Chapter 26: Confronting an Old Friend.
(I've written this chapter like 50+ times since it kept deleting itself. So sorry for the long wait, and enjoy ^^)
Gold (POV)
Anger. The only thing that I felt the whole flight to Johto. Everyone on the flight had their eyes on me, and nobody dared to sit next to me. I didn't sleep the entire flight. I stayed up and ready. I had read that planes mysteriously went down because they were attacked. Did I believe it? Quite frankly yes. At this point, I believed everything on the news that seemed realistic.
The whole flight the plane was quiet. I sometimes would hear whispering, but with 15 minutes left before I arrived in Johto, I was positive that we were safe. I could feel Explotaro's Pokeball shaking in excitement. I could imagine the other people on this flight were happy that I wasn't gonna be in their sights anymore. Honestly, this is the worse flight I've ever been on. Yet, I could picture myself beating up Red in a battle right now, and his Team losing determination to keep fighting, meaning their team would lose the war, and then we just have to get Delia's Team to show mercy- Then this war could end right then and now. No more blood would have to be spilled. I have to win this battle.
Thats when I heard a scream and a siren go off. Then a loud explosion. I looked back and I could see fire. Not to mention a big hole in the airplane.
It was Getting Attacked.
I could see people holding onto the chairs and screaming. Yet I could see the Pokemon Destroying the Plane was a Dragonite. And on its back was a trainer in a ninja suit. I tried finding Togetaro's Pokeball, but the plane kept shaking making it hard to concentrate to find it. Thats when the person who flew on the Dragonite grabbed me and my bag. His grip was strong yet harsh. Felt like a Pokemon using wrap. He dragged me to Dragonite making sure I couldn't escape. The plane was nearly about to hit the ground. With about only 1 minute left.
The Dragonite grabbed me and gave me quite a deadly stare. I looked to see the people on board grasping for their loved ones. The man had taken the parachutes and thrown them off the plane. These passengers had no way of escaping. The flight attendants tried to calm them, but it barely helped. I could see barely the Pilots saluting, knowing their demise was... inevitable...
The man flew off the plane with the Dragonite holding me. We flew here watching the plane inch closer and closer towards the ground.
I watched in horror as the Plane had hit the ground, and an explosion was seen. There were 121 people on that flight... All Gone...
"Why did you do this?!?! They were all Innocent People!" I cried. The flyer didn't answer, and began to fly off again. I could see the Airport just a few miles away off in the distance. The man seemed familiar, as if I already met him prior to this. I could see this Dragonite belonged to Lance however. This person didn't even own this Pokemon. Yet, disregarding my question completely, the man told me the following:
"I would've let you died if you weren't going after Red right now. You won't beat him, I'm saying that right now. Your still a weak and a pathetic runt. I'll still let you go see Red, but don't expect any progress to be made."
Thats when I know who he was. Elite Trainer A. The one who knocked Me, Ash, and Gary out.
"Your on Team Red! Why are you sabotaging him??? You did your first order! Whose Side are you on!?!?!" I angrily yelled. He took off his Ninja Mask to show the face I had seen previously back in Kalos. "I don't have to obey you. Your no threat, despite you being a General. You're practically no threat. Quite the opposite if you think about it." The man didn't seem to want to talk. I was about to throw a punch at him, but that Dragonite was staring me down. In the distance I could see serious trainers who were part of Team Red threaten anyone near them that ain't on Team Red. The man had dropped me near them, and just gave me an emotionless look. Then he flew off into the sky at incredible speeds. I was beyond mad, but soon the kids began approaching me. By kids I mean teenagers. "Hey look boys, it's the traitor. What you think he's doing in our territory? Whatever, lets get em and show him who are the real stars of this War!" Said what I assumed was the leader of the teenager group. They weren't even attacking me with Pokemon, they wanted a Fist fight. Yet, before they threw their fists, they hesitated. They started at something behind me that was red. Soon I saw them run away crying.
I turned around to see something flying away and a rainbow feather on the ground.
I was spared it felt like.
