Sans is inside of the portal, along with Sonic, who he is holding his hand with in order to make sure that Sonic doesn't fall. They are going through the portal as fast as they could, and hopes that they could reach the end fast enough to catch up to Cream and Cheese, who are being kept at the Atlas base. Even though Sans does not like this, even though he doesn't like Atlas, he knows that it is a necessity at the moment in order to bring Cream back, both save, and importantly, alive.

"So...what is this Atla Kingdom like?"

Sonic spoke out, as he looked up at Sans, who than looks down, as he spoke back to Sonic.

"You questioning about its appearance, or about the problem that lives in there?"

Sonic spoke out.

"What it looks like, since I have never seen it before."

Sans than looks forward, and spoke out.

"It's very futuristic in nature, and it made many advancements in technology. Because of this, the kingdom of Atlas manage to make its own military, and everyone on Remnant became dependent on the Atlas kingdom for support in case of a possibly of a war. James Ironwood, is also the general of the Atlad military, as well as a headmaster of the Atlas Academy."

This made Sonic confused, as he spoke out.

"An Academy? Why an academy?"

Sans looks down, as he spoke out.

"On Remnant, there are creature that are shown to attack Remnant now and than, Grimms, Stray Devils, Supervillains, Danger Beasts, they made these academies in order to train people to fight back against them in order to protect the people. Admittedly, though...the people that are students...aren't always noble-intentioned people, and they do not treat everyone equality. The Academy I went to...they tested the powerless like they are nothing but pathetic punching bags."

Sonic looks very disgusted, as he spoke out.

"Are you serious? They treat the ones without powers like they don't deserve a life?"

Sans nodded, as he spoke out.

"Yeah, but not just the powerless. When it comes to the relationship between the humans and the Faunus, they humans will have a tendency to treat the Faunus like they are freaks. Really, the treatment between humans and Faunus are really, really bad."

Sonic looks down, as he attempted to think of what words to say about this, until Sans spoke out to Sonic.

"Okay, we're almost there."

Sonic looks, and sees that the portal is about to end, as it is glow on white. They got closer and closer and closer, until, they went through the other side, with Sonic having to close his eyes, until they went out of the portal. Sonic than slowly began to open his eyes to see that they were out of the portal. Once he did open his eyes, they were out of the portal, but than, Sonic finally saw it: the Kingdom of Atlas itself.

"Woah...that actually looks very incredible."

Sonic spoke out, as he looks in awe of the appeared of Atlas itself. He is shocked to see just how high-tech Atlas is, especially with the Kingdom itself atop of the large piece of rock that's floating. Sonic thought that Eggman's machinery was high tech, but this is a different type of high tech. But this made Sonic weary, as Atlas does remind him so much of Eggman's machines. Sans than began to fly around as much as he could, before he found the Atlas base that is keeping Cream and Cheese contained. He lands on the ground, after he drops Sonic down first. His knees and hand touched the ground in order to prevent himself from falling flat on his face.

Sans than goes to the vents, and he spoke out to Sonic.

"I'm gonna see if I can open the vents so that we can get through. Please wait for a bit."

Sans than turns around to the vent, and began to mess around with it in order for him to try and open it. When he does, Sans noticed something peculiar about it, but does not let it get in the way of his goal, and proceeds to open it by whatever he can do. But as Sans attempts to open it, Sonic began to think about what Sans said about this James Ironwood. He only was said to be a general and the leader of the Kingdom of Atlas, but he never described what James was like as a person. So he turns to Sans and began to speak out to Sans in order to get some answers about who ever this James Ironwood is.

"So...Sans..."

Sans turns to Sonic, who had a curious look now present on his face.

"Hmmm?"

Sonic than pauses, before speaking out.

"What is this, James Ironwood like?"

Sans looks down, and sighs, before he speaks out.

"James Ironwood...I'll admit that...even though I don't like him a little bit, he is a...how would I say this...he's somewhat a little...complicated. Admittedly, he has both his good and his bad sides of himself."

Sonic looked a bit confused.

"What do you mean?"

Sans looks down, before speaking out to Sonic.

