Appearance 00
Everyone is lifeless.
How long has it been this way? A familiar orange haired male managed to think aside from everything else. Although it did not seem like it, he hated it.
He hated everything. And most of all, he hated the words that came out of his mouth shortly after. "Is this what you wanted, Yoshida Ren?"
Just the thought made his stomach churn. This girl's name made his heart drop lower than his head at the moment. It wasn't her fault. Perhaps Hinata hadn't been so dense, he could have comforted her.
Saved her.
The sound of volleyballs seized, and yelling was heard after. Kageyama damning everything; everyone. This ginger couldn't hit a quick anymore- not like he used to. Maybe it had been partly Kageyama's fault. He hadn't been able to toss like his usual, and every time he did, Hinata would mess it up.
Now he hid himself in the closet, hugging his knees tightly and close to his chest. Tanaka's voice was heard, yelling at the setter of the team. It seems like Sugawara gave up on stopping the second year a while ago, he teared up when they fought- because he brought up Ren almost every time. Daichi couldn't really say anything. They were just taking out their anger... right?
Asahi tried his best to calm Nishinoya down when he got angry. And now, he was frustrated. Frustrated Yamaguchi hadn't come to practice for the past days. Frustrated Kiyoko was looking for a new manager to take her place. Frustrated that he couldn't do anything but go mad.
Ennoshita, Kinoshita and Narita seemed like the usual. Probably since they weren't as close to Ren as the others had been. Tsukishima...-
Tsukishima seemed alright. Aside from his usual saltiness, there was more agitation on the fact that the team barely played, but constantly yelled instead. He may have took it the lightest because what can one loss of a friend do?
It was his fault, he admit it. But there was no use in grieving like the others did. It wasn't my fault, I could care less, is what he told himself. And that's exactly what he did. He stopped caring- he lost feelings that'd usually be precious to anyone.
But not to Tsukishima Kei. Feelings like that were complete garbage. Kageyama on the other hand... He took it all on himself, by himself. He didn't say anything to Tanaka because he knew it were true.
He didn't take anything out on Hinata because he knew he was torn inside. Slightly less than he himself. If only he didn't assume things. If only he mind his own business, she would be here right now. Only because she's pretty much dead.
Ren was the only person who got Kageyama. 'You're much like me', her sweet but slightly deep voice echoed through his head. Tanaka... Kageyama sneered with just the thought of his face; his big mouth always yelling at him. The thought of ridding himself or him.
How much the raven haired male wanted to punch Tanaka. No. He wouldn't do it. He can handle this. After all, he's just a king.
Coach Ukai finally broke them apart, and Takeda-sensei calmed them down, although he knew what they were going through. How could a teacher like himself be blinded by everything. It doesn't make sense to him. In reality, Ukai had to be strong, and so did the assistant adviser. Even though he was almost, almost about to give up.
He couldn't do that to the team. They were already doing so well, and with the loss from playing Aoba Johsai, they needed to get stronger. They didn't want to play, but this is just a phase, they'll get over it. It'll sting for a while, but after that, it's not so bad. Although, it's still there, and it'll hurt when you think about it.
They just had to keep their mind off of Ren. Or... easier said than done. Hiyori hasn't been at practice, and she hasn't spoken to anyone. Even being around Tsukishima or Yamaguchi was a challenge for her. Sayaka...
Sayaka, well- she was still there, playing volleyball like nothing had happened. She speaks with many people, a little more social. What may be seemingly rude has an intention behind it. She needs her mind off of things- everything. Only then will she be okay.
And again, she's isolated. She does not dare to face Hiyori ever. However, Oikawa is doing his best alongside Iwaizumi. Get your mind off of things, Tooru, he would breathe whenever he had unsettling feelings, and that was frequently. His best friend knew what he was going through basing his emotions off of his own.
If only he answered that call. If only he checked up on her like he wanted to always. If only he spoke to her half of much as he wanted to; Oikawa was convinced he wasn't okay. Even though he isn't feeling the best, he still tries. He has a team to care for, and studies to attend, so why was everything going against him?
Why did she call when he wasn't there? Why was it him out of all people?
Fate is a cruel thing. Since destiny had them not know of her illness till after she was gone, she didn't receive help. Due to the escalation of her happiness in such little time, the downfall of her depression and anxiety had taken effect double the amount. This was all because of that rumour; the rumour wasn't the issue. It was the fact that everyone thought she would be okay, but that wasn't it.
Due to Yoshida's anxiety in the past, she was given antidepressants, but since she moved on, made new friends that she loved and cared about dearly, and forgot completely about her problems, she stopped taking the pills almost entirely. It usually takes some time to adapt to a change as such, but she was able to do that quick because of the people around her. That's why it affected her more than anyone could imagine; the way they turned their back against her made someone with such an issue go to the extent of attempting suicide. But even she thought twice... Or so her parents said.
That just proves how much she loved them. Even though she had been convinced everyone hated her, she loved them enough to try and stay alive, get help. And that is a great thing- usually, people wouldn't do that, but she had the will to actually call up someone to persuade her that she was still needed, that she didn't have to disappear like her friends wanted. But when Oikawa didn't answer the phone, her hopes of being wanted crumbled. Only then did she overdose.
The doctor told them that she may be brain dead, but since it was an overdose on none other than antidepressants, there is a high chance of her being in a coma. That doesn't mean that the doctor can't pull the plug on her life support... She really may die if she is brain dead. And even if they prayed for it to be a coma... How long would that be?
