"Mama! Mama! Renshu!"
"Hai, hai..." I sat up and rubbed my eyes, only to see Kouji standing in the doorway. "Hurry! Practice is starting soon!"
After getting ready, Kouji had (literally) dragged me downstairs. Everyone was already sitting down, so I guess there's an announcement. Luckily there was an empty seat next to Toramaru and Tobitaka. Kouji was sitting on my lap so there was no problem.
"Our last match in preliminary leagues with Orpheus is finally here. Only the two top teams in Group A will get to move on in the finals tournament." Aki started explaining.
"Here's the current ranking." Haruna's laptop (which was somehow connected to the TV) showed the rankings of the teams in Group A. "England's national team, Knights of Queen, is the only one who lost to many games. The four teams remaining each have one more match. In first place, with a score of 7 from 2 wins and 1 draw, is Orpheus. In second place, with a score of 6 from 2 wins and 1 loss, is us, Inazuma Japan. In third place, with a score of 4 from 1 win, 1 loss, and 1 draw is Unicorn. We may be in second place now, but if Unicorn wins against The Empire in their last game, they'll get an additional points to make their score a 7."
"So, if we lose our match with Orpheus tomorrow, our score of 6 will stay the same, and Unicorn will take our place in the finals tournament." Rosa continued. "If we continue with a draw, we'll score a 7 like Unicorn, and we won't advance into the finals without another deciding match."
"So, you're saying that our best chance for moving up to the finals, is by winning tomorrow's match no matter what." Kazemaru said.
"All right, guys! Let's practice for our match against Orpheus!" Endou stood up. His motivation really gets me and the rest.
"Mama, will you use those yosei hissatsus?" Kouji asked, looking up at me. "I haven't really mastered them all yet, and I don't even know all them." I sighed. I've read the notebook a lot of times, yet I just don't seem to get it...
"A Copy Cat and you can't even get it? Geez..."
"Ah, I didn't really ask permission, but a friend of Gina's here to help." Rosa asked, gesturing to the random girl that appeared in the room. She had yellow blonde hair, red or brownish colored eyes, and she was wearing... something similar to Aliea Academy's Chaos uniform... "Everyone, this is Suzuno Clara. If you know Suzuno Fuusuke, then this his---"
"Identical twin?!" Jousuke asked in shock, earning a sweat drop from Clara, and a sigh. "A fraternal twin." She said.
"What are fraternal twins again?" Jirou asked, facing Kidou.
"Fraternal twins are siblings born from different... well, you already know what kinds of cells are used in the reproductive system." Kidou said, clearing his throat.
"That's right." Clara said. "And I'm here to help that mini puffin of yours."
"Puffin?! I am penguin, thank you! I am not that lying penguin who deceives other people for their own benefit!" I defended.
"Sis, I think you watched too much 'Penguins of Madagascar'..." Jirou said, sweat dropping.
Clara sweat dropped too. "Anyway, if you're gonna win against Ardena tomorrow, this puffin has to learn at least three techniques from the Yosei notebook." She said. "And those three are the gonna be from easy to hard."
"Mama, can you learn those in just one day?" Kouji asked. I shrugged.
"Anyway... one of them is a trio technique, so pick your partners who have the most accurate speed." Clara suggested. I glanced at Shirou and Kazemaru, who smiled awkwardly at me. "I pick them." I said. "So you're gonna replace your brother, are you?" Kogure joked.
Replace
Replace
Replace....
"R-Rena?" Rosa tapped my shoulder, and I snapped out of my thoughts. "S-Sorry. Got distracted." I laughed a little. Clara raised an eyebrow. "I guess that's still there. Anyway, get your butts out to training."
We got out on the field and started training. I got the notebook in my room and I handed it to Clara. She only read 3 pages then looked at me sternly. "You get goggle head and snow boy. I'll explain the drill." She commanded. Once I got the two, Clara showed me, Kidou, and Shirou the hissatsu; It was called, "Convergence".
"How does it work?" Shirou asked, looking at Clara. I kept looking at the notebook again. "Hmm... Since this requires three players... Two of them are he bait while one takes the shot." I said. "You're correct on that, but the question is, how are you going to make your auras combine into one shoot?" Clara asked.
Kidou placed a hand on his chin. "Maybe we should think of one common thing... If we have to think of power, then we only think of power. If we think of speed, then we only think of speed." He explained.