I cautiously tried to walk pass the seriously dedicated Team Red Trainers. They were talking about some sort of Plan. As much as I would've like to hear them talk about the plan, it would be risky of me to do so. I kept walking and didn't hear a thing about what they were talking about. I kept walking to the Airport so I could heal myself and Pokemon. The Dragonite's Grip felt like it broke some bones in my body. I can't tell if it's sore or broken. Whatever the case, I would begin my pursue of attacking Red tomorrow.
When I arrived at the airport, people were all watching the news of the Plane that had crashed. I saw People crying, and some family members of those people were taking it very harshly. Crying and Sobbing, it was sorrowful to look at. I kept walking trying to not look at their pained faces.
I arrived at the Airport's Motel where you could stay at if you needed to. I paid the employee 80 Pokedollars, and dropped my supplies I had thankfully carried. My photo of my friends and family was cracked from the impact of the Dragonite. But, That didn't really matter. I didn't need to worry about that right now. For now, I headed to the Airport's Pokemon Center to heal my Pokemon. Nurse Joy then proceeded to give me a Check-Up. "General Gold, I would be careful around these parts. People here aren't very... Lets say they aren't that polite. Since your a General, your gonna get targeted heavily. Just be careful. As for this Checkup, your heart rate is increased by 2 from the average heart rate. Be careful, or you might have a Heart Attack. I advise you rest for a little bit, if you can at all." Nurse Joy was super nice and even gave me a lollipop afterwards.
That night, I was already planning on tomorrow's trip to the Mountain. I looked at different routes, and many landmarks on the mountain, and all of it was coming together. Red would likely be at the top of the Mountain where an old ancient throne sits. It was very snowy up there, so it'd probably be cold. But that doesn't really bother me. I don't really feel the cold, and it's been a health concern for awhile.
With a Plan in mind for tomorrow, I finally hit the hay and went to bed. Yet, I couldn't sleep that night. I tossed and turned, and couldn't stop shaking. No matter how many times I tried to close my eyes, they wouldn't stay shut. Something kept me awake all night, and that was the photo. I couldn't stop staring at it. Looking at the red crosses would just give me chills. Explotaro was fast asleep, snoring softly on me. I was glad, I don't want him to worry. So, I sat in bed for about an hour and a half trying to fall asleep. The moon was shining into my window, and I could hear some Noctowl in the Distance.
Eventually, I did fall asleep...
The Next Day Came...
The Sun was shining brightly, but in the Distance some gloomy dark clouds were beginning to come in. I could see some Lightning already, but I couldn't think of that.
I was already beginning to head out by 7 A.M this Morning, and Explotaro and I took the back route so nobody could spot us. We kept walking towards Mt. Silver, and I was about to text Ash that I was beginning my ascension, only to realize...
My Phone was Missing...
I checked everywhere, and no sign of it, and I was panicking.
"I told Ash I was gonna keep him updated, and that if I don't text him in within two days he would have to search for me! Explotaro I..." I was speechless, and beginning to get really anxious.
"I'm gonna have to climb this fast..." I told Explotaro as I kept marching forward. He looked concerned for me when I said that, but reluctantly followed.
The more I walked, the faster my heart rate went up, and it was soon getting hard to breathe. Explotaro kept trying to stop me, but I kept walking. My chest was hurting majorly, kept pounding like
BOOM BOOM. BOOM BOOM.
I was getting slightly concerned now, but I was only 1/4th of the way up the mountain. I had to keep going, but every step I took made me want to faint. Eventually a heavy snowstorm stirred up, so I made the excuse to take a break for Explotaro's Sake. He seemed VERY unhappy with my decision, but I needed to breathe. We sat in a little cave to try to stay out the wind, but despite the Heat Explotaro was giving, I was freezing cold. I kept shivering, but my heart was finally slowing down. I fed Explotaro some poke food and myself a banana hoping to give us more energy. When the storm stopped we kept moving forward, marching up the mountain.
