3: The Ultimate Fangirl
Mal and Lia walk side by side heading towards where they hope is the holding chamber for the purpose of all of UNIT'S captured enemies.
"Hey hey hey!" The Doctor calls as he runs in front of the girls causing them to stop in their tracks, "Where do you think you're going?"
"To catch some aliens?" Mal points out as if it's the most obvious thing there is.
"Yeah, no," He says as he attempts to turn them around.
Lia immediately pulls away at his touch and glares at him until he takes his hand off of Mals shoulder, "Why not!" She snaps at him, "Is it cause we're children? Is it due to the fact that we're just a fifteen and a thirteen year old? Do you think that we're too immature to help!?"
"No it's just--," the Doctor attempts to say only to be cut off by a still ranting Lia.
" 'Cause we're not, okay! We're not just kids! Don't you dare think you're superior just because you've got a few hundred years on us! Don't even--."
"Lia!" Lia quits talking at the sound of Mals voice. She feels Mal place her small hands on her shoulders in an effort to calm her. When Lia quits talking the Doctor finally speaks up.
He clears his throat before talking, "As I was attempting to say before, we aren't heading to the holding rooms because there's no reason to. If there had really been a break out then what would we have heard?"
After a moment of thinking at the same time the girls answer, "Alarms!"
"Exactly!" The Doctor leads the two in the opposite direction of their previous direction.
"Where are we going?" Lia asks, following close behind Mal.
"You'll see," the Doctor says as he turns around to give Lia a wink.
After walking for a few minutes the three finally enter into a large room. There are screens of varying of many sizes covering the walls to the point that it appears they are constructed from them.
"Security room," Mal mutters mostly to herself.
"Yep," the Doctor nods, popping the 'P', "We'll begin to look through the tapes as soon as our guest arrives."
As if by cue the door flings open and in steps a tall woman with long blonde hair. Kate Stewart! Lia and Mal exchange unbelieving glances as they watch the second person from the show walk into the room. Their mouths only drop lower as one other woman steps in. Their idol!
She wears a jacket seemingly made of spare patches and, in her hands, carries four drinks from Starbucks in a holder. She walks nervously, not taking her eyes off of the floor. When she finally does look up she catches sight of the Doctor and freezes. Balancing the drinks in one hand, she searches through her pockets for her inhaler. When she finally finds it she takes a deep, shaky breath through it, then puts it once more away.
She leans over to Kate whispers, "I didn't know he would be here."
Kate simply chuckles at Osgood, "He's always there, even if you don't want him to be."
At that point the girls fangirliness is released and they let out a high pitched squeal.
"Osgood!" Mal shrieks.
"I know right!" Lia responds.
"Osgood?" Kate asks while looking at the cosplayer, "Isn't that your last name? I think I like it. Can I call you that?" Osgood gives a silent shrug that Kate accepts as a yes. Kate Stewart motions towards the cups still in Osgoods hands.
Osgood removes two of the cups and thrust one into each of the girls hands.
"What is it?" Lia asks as she takes of the top and smells it.
"Hot chocolate," Osgood replys quietly.
"Ooo!" Mal exclaims as she begins to drink. When she's had her filling she looks up to address Kate, "How'd you know it was our favorite?"
"We've kept an eye on you two," She winks.
Both the Doctor and Kate each take a cup as well, theirs most likely being filled with tea. After everyone is hydrated once more Kate leads them all over to one of the large screens on the wall.
"Security footage of the Cybermen holding facility," Kate begins. The girls both look at the screen to see a dimly lit room containing only three glass chambers. Each of the glass chambers housed a Cybermen seemingly dormant, "Connor had described that what had caused him to scream was big and metal, like a man. All of the Cybermen that we've captured are still in place."
"What if one came in from the outside?" Lia asks.
"One coming from outside of UNIT would be extremely unlikely. UNIT is able to detect all unhuman life forms. The alarms would've been buzzing instantly had one entered. You see, a Zygon may be able to enter. They could chage their appearance so that they'd have human DNA. I actually just had a run in with a Zygon last week. I think it tried to impersonate the queen. What ever happened to them? I can't seem to recall..."
"Doctor!" Kate stops him, not without taking notice of the girls exsesive giggling, "Thank you."
"So, what?" Lia asks, "Do you think Connor was lying?"
"No," Kate says, though it sounds as if she's directing her response more towards the Doctor, "I think that something is wrong but we are unable to identify what that is..."
Kate's voice just begins to trail off as Mal's stomach growls and Lia's growls a reply. Both the girls faces turn bright red in embarresment.
"Sorry," Mal mutters.
"Don't be," Kate assurs her, "Osgood? Would you take these girls to the cafeteria?"