"On the good side...he is very courteous and loyal to those that he considers his allies, and is filled with immense trust towards them, not to mention always wanting to tell the truth and being a little numerous. He really strives to do the right thing. He can be blunt and paranoid, that I admit, but, he cares deeply for those he considered his allies, and care deeply for the Kingdom of Atlas, and would do anything to protect it, and I admit that...as much as I dislike Ironwood for what he has done, the one thing that I do respect Ironwood of, is that he would protect his home, as well as his loyalty to those he would consider as his allies. Unfortunately...this is where the bad spot starts to come in."

Sonic speaks out to him.

"So what's the bad side of this guy?"

Sans breaths deeply and steadily, before he spoke out.

"As I said before, he can be very paranoid at times, and is a very stubborn individual who refuses to back down against another person's choice, and he believes that the choices he makes are justified and hates having people see his as wrong, or is stubborn to back down against a powerful enemy, and then, when he goes to protect Atlas, he would stop at nothing to achieve this goal, even if it meant committing very, very atrocities in order to achieve this goal, and...he is aware of how terrible his actions are, but feels like it is a necessary evil for him to do it."

Sonic was unnerved by what Sans said. Committing atrocities in order to achieve the goal of protecting Atlas, who would do this?

"He wouldn't do such thing."

Sonic spoke out, and Sans spoke out.

"Well...the thing is...the atrocities that he makes in order to protect Atlas, they are back up by his Semblance."

This made Sonic interested. What does his Semblance have anything to do with what he does? And, as though he had read Sonic's mind, Sans spoke out the answer to Sonic, for him to better understand what it is Sans is talking about to him.

"General Ironwood's Semblance is called Mettle. Basically, it is a Mental Type Semblance. It allows for James Ironwood to make him more Hyper focus in his goals."

Sonic looked confused.

"I don't get that."

Sans sighed, before speaking out.

"Okay. Let me say it in another way, so that it can seem more clear you. Mettle...in the way I would actually say it, forces James Ironwood to carry out whatever decision that he can make, regardless of how mad or insane it is."

This finally made sense to Sonic, and Sonic actually looks very shocked.

"What? So you're saying that Ironwood can get taken over by his Semblance, and cannot control himself?"

Sans nodded.

"Right, not to mention that...is there is an obstacle that stands in his way, he will swiftly take action in order to eliminate the obstacle, while also making him tunnel vision, making Ironwood unable to see the bigger picture of what it is that's happening. And it does not help the fact that it is a passive semblance."

Sans could see the confusion on Sonic's face, as Sans than explained above Passive Semblances.

"When a Semblance is passive, it means that it stays permanently active, and cannot be shut down, unlike others, such as Ruby, who can activate it whenever they want to or not. Ironwood, because it is a passive semblance, is forced by his Semblance to carry out whatever choice or decision that he has made to achieve his goals, and once he makes that decision, he will not stop until he fulfills that goal. And it is even worse that the Semblance feeds on his paranoia, and combined, you get a disaster bomb that is waiting to go off. And not to mention the fact that he is in immensely stubborn. He will stop at nothing to do what he does, no matter what."

Sonic looked down.

"Man. I actually kind of feel sorry for this Ironwood guy. To be forced to carry out your decision and being taken over by a power that you have...that is something I do not want to have inside of me."

Sans let out some bitter laughter.

"Well...at least the both of us are lucky that we do not have a power as bad as Mettle. Otherwise, we both would have turned on each other right about now, Sonic."

Sonic looks down and nodded.

"Yeah, agreed on that."

Sans than was able to open the vent, which had been an incredibly tough job. The vent somehow became incredibly complex, even though it is very simple in most cases. So how did it get so complicated just to open one single vent? Sans sighs, before opening the vent, and he spoke out.

"Let's go."

Sans than began to crawl inside of the vent first, and Sonic soon followed in, as they bith began to crawl to wherever Cream is at. But trying to get to them is going to be a difficult experience, due to how large the military base is, and the fact that, the ventilation system is very large, and it is similar to a maze, and because of this, they have no idea where to go, and they have no idea where Cream is. Which is why Sans has something that will allow both himself and Sonic to find her. He's gonna try and focus on sensing and finding her soul.