No more. No one wanted any more of this. They wanted Ren back. They didn't want anything else. Ren, and just Yoshida Ren alone.
Hinata hugged his knees even tighter to his chest, the thought of embracing Ren again made him do so. "Sensei, is it possible for you to grab Hinata from the storage?" The coach asked in a very gentle tone, fitting for the atmosphere surrounding the team in the gym. "I'll get him," Sugawara raised his hand slightly, with a very determined expression on. After being dismissed, the coach shook his head.
"Tanaka, when will you learn to calm down?" Daichi shook his head, and smacked him slightly on his back. Tanaka didn't give an answer, but tightly clenched his fists and pressed his lips firmly together. "Sorry..." Was all he managed to mumble out, and he shook his head.
Karasuno's Volleyball Club was falling apart.
As soon as Ukai turned his back to grab Hinata, a familiar voice sternly, "I'll grab him." Kageyama's eyebrows closely knitted together, but he felt bad. The coach didn't believe it, the setter was actually feeling bad- Well, of course he is, it's more so he actually didn't show it through his actions. "Okay! Alright team, let's get to-"
"Yoshida-san's awake!"
It only took that name to get everyone's head turning. Behind panting and deep breaths, the male at the entrance to the gym straightened his back, and mustered up the courage to say it again. "Yoshida-san woke up." And then suddenly, it went quiet. Hinata's ears perked up, and he opened the door of the storage room as fast as he could.
"You're not joking, are you?" Kageyama's eyes widened with shocked expression. "Yamaguchi..." Tsukishima mildly spoke, holding a volleyball within his grasp. "Th-The doctor notified her parents, a-and she's awake."
Coach Ukai then chuckled in disbelief, his eyebrows slanting, and Sugawara's eyes just started to water, but soon that turned to tears which he covered his face for. Tsukishima then dropped his volleyball, and started to throw off his shoes. "What are we waiting for? Let's go see Yoshida," Daichi smiled.
--
Ren's mother looked relieved, but unsettled. It was hard to tell when she had tears streaming down her face. A nurse walked out of the patient's room with a few towels, and smiled gleefully, "she's allowed to have visitors in now."
"We're allowed to go in then?!" Nishinoya asked seriously, looking at Daichi, wanting permission, a little impatient. The doctor just needed to talk to the adviser, manager and coach, the captain as well as all. No one minded, that's just what was supposed to happen. Tsukishima, with little expression, went inside.
The rest of the team followed Kageyama, who rushed in there faster than anyone else. His eyes started to get watery, and his heart felt more pain than when he heard of Ren's suicide attempt. There were no words, just the silence that spoke for them. Although, they all were concerned, and they couldn't wait to speak to her. To say sorry to her.
There she was- Karasuno's assistant volleyball adviser. And then she looked up to meet almost everyone's gaze, a little confused, except for Yamaguchi's. Even though, there was something missing... Yoshida Ren looked lifeless, as if she never did wake up. When they did look at her, it was as if they felt nothing.
No, it was more like Ren felt nothing. "Y-Yoshid-"
That's when Oikawa dashed in, with his nose red, and he looked like a mess. He stopped to just look at everyone who cared to look at him, before he rushed next to the girls side, and gave her the biggest hug he has ever given. Iwaizumi came in a few moments after, looking down. Usually, Tanaka would kick the Grand King out, but it's different this time. Yoshida Ren called Oikawa last, which meant she trusted him more than anyone on the club team, which made sense.
Yamaguchi wanted to say something- he wanted to say something so badly, but he knew he wasn't the only one to feel that way. It was a short while Oikawa embraced Ren with his life, but it took her a long while to wrap her's around him gently, hesitating. He then pulled away, and made eye contact. She showed barely any emotion, and made some to think that maybe she really wasn't okay to have visitors yet. She's probably just confused at the moment.
"I'm so sorry- I'm so, so sorry, Yoshi-chan," Oikawa then started to cry a little, causing the rest in the room to do so as well. Daichi and the rest then walked in, looking downwards. "Guys..."
"I really mean it, and we all missed you and... and-" The trash king then wiped his tears away. Out of everyone, Oikawa looked like he was in the most pain. "Wait..." A soft voice towards Oikawa made the boys and Kiyoko look up, Tsukishima about to say he was sorry as well, even though he wouldn't usually do that; he missed her, and he missed this feeling.
"My bad," Ren smiled sadly, and tilted her head a little to her right. "Who are you?"
A/N) Hey guys! I promised I would do a sequel, and after reaching 100K+ on Thirteenth, I finally got the courage to write it.
I just wanted to thank you all so much for supporting me through and through. I really hope you like this.
Also, this entire sequel is a trigger warning because it does speak about suicide and depression.
I also left some underlying things to consider, too. For example;
Why did Yamaguchi know Yoshida was awake before anyone else?
Why doesn't she look at Yamaguchi when looking at everyone else?
If she doesn't remember Oikawa, why hug him back?
When Tsukishima "misses this feeling", what is he implying to?
If Oikawa looked like he was in most pain, is it because he likes Ren? But what about Yamaguchi?
Does Ren really not remember everyone? Or is it just Oikawa?
I'd love to hear your all's opinion! I hope you liked this chapter ^-^
