The Eight of Us [2]
❣Kirishimas pov❣
Bakugou's eyes widened. I proceeded to stare at his pupils when they drastically contracted. He then continued to stand there, suspended in fear. The rest of us looked on and shifted our attention to the cause of Bakugou's agitation.
It was Aizawa sensei, standing among the other zombie-like creatures. There wasn't much I could see on his face. Therefore, there wasn't much to observe about him. I soon enough grew more and more conscious of Bakugou's state. Right then and there was my time to take charge. To make sure Bakugou (and the others) remained safe.
I yanked at Bakugou's wrist, hardening myself in preparation for the mass amount of explosions that were once concealed in the snug pocket of his pants.
"If That's who we think it is, we need to go back and get the others. Now." I stated, attempting to be as calming as possible.
Bakugou looked at me and then my hand, which remained grasped at his wrist. He stared into my eyes causing me to shudder with realization.
Bakugou was petrified.
I could feel the pulse in his wrist quicken. And I could see he was fighting a battle within himself, losing against his buckling knees and the build-up of liquid in his eyes. An impulse action of protectiveness struck me as I swiftly picked up the surprisingly light blond by his waist and slung him over my shoulder, Obviously be as careful as possible. He didn't protest, instead, he buried his face into my shoulder sleeve. I could feel him attempting to regulate his breathing while I sprinted back up the steps, everyone else following suit.
We were being loud, Exceedingly loud.
So loud, in fact, we ditched our stealth plan and begun loudly taking advantage of our quirks. Todoroki's being the most noticeable. Surprisingly, Ice walls seemed to apply no effect on the monsters. Walls being broken down in less than seconds, they were getting stronger. The fire seemed to slow them down, but we were then rewarded with flaming zombies. And a godawful smell that vibrated through the halls. Mina's Acid seemed to do nothing to the zombies but allow them to rot, and smell, faster. proof of this was the plethora of decayed lone body parts scattered among the ground.
When we reached the top of the staircase Bakugou softly tapped the backside of my shoulder signaling for me to put him down. Which was the last thing I wanted to do, I know he's able to take care of himself but it seems unnecessary now that he has me. I reluctantly place him down and remained close to him as we rounded a corner. Which revealed the class we once left.
Suddenly, screams soon became the only thing occupying my sense of hearing. Coming from both in front and behind me. I angle myself in a position where I'm in front of Bakugou, but I'm still able to inspect my surroundings. Behind me, Uraraka screams as Midoriya pulls at her arm attempting to loosen the grip a monster has on her right leg.
Bakugou and I soon jump into action, pulling on Uraraka's arm as well. Her screams overpowered all others that filled the hall, we soon figured out why.
Crack
Her leg snapped and separated like a pencil would when applied a small amount of pressure. Her body went limp. And she began to fall toward a puddle of her own blood. Midoriya caught her, dread filled his eyes when he saw her flushed face and felt her cold fingers. He began to weep for less than a second as her body grew colder faster than expected.
Then his eyes became expressionless.
As if a sudden wave of realization hit him, A wave of realization that should have struck hours ago.
Midoriya laid Uraraka's lifeless body down and begun sprinting towards the cause of her death.
"Deku what the fuck are you doing?!" Bakugou ran after him not giving me enough time to react. Screams still surrounding me I started to lose my ability to think straight.
I turned away and forced my attention to the screams that were near class 1-A's room. I was able to identify the majority of my classmates, mentally matching screech to person. They were all in the processes of assisting each other, and If I decided I would offer my help I'd just get in the way. There seemed to be a few missing people but I wasn't going to allow my self to think anything other than that they're safe. Probably more for my sake than anything.
Once again I redirect my attention to Bakugou who has caught up to Midoriya by now. Even though its only been a couple of seconds.
Sprinting towards them I doge monsters left and right, never turning off my quirk. Even though it'd probably be useless in this situation.
