoulder, explaining that wasn't the case. If Miguel found out, it could potentially harm him and his family too. Miguel shook his head, yanking her arm that rested upon his shoulder.

"Why are you pushing this? You saw exactly what happened over there with Xander and Luna" she argued, crossing her arms.

"Yeah. I did. But Sensei Lawrence taught me not to judge a situation without asking for context. I've done things I'm not proud of, but I would never turn my back on a friend."

He walked away, leaving (Y/N) dumbfounded in the middle of the hallway. Although Miguel had a point, she would only agree until she got down to the bottom of things.

'Knock Knock!'

After a rather confrontational day at school, (Y/N) returned from work that same evening, exhausted and ready to crash. She was curious as to where the knock was coming from. She opened the door to find Miguel at her doorstep. The absence of conversation between them consisted of nothing but staring at one another. (Y/N) crossed her arms, impatiently waiting for Miguel to tell her what it was he wanted.

"Can I help you?" she scoffed, rolling her eyes.

'The nerve of this guy' she thought.

She was too temperamental to take his advice. Miguel dismissed her question, walking straight through her door, slamming it shut as his arms were wrapped around her waist. He slammed his lips to hers, pushing her further to the wall.

(Y/N) let out a short and quick gasp, unsure of what to think or say. Nonetheless, she was glad Miguel came around.

With a frown upon her forehead, she dug her hands into his shirt, tracing his back whilst completely melted into their makeout.

"(Y/N)" he panted. "There's something I need to tell you"

She nodded, awaiting for his confession. He paused for a moment to take in her presence, face and simply everything about her. Luckily he had her pinned against a wall, straight in his grip and control so he could encourage her to listen to his words.

"(Y/N) (L/N), I am in love with you. I mean I love you. I love you and I'm in love with you. I'm sorry for the way I spoke to you so I came to fix things. And I'm sorry I didn't say it sooner." he admitted, while his hand traced her cheek, as soft as a baby's bum.

He sighed, intertwining her opposite hand with his, examining her hands, soft with dry corners from the lack of moisture in her skin.

"Miguel I---" (Y/N) responded, supposedly reciprocating the same feelings.

"Let me finish" he interrupted, placing his free hand on her mouth. "I just want you to know that you can be honest and open with me. I want you to allow me to help you. I don't know what happened between you and Xander but I know I can't afford to lose you."

A silent (Y/N) froze in complete shock. What Miguel did was completely unexpected, yet so romantic. She hadn't expected this much affection coming from him. For as long as she could remember, she'd always settled in her past relationships, always unsure of her feelings.

The case was different with Miguel. Since that day he'd walked in on her and Xander arguing, she couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity towards him. From this point on, her feelings cleared up over a period of time. She had finally figured out what was going on.

"Miguel, when you saw Xander and I arguing..." she spoke. "I knew I felt drawn towards you for some reason. I tried to fight it. But your persistency was what drew me to you. No one's cared for me like that"

He raised an eyebrow, skeptically wondering what she was trying to say. Unsure, he tilted his head to the side, attempting to clarify what exactly (Y/N) was saying.

"W-What I'm trying to say is, I love you too" she blurted as fast as she could.

Her cheeks were flushed, a deep pink shade taking over. Miguel's face glimmered with a ray of hope and excitement as he was glad she'd reciprocated his feelings. He pulled her into a tight embrace, planting a sweet kiss on her forehead.

(Y/N) pulled apart, cupping his face as she traced his hairline. She leaned in further, planting various kisses on both his cheeks, finally stepping back into her personal space to face him.

"Xander and I were arguing about Topanga's reputation. They act good on the outside to impress people. But Xander is one of the most violent people you'd meet" she admitted as an intrigued Miguel leaned in to listen.

"You must know this. I quit karate for that exact reason. I don't do it to cause other people harm. Let's just say the owner is a very bad man" she added. "My father had a close relationship with him. That's how he got sucked in."

"I just hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive Luna and show her some mercy. I'm sure there is more to it..." he explained.

Miguel noticed her eyes were almost a bloodshot red. Without another word, he immediately pulled her into his arms, without a single word.

"Have you made your decision?" Terry demanded as he smirked.

It was the biggest decision of her life. As far as Luna was concerned, she could rat her best friend out any second. With no further time to waste, she courageously walked up to Terry, dressed in her usual 'all blacks' outfit consisting of black jeans, hoodie and sneakers. For the sake of her friend's life and hers, she took off her hoodie, almost imitating (Y/N)'s sparrow persona.

"I dyed my hair. I do it all the time" she admitted, revealing her newest hair colour that resembled (Y/N)'s.

Behind Terry, Xander noticed Luna's sudden change of mind. Part of him was sympathetic towards her, trusting his gut feeling which spoke volumes like no other.

"Luna, what's going on?" Xander curiously asked, urging her not to do what he thought she was about to do.

She glanced at Xander for a split second, only to dismiss his existence as she faced Terry again. Luna dug under her pocket to take out the picture (Y/N) had been holding onto for a while. She slammed it down on his table as Terry chuckled, examining what she had presented to him.

At first Terry displayed signs of shock all over his face, which changed to a slight chuckle as he examined the photo. His judgement of Luna was rather clouded.

"Alright, very well, Miss Yogi" he commented, unnecessarily. "What are you trying to suggest here?"

"This man is my father. I'm HIS daughter. I brought those papers to you, I didn't steal them" she lied. "I was the one who tricked your men. That girl, is just my friend. I've been looking for you all my life and here you are, right in front of my very own eyes..."

"Luna, what the fuck are you sayi--?" Xander exclaimed in complete shock.

"I'm Sparrow" she concluded, once and for all.

...

A/N: lol that last bit sounded like a poem if you actually read it out to yourself:

- ("This man is my father. I'm HIS daughter. I brought those papers to you, I didn't steal them" she lied. "I was the one who tricked your men. That girl, is just my friend. I've been looking for you all my life and here you are, right in front of my very own eyes...")