Sans than closed his eyes, as he tries to sense it, but, in all honesty, he is not entirely sure of Sonic's species even have souls. But he is going to still try that, regardless. He kept his eyes closed, as he crawled through the vents, until...eventually, he was able to finally sense a soul that is unique to the other human souls. Sans opened his eyes, as he than spoke out a little bit to himself.

"There you are."

Sonic heard him speak, and soon afterwords, spoke out to Sans.

"Did you find where she is?"

Sans nodded, as he than spoke out.

"I can sense her soul. It is clearly somewhere around here. Now we can try and find her."

Sonic smiled a little bit, before speaking out to Sans.

"Sweet. Now we will have an easier time finding her."

Sans nodded, as he than continued to crawl towards Cream's location as fast as he could, and Sonic began to follow suit. They continued to crawl through the vents as much as they could, and Sonic hopes that Cream is still okay. When they finally found e room after a minute is searching, Sans than kicks the Vent faceplate down, and both Sans and Sonic fell down.

They than looked to the right...and Sans saw a humanoid resembling a rabbit, and having a blue creature in her arms, looking very scared, and hugging it for comfort.

"Cream."

Cream the Rabbit looks and saw Sonic with Sans. Cream looks happy, as she than tries to speak out his name

"Son-"

But Sonic quickly shushes her, and spoke out to Cream very quietly.

"Shhhh...don't speak right now, Cream. We still need to get out of here, now."

Cream nodded, and she than noticed Sans, who than extended his hand.

"Heya, kid. The name's Sans. I'm a rather new friend of Sonic here."

Cream looks and sees the friendly look on Sans' face, before smiling and shaking his hand in a friendly manner. Sans smiled back, and than, Cheese began to nuzzle against Sans, as a thank you.

"Woah, lil pal. It's okay."

Sans spoke out, as Cheese continues to nuzzle against him. Sans had to open his wings so he does not eve up falling off of his feet. Sonic chuckles a little bit, as Cheese than floats next to Cream again, as Sans spoke out.

"Now we need to get out of here. Now doubt  Ironwood is alerted about this."

Everyone nods at this, and they began to leave,

An alarm was heard, and needless to say, Sonic and Sans are not very happy with that happening all of a sudden. But just than, they heard the rustling of footsteps, and all 4 of them immediately hid from view, as the soldiers began to look around, as one if them than spoke out.

"Where are they?"

Sans and Sonic immediately began to flee with Cream and Cheese. They than turned to another direction, and they attempt to find a place where they can escape and flee from. But as they turned, suddenly, they are found by some of them.

"There you-wait, there's another one!"

"Shoot them!!"

They began to fire at Sonic and Cream, but Sonic immediately ran fast, and than hits the Soldiers. However, he does not kill them, and besides, Cream was there, and it would scare he'd immensely. Another group of soldiers than ran fast towards Sonic in an attempt to grab him, but Sans came out of nowhere, and used his Gravity Manipulation in order to keep them in the air, before he slammed them onto the wall of the Military, which knocked all of them out.

Sans than turns to the others and spoke out.

"We need to find someplace where we can drop out of, quickly!!"

Sonic nodded, as he picks cream up, cheese landing and grabbing onto Sonic's head, as both Sans and Sonic began to fly out of the base, trying to avoid getting caught by the Atlas Soldiers. They did whatever they could, and eventually, they were able to get out of the base. Sans and Sonic open the door, and they rushed out, before moving as fast as they could, until they reach the egde of the Atlas Kingdom.

Sans looks, down, as he than spoke out, as he sensed someone coming, and it is someone that he had always been dreading to meet.

"He's here."

Sonic turns to Sans, a worried expression is on his face, as he notices how unhappy and very unnerved he sounds in his tone.

"Who?"

Sans spoke out.

"Ironwood."

Sans spoke out, before turning to see James Ironwood approaching the group. Due Process is gripped in his hands.

Ironwood than began to speak out to Sans.

