Chapter 4; Stubborn She-cat

Drake's POV.

I was sitting on the humans bar, looking down at the black, white and ginger she-cat. She ate from a human plate that was rested on the white tiles. That told me that the humans had only just got her and hadn't baught her a cat bowl yet.
Arc sat on my right, watching the she-cat curiously. "She's ignoring you sir." Arc said with a mixture of curiosity and surprise in his tone. "I know that." I mumbled angrily under my breath.
"Hey Ma'am, what's your name?" Arc asked innocently and I growled under my breath at his friendly question.
The she-cat looked up from her bowl to meet Arc's gaze. Her eyes were soft and friendly when she looked at him.
"My name is Clawess, Whiskers. What's yours?" she said and I huffed loudly in frustration. The friendly conversation was getting on my nerves and I wanted to get out of this place.

"He's Arc, I'm Drake you're Clawess. Wow, now we all know each other." I said, my voice was thick with sarcasm. "Now follow me out of this place before I drag you out myself." I hissed bitterly and Clawess turned her gaze to me, her soft eyes becoming hard and stubborn.
"Try." she said simply.
"What?"
"Try."
"Try what?" I asked and she replied with a bored and careless tone.
"And drag me out." she replied and huffed.

"No, just come with me. You said it, these aren't your humans, so you should have no problem leaving them." I said and the She-cat, Clawess, sighed.
"Why is cats being with humans such a big deal? What do you have against a cat and human relationship?" She asked and I growled. "I already told you, cat-human relationships are destroying the reputation of cats! Humans are greedy creatures who desire only whats good for themselves.
They separate families, abandon cats, brainwash them and trap them! I'm trying to free cats like you!" I hissed angrily.

Clawess didn't seem fazed by my anger, it just seemed to make her want push her question further.
"Yeah, but they aren't all like that! Where did you get the crazy idea that all humans are bad?" She asked, and I replied simply.
"They are." But my reply went unnoticed as she continued.
"Did something happen to you once? Did you have an encounter with a bad human that left you believeing they were all that way?" she said.

I scrunched my face angrily at her questions. "What does my past have anything to do with now?" I growled.
"You can't blame all humans for what one human done!" Clawess said, seeming to be either ignoring or not noticing my rising anger. "You don't know me!" I hissed through clenched teeth.
"What are you so afraid of?" Clawess continued ignoring my angry comments.
"YOU DON'T KNOW ME!" I hissed loudly, silencing Clawess and making Arc jump beside me.

Fuming, I turning around and jumped back out the window I had come in from.
I padded out of the backyard and onto the street. She had no right to insist on me telling her my past or my scars! She's used to having it all her way in that house, who does she think she is!
I stomped angrily down the footpath.
Flashes of a cats body hanging from a tree, flashed in my mind but I quickly shook my head. Forget it. This is what happens when you let your guard down. I sighed sadly.
But now I know, if you don't care you will never get upset or feel guilty.
Love leads to sadness and caring leads to guilt. But I'll never make that mistake again.

😾😻😾😻

Clawess's POV.

I sat silently on the humans floor.
How could I be so dumb! Why did I insist? It wasn't any of my concern!
I sighed, feeling the guilt creep up my throat. I guess I shouldn't feel too guilty, he was the first person I really spoke to since as far back as I can remember. I looked at Arc apologetically. I guess I just need to socialise more. I gotta learn not everything goes my way in a conversation. I guess I'm just too used to talking to fans.
"Well, I guess we should go after him huh?" I asked and Arc nodded.
"Yeah, we probably should. I've never seen him so mad." Arc said and I nodded, feeling even more guilty now.

"Let's go." I said, jumping onto the bar and out the window. Arc followed close behind me as we padded out of the humans yard. We walked down the footpath in silence, looking right and left for Drake.
"So, is he your dad or something?" I asked Arc now. Last time I asked I didn't really get a proper answer. Arc shook his head.
"No, I just met him last night. He freed me from my humans." Arc said. I looked at him with a bit of surprise. "Did your humans trap you or something?" I asked and Arc nodded. "Yeah, me and my five siblings have lived at the pet store for as far as I can remember, but I never got along with them. Just a couple of days ago my humans baught me, but they didn't like me because I'm a bit wild and stubborn. I was excited to be free of the petstore but the humans didn't like all my energy. So they just kept me in a cage most of the time. I hated it. But Drake helped me escape!" Arc exclaimed in excitement.

I smiled at him. Maybe Drake helping cats wasn't so bad. But forcing cats to leave, and intruding into random human houses, that wasn't really a good thing either.
"So you just tagged along?" I asked and Arc nodded. "Yeah, I don't have any other choice do I?" Arc asked and I shrugged.
"Well, there he is." I said, spotting the grumpy cat padding along the footpath.