Halfway up the Mountain, we began to encounter Trainers who were searching for Red as well. Many seemed to be on Team Delia, so I tried to avoid them as much as possible. But then one trainer saw me. I panicked as I began running up the path, I could hear them calling for me, yelling "General Gold! Please wait!" I didn't trust them one bit, and kept running. Eventually I slipped on some black ice on the path and fell on my chin, making me feel TONS of pain. Explotaro began to growl at the Person, and I turned around to see a Trainer wearing a Pink Hoodie and having a Purple Cape. She reminded me of some other girl.
"Gold don't have a Panic Attack, I ain't here to challenge you." She told me while helping me get up. "I was gonna guide you up the Mountain was all, and make sure you're gonna be o..." She was saying until Explotaro fired a Flamethrower at her face. That shocked me, only to see the lady was unharmed.
"Calm down there... You wouldn't wanna start an avalanche would you? They are quite fatal." She had told Explotaro who soon backed down.
"Who Are You? And why are you doing this!?" I asked her waiting for a response.
"My Name is Star, and I'm doing this for the Plo- I mean so that you can find Red quicker. I want this War to End, and for that to happen you're gonna have to fight him. Whether you win or not doesn't matter as long as you try. Think of me as a neutral person, here to guide any side, but in this case I'm helping you." She had said while pointing up the Mountain. She seemed like a Trainer I wouldn't want to fight, she seemed mighty and powerful, as if she were a Champion.
"Very Well... I trust you will lead me up the Mountain." I told her while she brought out an Absol. She gave me a thumbs up as the Absol began to walk up the path. She began leading me up the Mountain, taking many hidden paths that I myself didn't know about. I had asked her many questions, and she happily answered.
"Why are You Up here?"
"I was training my Pokemon, the harsh environment here makes training a lot easier."
"How Would You Say Your Battling Skills Are?"
"I would say I'm a decent trainer, although many have praised me for my brilliance in battle."
"How come you know this Mountain so Well?"
"When I was younger, I was told this place would make you a Greater Trainer, and like any other 10 Year old I wanted to be the Very Best like no one ever was."
"If I were to battle you, do you think you'd win?"
"I'd say I would have a 60% chance of winning, but only because I currently only have 3 Pokemon on me."
She seemed very confident in her abilities as a Trainer, but wasn't too selfish to say she was a Great Trainer. But by me just Looking at her... Her whole form just screams she's an amazing battler, one that could rule the entire world if she desired. It was odd how I never had heard her before in any news. She seems like she'd be popular. I noticed she had a wedding ring, she was wearing fingerless gloves and that thing had a Diamond :O.
"Your married?" I asked her curiously, until a Group of Trainers popped out of nowhere. They were apart of Team Red, clearly. Explotaro growled, and I was about to grab another Pokeball until Star stopped me. She gave me a smile, and walked forward with Absol.
The trainers had summoned a Garchomp, Dragonite, and Corviknight, pretty powerful Pokemon in my eyes. The Corviknight honed its claws while the Dragons fired a Dragon Pulse in perfect sync. Star didn't even say a word, and Absol just took the hit.
Yet, when the smoke cleared, it was undamaged. The trainers were also shocked along with the Pokemon. Star snapped her Fingers and Absol had used Swords Dance. The Corviknight was going to use Steel Wing on Absol, but Star just nodded her head, and Absol using Shadow Claw grabbed the Steel Wing and the Corviknight. It seemed as though it was easily overpowering it. Then, the Absol threw the Corviknight back at the Two Dragons as they clashed with their trainers. That Absol was POWERFUL. Never have I seen some trainer destroy 3 trainers with 1 Pokemon with such ease, with no talking from Star!?!
The Trainers dropped their cash, and ran off into the Mountain. Star handed the money to me, and kept walking. It was only now when I noticed the Key Stone she had, and the Mega Stone Absol had. This lady was NUTS! "Gold, are you coming or do you wanna freeze to death in the Cold, we are almost to Red." She sarcastically told me. I hurried towards her, and we kept heading up. Now I had even more questions for her, she seemed like a Champion... No... MORE THAN A CHAMPION. Other than a select few like Ash had I ever seen somebody have such a bond with their Pokémon to not have to speak to give them commands. Reminded me of... Diantha and her Gardevoir... Not to mention Ash and his Greninja. It was crazy, how was this lady not Famous!?