"I never thought that you would come to Atlas, just to infiltrate and take this creature out.

Sans glared, as he walks up to Ironwood, before speaking out.

"Y'know...I never thought that you would go this far, hurting a little kid the way you did."

Ironwood stopped and glared, as Sans continued to speak out.

"You hurt and frightened a little kid. Yes, she is not...normal, by Remnant standards, I will admit...but that kid that you had captured, Cream, she was an innocent girl who you had frightened, even though you know for a fact, that she would never fight back, and is very peaceful in nature. The fac that you would stoop this low...is just plain cruel."

He than looks at Ironwood, as he than spoke out.

"It's time for you to pay for what you have done."

He than raised his hand out, and a Abyss Shard manifested in the air, as Ironwood spoke out.

"You'd defend this...thing...even though it is not from Remnant?"

Sans looks up, as Sonic spoke out.

"That, thing, that you refer to, is my friend, Pal! I'm gonna make sure you don't get your hands on her!"

Cream intertwines her hands together, as she spoke out to them.

"Mr. Sonic. Mr. Sans. Please be careful."

Sans looked and spoke out.

"Don't worry, Cream, we will be careful."

He smiled at her in a comforting way, before he turns back to Ironwood, as he spoke out.

"You ready for this Ironwood?"

Ironwood looks down, before looking back up and speaking out.

"Yes, I am ready for this, Gaster."

Ironwood than grips Due Process, before he aims it at the both of them, and fires, although to incapacitate, not kill, at least for now.

James Ironwood fired the White Half of Due Process, and he missed, as it hit the ground. Sonic and Sans than speeds up towards James Ironwood, and began to do combat with him.

But James Ironwood is called the General of Atlas for a reason, and in the fight, he proved himself to be worthy of the title. Not only is he able to keep up with their speed, but he is able to apply some hits at them. And whenever Sans tries to fire an Abyss Shard at Ironwood, he would get out of the way. He than tried to launch an Abyss Chain and wrap it around his leg in order to make him stumble and fall, while he fires an Abyss Shard at James Ironwood.

But Irownood simply freed himself by kicking the Abyss Chain that is wrapped around his leg. Sans goes into brief combat against the General, before Ironwood kicks him back, sending him flying.

Although Sans has the capability to kill him, which he would want to do right now, as Cream, as little kid is watching the fight, he cannot do it, and instead, he needs to simply slow him down. He is just lucky that he is immensely durable enough to contain with his strength. As Sans landed on the ground, Sonic runs next to him, helping him up from the ground by extending his hand, and Sans grabs it.

"Man, you weren't kidding when you said that he is a General of some kind! That dude's an absolute monster! He's even keeping up with the both of us!"

Sans than stood up.

"Ghhhhhhhh. Yeah, but so are the both of us."

He than stood up, as he looks at Ironwood, before he runs and charges at him, his wings spread out, as he ran full speed ahead. He is like a blue and white blue rushing towards Ironwood. He than punched and kicked Ironwood, before using his Gravity Manipulation to send Ironwood flying out of the Atlas Kingdom. But Ironwood has the black half of Due Process that allows him to get back to Atlas, and he shoots, using Gravity Dust Bullets to propel himself back to Atlas, and has his sights on Sans, before firing towards another direction to reposition himself perfectly.

Ironwood than jumped off of a wall of a building, as he than tried to slam his gun onto Sans's neck with his organic hand, but missed, and than punches Sans right at the torso,

before kicking him hard in the torso, sending him flying.

Sonic looks up with anger present, as he leaps forward, and punches Ironwood very hard, causing James Ironwood to skid back from the force of the punch that Sonic had done.

For a Hedgehog his size, he had some impressive strength to injure James Ironwood.

Ironwood tries to hold Sonic back, but Sans the leapt into the air, and fired Abyss Shards on his back. This made Ironwood cry out in pain, as his aura got damaged, as Sans landed on the ground, and made a wall of crystal, which Sonic landed right into, before jumps back towards Ironwood, and rapidly punched Ironwood at an extremely fast speed, before kicking him with enough force to send him flying back.

