Chapter 5

Chapter 5
Of Nifflers and Erumpents

Newt didn't talk to Rosemary for a few moments later, as they were walking through the dark streets of New York.

Rosemary hung her head low and kept really, really quiet. This was the Rosemary that she now knew. She faintly remembered her Hogwarts days, and some of her friends (if she had any,) say that she was very different now from who she was in Hogwarts.

"Why didn't you tell me." Newt pointed out quietly. Rosemary didn't reply immediately. Why didn't Rosemary's memory clicked quicker?

"I.. I don't know. It's seems like I have amnesia from my Hogwarts years." Rosemary admitted quietly, and tried so hard not to meet Newt's gaze.

He didn't say anything about it, when they passed by a jewelry shop. Newt suddenly halted, which almost threw Rosemary back and flying.

"Note to self: look where you're going." Rosemary muttered to herself while Newt was poking around the window of the shop. Then Rosemary knew what he was looking at.

Inside was the Niffler, the platypus-billed creature, who pretended hard to be some kind of statue. But failed.

Newt immediately grabbed his wand out. He uttered a spell that Rosemary didn't quite catch, and the glass windows broke. "Uh.. Oooohhhh..Kay." Rosemary trailed off, as she backed out. Kowalski's eyes widened.

Newt was making quite a racket, and Rosemary gave a sigh, as she jumped inside the store to help Newt.

The Niffler was really quick on its feet, that little rascal. "God Lord!" Rosemary exaggerated, as she tried to reach for the creature, but it always slips off.

"Come on!" Rosemary was in the verge of raging, or what she hear muggles call "rage mode". Yes, she was really going to go on "rage mode".

"Rosemary! Behind you!" She whirled around to see the Niffler fly past her head, and Rosemary held her hand out just in time to catch the creature.

"Whew." was all Rosemary could pant. She could hear Newt's faint and shallow breaths, but she felt him smile behind her.

As the exited the store, there were police cars parked outside the store, and Kowalski immediately went on a story. "They went that way!" He lied, but they saw right through it.

Newt sighed, and he grabbed Kowalski and held Rosemary's hand as they Apparated away.

They were thrown down at the floor, of a snowy floor. "Looks like a park." Rosemary commented. Of course it is a park, her mind replied to her.

Newt shook the dust that built up on his jacket, when they heard a howl. Newt immediately got his wand out.

"An Erumpent." He said, and walked quickly to the direction of the sound. Rosemary followed behind him, after she helped Kowalski up. "Call me Jacob." He then told her. "I didn't catch your name."

"Rosemary." She breathed and ran after Newt, who was busy trailing the sound of the beast.

It was getting colder, and Rosemary snuggled against her furry coat. She should've brought with her her gray beanie, and Ravenclaw scarf.

Newt seem to notice. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled Rosemary closer to him. Rosemary hugged him for warmth.

As they walked across a bridge, Newt handed Jacob some kind of protection helmet, and a wooden chestplate. "Here, wear this." He said.

Jacob gave him a puzzled look. "Why?" He asked Newt, who was busy emptying his pockets for his wand.

"Because your head is quite fragile, and you might get hurt or something." He replied to Jacob's query. Jacob's mouth shaped into an o, and he immediately wore it with no finesse.

Rosemary brandished her own wand as they neared a seems-like zoo, and she let out a small gasp from her mouth when she saw it.

The Erumpent was huge. Like almost elephant-huge, but maybe even bigger. Rosemary wondered how was that going to get in the case.

"Stay behind the wall. Do not move in any way. Okay?" He instructed Jacob, who nodded at once. He then turned to Rosemary. "Try to do the same."

Rosemary gave him a curt nod and Newt ran inside there at once. She peeked behind a pillar as the Erumpent howled yet again.

Newt set his suitcase down. He crouched down, and imitated an Erumpent's sound. The creature looked back and forth, as if trying to differentiate where the sound was coming from.

Rosemary smiled in awe and wonder. Newt turned back to her and gave her a smile then imitated the sound again.

Rosemary had her wand out. "Lumos." She uttered and her wand emitted a shining light that brightened the dark corner she was in.

She watched Newt as he crouched down, and rolled on his belly, pretending to be an Erumpent who was undergoing mating.

Rosemary stifled a laugh when she saw him. He was indeed gifted with the language of these creatures. She never thought she would ever meet a man just like Newt Scamader.

He was different. He was unique in his own way, and it was a special thing about him.

Newt wasn't the typical handsome man that girls swoon over, he wasn't even exactly that handsome! But his unique creativity made her...

It made Rosemary feel as if it was love at first sight.

Then she smelled somethinh, the Erumpent immediately caught a whiff of it, and that's when Rosemary realized it came from Jacob's vial.

"Uh oh." was the words Rosemary could only say before the Erumpent raced for Jacob.

The poor muggle, cowered with fear and terror of the Erumpent, ran for his own dear life. Newt had an "oh, come on!" face visible.

Rosemary wasted no time waiting. "Come, on!" She shouted and ran after Jacob, who was running like crazy.

Newt had difficulties because seemingly, a monkey snatched his wand out of his grips. And he was trying so hard to bargain with it.

Rosemary didn't bother to wait for Newt, and just ran for Jacob. He had a face full of fear and panic. "Wait, there, Jacob!" Rosemary shouted and ran back for Newt.

She found him bargaining with the monkey, the wand for a completely ordinary stick. "See? Same thing." He held his hand out for the wand. The gullible monkey got the stick from his hands and gave him his wand.

"Come, on!" Rosemary said, as she raced back to where Jacob was, and now he was slipping across the ice.

"God, damnit." Rosemary cursed under her breath, and slid across the ice, and tried to draw the attention of the Erumpent away from Kowalski.

"Newt! The case!" She shouted as the Erumpent ran for Jacob, who was still slipping over the slippery ice (of course, Rosemary. He slipped.)

Newt was running towards the Erumpent, with his case open. The beast then ran towards Jacob, who was frozen in the floor, and his face gaped with horror.

Then, just at the nick of time, Newt got to the Erumpent, and it went inside the case, safe and sound.

Newt was panting loudly, as well as Jacob, at the floor. Rosemary couldn't help it but release a laugh that was on her throat. A laugh of triumph, a laugh of victorious joy. Newt, looking as if she was crazy, joined in.

Jacob was the one who didn't care and laughed like a crazy maniac. Soon, the air filled with their joyous laughter.

Newt pulled Rosemary close to him, and gave her a slightly affectionate peck on the cheek. "Thank.. you." He whispered in her ear, his warm breath tingling Rosemary's skin, making her blush profusely. "No problem."

Newt then set his suitcase down, and jumped right into it. Rosemary followed after him. And finally, Jacob Kowalski squeezed himself in, and the suitcase closed shut.

Just at the time it closed, Tina Goldstein appeared into view, and got the suitcase of the floor.

"Now, I'm taking you to MACUSA." She thought in her head, and off she went to their headquarters.

Hey hey hey! Two chapters again. Boredom has officially taken over me today 😂. So.. Do you ship Rosemary and Newt? Or the old-fashioned Tina and Newt? Newtmary? or Porpenewt?
Haha, don't take sides yet. I have my twists 😅. The edit I made above, I thought it was about time I made a Rosemary and Graves one. Bye now, peeps! Vote and comment and tag!