"Basically, one is to one." Clara said, closing the notebook. "So, who's the shooter?" She asked. The three of us looked at each other. "I think I'll do it." I said.
"OK then. Get your positions then. Remember: Think of one, common thing." Clara commanded. Our position was a 1-1-1 style, me in front, Shirou behind me and Kidou behind Shirou at a respectable distance. Clara kicked the ball to us at a powerful speed. Kidou had fast reflexes and managed to kick the ball to Shirou, the ball being surrounded by light. Shirou kicked the ball to me, ice and light surrounding it. I kicked the ball hard enough to make it into the goal, gusts of wind surrounding the ice and light. It got in, but it faded.
"Well, that was a let down, but I'd say a pass." Clara sighed. "Next technique. It's called, 'Fubuki no Honoo'. Fire Blizzard in English." She explained, showing me the notebook again. Kidou was taking a look too, same with Shirou. "This is a solo shoot... Where one must combine the freezing power of ice and the burning power of fire..." I said. "It's like Daiguren Hyourinmaru, but without the flames." I added.
"You're gonna need to focus on this one." Clara added. "If you lose focus, you wont be able to get it. Snow boy, goggle boy, you watch her until she gets it right. I gotta check on the others, and your names so I won't give you any nicknames." She proceeded to walk to where Endou and the rest were. "Can you pass the ball?" I asked to Shirou, who must've read my mind since he was already at the goalpost. He kicked the ball to me. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I felt hot and cold at the same time. I opened my eyes and ran with the ball, kicked it up in the air, which was followed by a freezing aura and snow. I jumped up and followed it. "Fubuki no Honoo!" I kicked the ball that was surrounding by a flaming blizzard in the goal. "That was good, Rena-san! But it felt like you were holding back a little." Shirou said, handing me the ball back.
"Me? Hold back? You haven't really met me, have you?" I asked. I never hold back. Never. Not even once I never hold back. Even when using forbidden techniques I never hold back. "I'm no expert when it comes to this, but that's what it felt like. Ah, hold on. I have to get a drink." Shirou went to the managers to get a drink. How in the hell was I holding back?
"Thinking of something else?" I heard Kidou ask from behind me, freaking me out a little. I turned my head to see him smiling. 'No, Rena. Koujirou and Akio are already difficult to choose from, what more if Kidou was dragged into this?' I thought to myself. "Err, no. Not at the moment." I said. "I only knew you for a year, but I can tell you're lying." He says to me, the smile fading from his face. "Was it about last night?" He asked. I sighed. "Yes, it was... I'm not sure if I'm leading you, Akio, or Koujirou on. I like the three of you, really." I admitted. "I just can't choose from either of you guys. And honestly, you liking me after you rejected me, isn't something to be proud of."
"Shouldn't you just watch her instead of talking to her, Kidou-kun?"
We looked to see Akio standing in front of us with his arm crossed. "Shouldn't you be training with the others?" Kidou retaliated. "I do what I want, Kidou-kun. You should know that by now." Akio says, scoffing.
"Guys, this isn't the time to be having an argument, so just stop." I said. "Kidou, I think maybe you should---"
"Of course you're taking his side." Kidou glares at me.
"Hey, at least you don't have a kid to take care of." Akio jabs his chest, making Kidou turn to him, looking angry. "Well, I'd be surprised if you did have a kid to take care of, because maybe he'll run away due to your irresponsibility!"
"Say that again to my face, bastard!" Before Akio could land a punch, I grabbed his fist and stopped him. I glared at the both of them. "I said, this isn't the time to argue." "Blame Fudou for starting it." Kidou muttered.
"You whiny little---!" He used his other fist to punch him in the gut. "Akio!"
"You son of a---!"
"And I thought my team was a mess..."
The three of us saw my dad, standing there with his arms crossed. "Rena, Akio, Kidou. We're talking after your done with your training."
"Dad, what are you doing here?" I asked. "I did say in the letter there was going to be a surprise. I couldn't come yesterday because of... problems." My dad sighed. "Get back to your training. We'll talk later." My dad walked back inside the lodge. "Great. Thanks a lot you guys." I said sarcastically. "Just leave me alone for a while, OK?"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The three of us were alone in the dining room, though for some reason, I could tell that Endou and the others were watching us. My dad was giving us the look that... well, described disappointment and anger. "Arguing in the middle of training? Kidou, I know you too well, and this isn't like you one bit." My dad said, earning a sigh from him. "I... I just lost control and got mad." He said. "As for you, Akio," My dad turned to Akio. "Your uncle told me to keep an eye on you, but I said that my daughter was there to do that for me. And do I get? I hear from your managers that you kissed my daughter! THREE, TIMES!" Curse Haruna and Rosa for being chatty. I am so going to kill you both later. "And who is this kid that looks like my son?!"