This sends him flying very far, so much that Ironwood is out of sight. But he than uses the Black Half of Due Process to stop himself, landing down safely.

Sonic landed in the ground, and than looks to the ledge...to see a familiar paper plane. And than...he saw the person that is driving it, and it made Sonic smile, as he recognizes who it is that is piloting the plane.

"Jump!!"

Sonic spoke out, as Sans looks surprised.

"Why?"

Sonic smirked.

"A friend is in a plane ready to get us. He'll catch all 4 of us!"

Sans, trusting Sonic's word, rushes forward, and looks to see a plane, with someone inside of it.

"On 3?"

Sans spoke out to Sonic, as he nodded his head. Sans sighed, as Cream held Sonic's hand.

"Okay...we go and jump by 3."

Sans and Sonic crouched down.

"1...2..."

Than...everyone jumps.

3!!"

Sans shouted out, as Sonic, Cream, Cheese, and Sans began to fall. Sans looks down, and, a little worried that they are not going to make it, spoke out to himself, so that he can save both Sonic and Cream, in case they both miss the plane.

"Don't worry!! I got us!!!"

He than spreads his wings, and prepared to use his Gravity Manipulation, in order to stop both himself and his friends from falling. But than, another voice spoke out.

"I got you!"

Than, a red paper plane appeared out of nowhere, and Sonic smiles out to the person that is driving it.

"There you are, little buddy."

Sans looks to see that there is another one like Sonic...but this one looks very unusual.

It is an Orange fox...with 2 Tails? Sans has no idea where or how in the world this one was born with 2 tails instead of one.

"My name is Tails."

Sans smiled, as he spoke out.

"The name's Sans. Sans Gaster."

Tails smiled, as he spoke out.

"Thank for helping Sonic out. Now sure how we would get Cream back without you."

Sans gave a thumbs up, as the 3 people fly away, in order to meet up with the others.

Back at the Atlas base again...

James Ironwood was not happy when he saw that Cream and Cheese had escaped with another one of her kind. The fact that Sans helped with that only makes things a but worse for him, as Sans has been one heck of a reoccurring problem. And clearly, he is not very happy with what had just happened when Sans decided to invade Atlas and took the creature out with his new friend.

James' eyes became dull, as his Semblance, Mettle, takes effect. He spoke out with a calm, emotionless expression in his voice.

"They will not get away from me this easily. I will find them, no matter what happens, no matter what it takes."

He look so isn't, as Winter than goes next to him.

"General..."

He looks at Winter, as she spoke out.

"We have a visitor who wants to see you, and he is also not from Remnant. he wishes to speak to you."

Ironwood looks down, before speaking out to Winter.

"Bring him in."

Winter nodded, as she opened the door, and a man came in, though he is covered in shadows.

A shadowy figure, rather having a wide body, but with a large mustache above his mouth, and his mouth is formed into a twisted grin of some kind. He also has goggles on his head, as he looks very...cruel.

"So...it seems you also have a blue hedgehog problem as well."

This caught Ironwood's attention, as somehow this man knows of the blue hedgehog that he had fought against.

"You know about what I had faced before?"

The man smiled, as he spoke out to James Ironwood.

"I must say, it is impressive what you have made. But unfortunately...it is nowhere compared to the machines that I had created, as they are far more advanced than yours could ever really be."

Winter snarled, as she spoke out to the man.

"What did you say?!"

She than stomps towards the man, but James Ironwood puts a hand on Winter's Shoulder, before speaking out to the man.

"You can help me take down that creature?"

The man nodded, as he spoke out.

"Of course. I have faced him for years, and he always foils my plan. I can lend you my technology...if you can lend me yours. Together...we can take those pesky annoyances down, and nothing still stand in the way."

Winter looks very worried, as she took a step back.

'I have for a really bad feeling about this.'

She looks down, and clenched her fist...as she thought to herself.

'I need to warn Sans, as soon as I get his name.'

Ironwood nodded, as he spoke out.

"Tell me...what is your name?"

The man smiled, as he steps into the light, and he spoke out his name.

"My name is...

Dr. Eggman."
