PERSONALITY.
Callahan wanted to be the very best, just like any other student at Valmont. But for him, it wasn't about simply earning good grades or topping the class—it was about power. Once you're the best, once you've reached that pinnacle, that's when people truly begin to see you. And when they see him, when they finally notice all that he's capable of, they'll know that he's more than just another face in the crowd.
It wasn't just about recognition, though. Being at the top meant that he would no longer be overlooked. People would see the tiny ticks he couldn't suppress—the way his eyes would twitch when he made a mistake, how his hands would tighten into fists when the pressure built, or how his nails dug into his skin during moments of deep anxiety. They would see the cracks in his carefully constructed facade, the way he was slowly breaking at the seams, though he tried so hard to hold it all together. They would see the person he truly was, not just the polished version he presented to the world.
He was envious of those who could live their life carefree, those whose ever being wasn't consumed by grades or the constant need of perfection. He didn't know who he was beyond perfection, what more did he have to offer if not perfect?
He was so tired of hiding away in the shadows. He was consumed by both his studies and his music. All Callahan wanted was for someone to say he was doing well, someone to finally acknowledge him or even check to see if he was okay. Because truth be told he wasn't okay, he was so inevitably tired. He didn't have friends, all he focused on was piano. Every waking minute he played, played until his fingers gave up and he could no longer find the strength to continue.
But Callahan wasn't stupid. He knew that the price of being noticed was high. It meant that every flaw, every vulnerability, every quiet moment of doubt would be exposed for everyone to see. For eyes to be on you, watching...waiting for you to one day just snap.
And yet, he pushed forward. Because if they saw it—if they noticed his imperfections—that would mean they truly understood him. It would mean that, finally, he would no longer be invisible. His anxiety, his loneliness, his obsession with perfection—it would all be laid bare, for better or worse.
And there was a sick comfort in that. Being the best meant that he could stop pretending. He could stop hiding the jagged edges of his soul behind layers of wit, control, and his music. Because once he was on top, once everyone was watching, they would see him for who he really was, and in a twisted way, that validation would be enough. It had to be. He wasn't sure if he could survive another day of being unnoticed, another day of retreating into himself, pretending that nothing mattered except the race to the top.
But he would get there. He would claw his way to the top of Valmont, and when he did, they would notice everything—every twitch, every crack, every raw, bleeding part of him. And maybe, just maybe, they would finally see him.
BACKSTORY.
Callahan was polished and poised to perfection, a flawless picture of a family striving for excellence. His mother, a woman of strict expectations, demanded nothing less than greatness. For her, mediocrity was an insult. Whether he aced every exam or won an award for his performance, nothing was ever enough. She never acknowledged effort, only results—perfection was the bar, and anything less was a failure.
This relentless pressure began to shape Callahan in ways he couldn't fully understand at the time. It was during his childhood, when his mother's praise seemed as elusive as a shadow, that his need for perfectionism took root. Music became his escape and his obsession. It was the one place where he could lose himself and feel truly seen. The piano keys, cold and unforgiving at first, slowly became a familiar extension of himself. His fingers danced over them, each note bringing him closer to something he craved more than anything: his mother's acknowledgment. Callahan never understood why he was so desperate for his mothers approval when his father always made sure to reassure him that he was doing just fine, but Callahan didn't want to be "just fine" he wanted to be perfect.
Performing on stage was the closest Callahan ever came to receiving her approval. When his hands flew across the keys, each note an expression of the years of practice, discipline, and internalized perfectionism, his mother's gaze would fix on him—unwavering. It was rare, but in those brief moments, when the crowd's applause faded into the background and the world seemed to stand still, her eyes would focus on him. If he was lucky, she would offer a barely perceptible nod, the smallest of gestures. It was everything to him, enough to feed his hunger for her approval, even if it was fleeting.
But deep inside, Callahan began to wonder if this cycle—striving for perfection only to receive a fleeting nod—was all he was worth. The pressure became an unspoken weight, growing heavier with each passing year. He tried to live up to his mother's impossible ideals, believing that one day, if he were flawless enough, she would finally give him what he wanted: not just a nod, but love.