I strain my eyes to keep my blurry vision intact. Blinking through the seemingly never-ending tears. I soon clear up enough to see Bakugou's face at the far end of the hallway as I clumsily ran. I could see he was mortified. Midoriya's eyes locked into mine and he smirked. Right before grabbing Bakugou by the shirt and pulling him into a harsh kiss, whispering something into his ear. He winked at me and used his quirk to send Bakugou flying towards my direction. Just as he purposely staggered the opposite direction and was immediately torn apart and bitten at by the monsters.
Midoriya threw bakugou with extreme force, but not so hard to where I wasn't able to catch him. I hardened only the back of my body in preparation for the force of the blond boy to send me back first against a wall, leaving my front normal so he wouldn't be injured. I caught him but still managed to cut him a little through the silky fabric of his shirt, Which is something I figured I'd address later but as of now, I had to get him to safety.
At this time Bakugou was unconscious so I wasted no time trying to swing him over my shoulder. Instead, I carried him bridal style and yelled to everyone around me (Others were observing what happened between Bakugou and Midoriya. And we're covering for me as I went to catch him.) to follow my lead. We ventured down the steps and through a couple of lengthy hallways before we exited. We didn't stop running there though, we continued till' we reached my house, which was the closest to the dorms.
I laid Bakugou down and called around for my parents because it was extremely late. No answer. I walked towards the house phone to call my parents. Once again, there was no answer.
I finally sit down after for what feels like years of standing. I was becoming more and more exhausted as the adrenaline wore off and as I saw a peaceful Bakugou asleep on my couch.
And then it hit me.
"Where the hell is everyone?" I exclaimed in a desperate, begging like tone.
In front of me I saw Tokoyami who's arms and legs had massive scrapes all around. Mina and Kaminari who were still crying, only quieter now. Sero, who remained stone-faced but was obviously hurting inside, Jirou who had a busted bottom lip and had a nose with dried blood under it and lastly, there stood Iida, who seemed to be lost in thought, but also as frightened as the rest of us.
"Where did everyone go?!" I repeated myself, but I wasn't looking for an answer, I just needed to come to terms that everyone was not safe and that it was foolish for me to think otherwise.
The tears that I held back for so long finally made their way down my face. Soon enough all seven of us were sobbing quietly, careful not to wake up Bakugou.
A good thirty minutes later we were all cried out. Since the only choice was to talk about today's, or rather yesterdays events (the time now showed 12:36) that's what we decided to do.
The stories about our friend's noble deaths did nothing but bring more tears to our eyes. The worst being Todoroki and Momo, who killed off monsters for others till' the monsters got them, and although the stories hurt they filled each and every one of us with a small sense of pride. Knowing that in the end, our friends did, in fact, become heroes.
"Hey, Kirishima?" Kiminari asked from among the group.
"Mhm?"
"Do you have any Idea why Deku kissed Kacchan?"
I felt a sudden jolt of jealousy vibrate through me. Which was almost immediately overwritten with grief from the loss of Midoriya.
"I dunno why don't you ask him yourse-"
Fuck
I let the tears fall again, briefly this time because I had my friends around me for comfort. They didn't cry this time so they could further remind me that everything would be okay soon. Those were words I had little confidence in but had no choice but to believe to keep myself sane.
Mina, seeking to lighten the mood decided to tease me a little. Everyone else followed suit.
"I mean like, when he kissed him your face was priceless Kirishima!" Mina asserted, attempting to conceal her shaky breaths.
"Huh?" I questioned.
"Yeah!" Kiminari continued. "Your fricken face screamed "Hey that kiss is mine!""
"Did not!" I protested clearly not going to win this quarrel.
"Did too!" This was announced loudly in unison. I quickly hushed them and gestured to the sleeping bakugou on the couch near us. They all nodded, Sero mouthing "Did too" repeatedly in my direction. I shrugged it off and proceeded to reply.
"Shut up. I don't like Bakugou like that" I then considered that statement for a while.
Holy shit. I like Bakugou like that.