"Yes ma'am," Osgood quietly answers. She leads the two girls out the door and down another maze of hallways in hopes of finding some food.
"So Osgood," Lia's the first to speak up, "How long have you been working here?"
"About a week now," she says.
"Really?" Mal exclaims. She can't believe that they're actually meeting Osgood in her early years, "Are you just her assitant?"
"Yeah," she answers quietly. Lia gives a small eye roll. The Osgood that they're used to is so much better at talking.
"So why'd you take up a job at UNIT?" Lia asks.
This causes Osgood to look up. A small smile begins to form on her lips as she says, "To meet him," she looks back down at the floor quickly as her ears start to redden, "But, I didn't think today. I wouldn't have worn this had I known he would be present."
"But you look so good dressed up like him! You should do it more often!" Mal exclaims. All they get is a shrug from her. Mal decides to drop it and, instead moves on to another topic, "Did you watch the show Doctor Who when you were younger?"
"Yeah," she says as she begins to speak up, "I loved the show. Never got a chance to watch the revived series, though..."
"Oh yeah, the shows great! It's our favorite."
"I know," Osgood shrugs.
Oh right, Lia thinks, they've been watching. Always watching, "Have you read our messages?"
"Me personally, no. The Doctor, Kate, and I aren't allowed to have a look because they apparently hold information of our future timelines. Wouldn't want to know that I'm going to be shot and killed by some maniac."
The two girls exchange nervous glances after hearing her words.
"Yeah, that'd suck, huh?" Lia laughs nervously.
Before anything manages to get any worse the three finally arrive at the cafeteria.
"Here we are," Osgood says giving a small smile, "I've to run back with Kate for the time being. Will you two be okay on your own?" The girls nod simitaneously, "Okay, then. Good!" With that she's off and the two girls make their way over to the food line.
"Did you really get a pear in the presence of the tenth doctor?" Mal teases as she scans Lia's tray.
"Yes, yes I did."
"But you heard what twelve said! Pears are too chewy and they'll make your chin wierd."
"That's just a superstition," Lia says sarcastically as she takes a seat at an empty table.
Mal takes the seat beside her, "Well don't come crying to me when you try to kiss your mother goodnight and you poke her eye out with Chinzilla!"
Lia laughs hard at her friend, "Well at least I don't have an apple! You know what they say, an apple a day keeps the Doctor away!"
The two girls continue to tease each other and laugh until their sides hurt giving them almost no time to actually put food in their mouths. They're jokes don't cease fire until two others join them at the table, one of them they recognize as Connor.
The other woman has to look twice to realize that the children in her presence are the ones she's been watching over for a while now, "Oh, it's you two."
"Wow, Malia, we really are famous here, huh?"
The woman gives a slight eyeroll before speaking up once more, "I only know you because I'm the one who has to read through all of your messages day and night."
"Oh," Mal sighs,"Well, uh, thanks for keeping the world safe from us, I guess."
"Is he okay?" Lia asks. Mal looks to find Connor shaking violently in his seat.
"Yeah. He's just a little shaken from what happened."
Little is an understatement, dear, Lia thinks.
"I need to use the toilet!" Connor suddenly burst out as he jumps up and bolts for the mens bathroom leaving all three of the girls left baffaled.

Connr walks into the bathroom but, instead of heading for the toilet, he stands in front of the mirror. He waits to be sure that no one is around before beginning to speak.
"I have the humans on edge, sir," he says to seemingly no one, "The ignorant ones all suspect a loose Cyberman. Is that diversion seen fit?"
"Yes!" A voice suddenly bellows from no where in particuar. The voice is deep and appears human but, at the same time, has a hint of robotic to it.
"Sir, the rumors have been proven true. The Doctor is present."
"Do not fear that fool!" The voice screams, "He is of much use to us now! He will be upgraded one way or another," Connor begins to reply just as another bloke enters in and begins to wash his hands in the sink, "Convert him," the voice speaks up in the back his mind, "He may have been listening."
Connor does as he's told. He grabs the man by the neck and pushes him up to the wall, unfazed by the mans frailing of arms and legs. The victim begins to reach for his gun but Connor's strength proves stronger than his and he pins his arms down as well.
"You will be upgraded!" Connor says in a one tone voice. Many tiny, metal like bugs crawl out from Connors shirt and onto the man.
The victim let's out a scream of disaproval as the Cybermites make there way up his neck. He is silenced, though, as the small bugs insert themselves onto his neck will they will be hidden from sight by his hair. Connor releases the man who now holds a blank expression on his face. Together the two walk out of the restroom and, as he does, it is clear that clinging to the back of his neck, are Cybermites as well. Connor adjusts his hair keeping his secret hidden from plain sight. A smile forms on both the mens lips as the listen to their boss congratulate them in the backs of their minds.