In his pursuit of perfection, Callahan also began to lose sight of who he was beyond his music. The more he performed, the more disconnected he became from his own desires. He no longer played for the joy of music, but for the approval it might bring. His need to be flawless consumed him, overshadowing everything else in his life, from friendships to his own emotional well-being.
As he grew older, this constant chase for perfection became a double-edged sword. It pushed him to be excellent, but it also isolated him in a prison of his own making, where nothing was ever good enough.
FAMILY DETAILS & DYNAMICS.
Evelyn Kang-Aldridge, Mother, 38 — Callahan's relationship with his mother is defined by a constant, one-sided pursuit of approval. He craves her affection and validation but can never fully achieve the perfection she demands. His worth is tied to his ability to perform at an extraordinary level, but even then, the approval he receives is minimal—just enough to keep him striving for more. Her love, though seemingly absent, is always tinged with the belief that her children must be exceptional to earn it. What pains him the most is that even on campus she won't acknowledge him as her son, hence the last name difference. It seems as if Callahan cannot gain the attention of both his mother and headmistress.
Patrick Aldridge, Father, 42 — Callahan's relationship with his father is marked by a sense of longing for something deeper, but also an understanding that his father's affection is understated and hard to grasp. He wishes his father would offer more emotional support or stand up to his mother's demanding ways, but Thomas simply doesn't have the capacity to provide that kind of strength. His father constantly praises him but it's not enough in Callahan's eyes, he needs more.
Clarissa Aldridge, Sister, 20 — Their relationship is a complex mix of rivalry and quiet companionship. Though Callahan sometimes resents how effortlessly Clarissa achieves success and the fact that she seems to receive more attention and praise from their mother, there is an underlying bond between them. Clarissa understands the pressure Callahan faces, even if she doesn't fully share in it. Sometimes, she offers small gestures of support or empathy, but Callahan can't help but feel overshadowed by her natural confidence and ease. They were meant to be rivals but in the end, they share the same feelings they both desperately try to avoid.
CLASS RANK. Callahan is currently ranked 4th
GOALS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. Callahan hopes to get into Caldwell, but he knows it's highly unlikely as there are others more smarter than he is. If he doesn't get into Caldwell he plans on attending another university to study music production
LIKES & HOBBIES. piano, art, painting, museums, classical music, poetry, the color black, cigarettes, long walks, photography, swimming, cats
DISLIKES & FEARS. failing, bright colors, being second best, liars, crowded spaces, loud spaces, gossip, heights
STYLE & AESTHETIC. callahan's wardrobe consist of dark colors, long sleeve shirts and sweaters. he gives tortured artist aesthetic mixed with loner
OPINIONS ON LAURA. As stated earlier, Callahan doesn't have that many friends and despite being in many of the same classes as Laura, he didn't really know her. Sure, they were lab partners every now and then or he'd peer review on of her essays but he did not know her personally. In fact he found being around her very tiresome, it was a drag to know her which is why he never wanted to befriend her.
COULD THEY BE APART OF LAURA'S DISAPPEARANCE? No, he wouldn't risk everything he's worked so hard for all for someone who in his eyes is insignificant.

STEREOTYPE. The Gone Girl
PERSONALITY.
Laura Monroe had a presence that could light up the darkest room, and because of it, people couldn't help but resent her. It wasn't just that she was charismatic; it was how effortlessly she commanded attention, how her very existence seemed to demand acknowledgment. That kind of radiance was impossible to ignore, and for some, that was the problem. It got under their skin, deep down, like a thorn they couldn't pull out.
But Laura didn't care. She had learned long ago that her light wasn't something to hide, and if others were bothered by it, that was their problem, not hers. After all, Laura wasn't like the rest of them. She wasn't born into a family of wealth or power, didn't have the luxury of being shaped and molded by the best tutors and elite connections. Everything she had, she had fought for.