As we headed up, we got into more and more battles, all of which Star easily won with no efforts. It was astonishing watching them fight. All the trainers seemed to begin to fear her. Her Absol kept beating them up after using Swords Dance, and it attacked so... elegantly...
Eventually, we got to the Top of the Mountain, and we stopped before the Tunnel which is where presumably Red is. I thanked Star for everything she had done, and she seemed to enjoy it.
"Star, I have a question for you! Before you go!" She was already beginning to head down. "What might that be Gold?" She responded with a calm gentle voice, it was beginning to slightly snow.
"Why don't you just fight Red yourself? You could EASILY beat him!?" I told her as a harsh wind blew past. She smiled and looked towards the ground.
"You know, that isn't my Fight, thats yours and Ash's Fight to win. I shouldn't be messing with you anyways, this might effect the timeli- I mean Future. I would beat Red, but in the end, nothing will have been gained. The Future would be messed with, and later I'm sure karma would hit me back. Its better if I stay on the sidelines, for your sake and the world's sake. But I'll be rooting for you." She told me while beginning to head down again.
"Will I ever see you again!?!" I asked while the snow picked up more. She turned around as the snow began to engulf her making it hard to see her, and she smiles and waved goodbye.
The wind was HARSH. Felt like Crystals were hitting the mountain, so me and Explotaro ran into the tunnel before Red to hopefully get out the cold, but it wasn't much. The coldness up here was crazy, and unbearable. I was shivering so badly even inside the cave. This place wasn't meant for humans it felt like. Yet, I moved on. My body may be freezing, but there's still a fire inside of me telling me to keep going until you see Red fall.
With that, I left the tunnel to see a long staircase. It was snowing harshly, it was getting so hard to see, but I ran up the stairs, Filled with Determination. Every step echoed down the mountain, every breath instantly turned to mist, and then I stood there. Before a Throne with one lonely man sitting there with a Orange Lizard behind said throne. Piercing Dark Red eyes stared at me, and the Lizard was huffing and puffing. He seemed unflinched by the Cold, and seemed normal. It made me question whether Red was even Human.
"YOU...I once called you my Friend, almost like my Brother... Now you've taken my Friends, My FAMILY. And here you are sitting here like some King of the World. You started a war between regions for what!? Your Son not joining you!?! You caused people to DIE because of a Family Argument! LOVED ONES HAVE DIED THANKS TO YOUR SELFISHNESS. How could I ever call you my Friend. So... Instead of Calling you Friend... I'm calling you FOE. I'm ending this Tantrum of Yours ONCE AND FOR ALL RED..."
"WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF!?!"
Red stood up off his Throne as Charizard Roared. He gave me such an emotionless look, and pulled out a Pokeball.
"..."
He was making me angry, I sent out Explotaro to deal with him. Yet, a little part of me was reminded of some good memories we had together. I wanted to forgive Red, but after what he's done, I don't think anything will make me forgive him."
End of Chapter 26
Author's Note:
I APOLOGIZE FOR HOW LONG THIS TOOK TO GET OUT! My Wattpad has been glitching a lot and making me unable to write this Chapter as it kept deleting itself and all my work! This should've been out months ago, but only now have I been able to release it. I haven't forgotten about this book, and never will >_>. I apologize for the delay of this Chapter, but its finally out and I hope you enjoyed it.
As for the new Character, Star, she is indeed one of my OCs. If you couldn't tell, she did break the 4th Wall a few times... How odd. She has a VERY VERY complicated backstory that will be taking a VERY VERY long time to write, but I ain't sharing that here xD. It'd be probably longer than this, but just note we might be seeing her periodically.
That's All I really have to say, thank you for 12k views, and thanks for your patience. Hopefully next chapter won't be glitched, lets just hope >_>.