"Dad," I started. "Kouji's an orphan. Trina and Allen gathered a team, and he was in it, but he suddenly collapsed and was brought to the hospital. He ran up to me and Akio saying that we looked like his parents." I explained.
"Mama, papa? Is mister still mad?"
We saw Kouji standing in the doorway, where Endou clearly failed to block. I mentally face palmed. "Kouji, go back with uncle Endou, we're still talking." Akio said calmly, though I know he was pretty pissed at the wrong timing Kouji gave. The little kid looked down before nodding and going back inside. "Sorry, sir." Endou bowed and closed the door. "OK, well that explained the little kid," My dad started. "But still!"
"Dad, it's nothing serious." I said.
"It's serious to me! Your best friend has been crying over the past few days!"
Koujirou? Crying? "Yeah, right." I scoffed. "Clearly he's interested in Nina."
"Speaking of her," My dad glared at Kidou. "Akio's not the only one who kissed my daughter."
"Hold up, you kissed Rena?!" Akio glared at Kidou.
"Last night was unintentional." Kidou said, raising his hands up in defense.
My dad rubbed his temples before looking back at us. "You two... have no idea how confused you made my daughter!"
"I already made my decision anyway." I stood up. "None of them. If this is over, I wanna go upstairs."
"Rena! We're not---!"
"It's done to me!"
*********************************************
"Mama, what did mister say to you three?"
"It's nothing, Kouji." Kouji wanted to stay in my room, so I let him. I really let Akio and Kidou on... and I let my best friend cry over me. First, betrayal, and now false hope? "Mama, I'm gonna say goodnight to papa first."
"OK, Kouji. Come back right after." I said. He nodded smiling and went out the door. Groaning, I lay down on my bed, letting sleep consume me.
(Rena's Dream)
Snow was falling down on Rena's face. When she came to, she was wearing snow clothes, except there was no scarf. Looking around, all she saw was a bench and a lamppost. "This..."
"Yeah, this is where we first met, Rena-chan."
Rena turned around to see a short boy who had white, spiky hair and turquoise eyes. He was wearing a white shihakusho and was holding a blue green scarf. "T-Toshi...?" Rena had tears in her eyes already? Wasn't he already dead? How was this possible? As if reading her mind, Toshiro chuckled. "I'm dead, but that doesn't mean I can see you in your dreams." He said. Rena blushed in embarrassment. "But, how come you're here now? Is something going to happen?" She asked. Toshiro looked at her sadly. "Garshield, Trina, and two other people whose names are Ivan Braginksky and Kuro Honda." He said.
"Garshield? Ivan? Kuro? Who are those?" Rena asked. "Trina's on the rise. Now that Kuroi's on her side, her plan's gonna be completed soon. Garshield is the man who killed Kuroi's parents." Toshiro said.
"So Trina used Garshield's name to lure him in!" Rena said.
"Ivan is a partner of Garshield in an oil industry, and he despises soccer. Soccer destroyed his family since his country kept losing the FFI twenty years ago." Toshiro started. "Kuro's an ex-player for Japan. Your father knows him."
Rena was angry. Really angry. "Get angry, it won't really do anything..." Toshiro said, looking at the scarf. Rena's anger turned into sadness. "Toshi, I'm sorry for killing you... I wish I never forgot my scarf..." She had tears in her eyes. Toshiro looked up at her, and placed the scarf around her.
"T-Toshi...?" Rena sniffed and looked up at him. Toshiro wiped her tears away with his thumb, smiling. "I'm proud of you, Rena." He started. "You found yourself again."
Snow was surrounding the both of them. "Not to mention, you mastered Daiguren Hyourinmaru without Fudou teaching you."
"Toshi... wait, you can't leave yet! You're---"
"That's yours." Toshiro gave a closed eye smile. "It's my late birthday and Christmas gift. And besides, you wanted to see me for at least a while." He said. "Now, you have."
"Wait, Toshiro! Don't leave!"
"I'll see you, Rena." Toshiro said as snow began surrounding him, making him disappear...