She'd worked her way into Valmont on sheer grit, outsmarting the privileged students who thought their family names would carry them through. And she was on track to infiltrate Caldwell next. She wasn't just bright; she was cunning, a strategist who knew how to play the game and win. Yet despite her ambition, she didn't let it consume her.
Unlike the others who were fixated on grades, rankings, and the never-ending pursuit of perfection, Laura found a balance that seemed almost foreign to them. She was sharp, yes, but she wasn't a robot. To stay sane in the hyper-competitive world they all lived in, she allowed herself to breathe, to laugh, to live. She didn't feel the need to wear the constant armor of intellectual superiority; she preferred to shed it in favor of spontaneous nights out, careless fun, and laughter that echoed through the halls.
For Laura, life wasn't just about outshining others—it was about enjoying the ride. And that carefree, unapologetic spirit was exactly why so many people resented her. She wasn't perfect, but that was the point. She was real, messy, flawed, and absolutely unstoppable. And that was something they couldn't stand.
BACKSTORY.
Laura Monroe wasn't supposed to make it this far.
Born to a single mother who worked two jobs just to keep a roof over their heads, Laura learned early on that the world didn't hand out favors. They lived in a cramped apartment in a neighborhood where opportunities were scarce and dreams often felt too big to chase. But Laura never let that stop her. From a young age, she had a fire in her that burned hotter than most. It wasn't the kind of fire that demanded attention—it was the kind that made her restless, always striving for more, even when there was no clear path ahead.
Her mother, a hardworking woman with a relentless work ethic, always told her, "You want something, you go get it. No one's going to give you a damn thing." Laura took those words to heart, and they became her mantra. She wasn't going to wait around for something to happen. If she wanted something, she was going to have to fight for it. And so she did.
While most kids her age spent their time hanging out at the mall or going to parties, Laura buried herself in books. She devoured everything—fiction, non-fiction, science, philosophy. She didn't just study to get by, she studied to escape. The world she lived in felt small, suffocating, but within the pages of a book, Laura could travel anywhere. She knew that education was her ticket out, and she wasn't about to squander it. So she earned her way into the top academic programs, often outshining the privileged kids who had tutors and private schools. They didn't understand her drive, they had everything handed to them while she had to work day and night for everything she's achieved.
By the time she entered high school, Laura had mastered the art of making her intelligence seem effortless. She could walk into any classroom, ace any test, and still maintain an air of nonchalance that irritated her peers. They didn't understand her drive, her obsession with excelling, and so they hated her for it. She didn't fit the mold of the perfect student—they expected her to be either a straight-A nerd or a rebellious troublemaker. Laura was neither. She was complex. She was both driven and playful, ambitious yet unbothered by the need to fit in.
FAMILY DETAILS & DYNAMIC.
Rachel Monroe, Mother, 34 — Laura's mother had her rather young, she was seventeen and left to raise a child. She didn't know what to do or who to turn to, but by some miracle she was able to push through. Laura admires her mother and sees her as her biggest inspiration, that's why she works so hard. She wants to one day give her mother everything she's ever wanted in life, to show her that all their sacrifices have finally paid off.
Father, Unknown — She doesn't know much about her father other than he ran the minute he found out her mother was pregnant. Her mother won't even tell her what his name was, but she's determined to find him. She believes it will give her some sense of closure.
CLASS RANK. Laura was ranked number one
GOALS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. Laura wanted to be a lawyer, and Caldwell is known to have one of the best law programs.
LIKES & HOBBIES. lipgloss, parties, summer, painting, trinkets, flowers, fruit, the color yellow, the beach, ballet, soccer, romcoms
DISLIKES & FEAR. gossip, hypocrites, being abandoned, the smell of cigarettes, thunderstorms, the dark, quiet environments
STYLE & AESTHETIC. laura's aesthetic was a mix of both summer and old money aesthetic. she loved her bright colors and floral tops, but also her polos and mini skirts
OPINIONS ON CALLAHAN. Callahan treated her as though she didn't exist, and despite all of her best efforts she could never seem to get him to like her. She eventually stopped trying to befriend him and saw him as nothing more than a peer
