(y/n)'s POV
A knock on my door caused me to sigh, "Yes?"
"Lord Vader wanted you to be informed that he was leaving." One of the clones told me without opening the door.
I rolled my eyes. Is he seriously throwing a tantrum?"And when will he be back?"
"I'm sorry, he didn't say. He left alone which usually means it's a short trip."
"Thank you." I said low and the clone on the other end walked away. It's been a few hours since he barged out of my room and I was currently laying in my bed as I balanced my lightsaber above me with the force. The sound of my stomach rumbling pulled me out of my love frustrated thoughts; I haven't eaten anything today and I probably should get something so I don't end up feeling sick again.
I placed my covering over my face and walked out of the bedroom to proceed to the cafeteria. That is, until I walked past a familiar doorway that led to the one place that I was forbidden to enter. One of the older women that I recognized as an employee came out with a few empty trays, "Dahlia." I spoke her name and she immediately jumped by the sound of my voice. The trays she held began to fall, but I caught them with the force.
She swallowed nervously as she composed herself, "Thank you Lady Anya," She began grabbing the trays from the air so I could release my hold on them, "My apologies, I didn't see you there." She looked down to the floor to avoid my gaze.
"Do not be frightened Dahlia, I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to ask you something." I crossed my arms and she slowly looked up to meet my amber eyes.
She nodded, "Of course."
"What's down there?" I nudged my head towards the now closed entrance. Her eyes widened and she looked to be too scared to answer my question. I sighed in annoyance, well it looks like I'm going to try this out for the first time, "Tell me what is down there." I waved my hand in front of her face.
"Lord Vader's prisoners." She responded in a monotone that would remind anyone of a brainless zombie.
I waved my hand again, "How many and who are they?"
"Three and I'm sorry I don't know their names, but I think one used to be a Jedi." She responded again and my eyes widened with only one person in mind.
Anakin Skywalker.
(Initially when I wrote this chapter years ago, I received a lot of "my god she's fucking dumb" "I hate this bitch, she has no brains" comments and I'll be honest it seriously irritated me. 🙈 So be mindful, she's clueless to so many things surrounding Vader, he's not exactly an open book. So she's not dumb for jumping to this theory, just ignorant which isn't her fault. I take my y/n's very seriously lol I'm protective I'm sorry.)
Maybe that's why he's been so reluctant to tell me and why he forbid me from going down there. He's here, it has to be him, "Thanks Dahlia, now go away." I shooed her and she rushed away quickly. I stood there for a moment as I gazed upon the door; my heart was pounding and my hands were sweating. I was going to be disobeying one of his rules again, after I swore to him that I wouldn't. But if Anakin really is down there, I have to see him.
I looked around me to see if anyone was looking, and lucky for me no one was around. I used the force to open the door and I stepped inside; I walked slowly down the steps.
I reached the bottom floor and began making my decent further into the hallway than I have ever gone. He had only taken me into one of the first few doors in here when I got curious and he for once fed my curiosity. So I've never actually gone as deep as I'm going now.
The cells changed from the rough metal doors that led into cemented rooms, into glass-like structures so I can actually see into the cells; without actually being in them. I stopped on the second one to my left when I saw someone inside, they had their back to me and they were sitting on the floor; hugging their knees.
Was this him? I couldn't even tell what gender this individual was. I tapped on the glass to get their attention, "Go away." He responded in a deep tone. So it was a man.
"Hello?" I spoke and their head popped up quickly.
They spun around and got to their feet as they eyed me curiously, "Who are you?" He asked as he leaned his hands on the glass that separated us, "Are you the apprentice that I've been hearing so much about?"
I nodded slowly as I took in his appearance, he looked like a complete mess. His hair was sort of long and scruffy, he had a beard that was grown long and untamed, and he had visible scars, cuts and bruises on every surface that I could see, "Yes, I'm Anya." I responded.
He chuckled humorlessly, "How pretty, did he name you?" He asked with a hint of malice in his tone when he mentioned my Master.
"He did," I whispered, still amazed that this might be the person I've been searching for, "Are you, Anakin Skywalker?"
He let out a laugh so loud it pierced my ears and made them ring, "Are you serious, he hasn't told you?" He looked incredibly amused which only furthered my confusion. He saw my confusion, "You're actually serious, my god, you poor ignorant little fool."
"What are you talking about? Told me what?" I questioned. I was confused, but also disappointed this wasn't him. Though there are two other prisoners here I can question once I'm done with this one.
He tapped on the glass with his fingers as he still held an amused grin, "Oh no honey, I'm not Anakin Skywalker. My name is Obi-Wan which I'm sure that's not a name that you've heard before am I right?"
I shook my head again, it's not a name I've heard from him before, but I think I heard it from Shmi once. I'm not really sure, it was so long ago, "No, but.. do you know where he is?"
He nodded, "Yes I do, and I'll tell you exactly where Anakin is." My eyes widened but he held up a finger to me, "But only if you take your mask off. I want to see the girl that warmed the cold dead heart of Darth Vader."
Although I didn't appreciate the way he was talking about Vader, I couldn't exactly blame him for the hate, seeing as he's been the subject of torture for god knows how long. I let out a deep sigh as I contemplated his request, "If I take this off, you'll tell me where he is?"
"I promise you, I will." He smirked and I couldn't help but get the feeling that there was a deeper meaning behind it.
I sighed once more, it's not like this man will ever see the light of day again. So it shouldn't be an issue, "Alright." I gripped my mask and took it off, it felt strange being in someones company without this thing on; well at least someone that isn't Vader or Rex.
He eyed my face in fascination, "Well, I can certainly see what all the fuss is about. You are strikingly beautiful, although those amber eyes of yours diminish it." He pushed himself off of the glass and walked toward what I can only assume is his bed.
"There, I did as you asked," I placed the mask back on for my own comfort, "Tell me what I want to know."
"Well aren't you in for a treat," He laid back and used his hands as his pillow, "You see Anya, Anakin has been under your nose this entire time."
I furrowed my brows, "I don't understand."
He chuckled once more before responding, "Do you think Vader is his real name or something?" He scoffed with an eye roll and my stomach dropped when I was starting to get what he was hinting at, "Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker."
For a moment, I was breathless. That can't be true. He wouldn't keep something this big from me. He wouldn't.
Right?
I shook my head as I backed away from the glass; not wanting to believe the words that escaped from his lips, "You're lying, he wouldn't keep something like that from me."
His laughter echoed along the walls of his cell as he sat back up, "Now what do I gain from lying Lady Anya?" He stood up once more; his laughing expression faltered into one of hatred as he strutted back over to me, "Look where the fuck I am right now," He spoke with malice while he placed both of his palms on the glass and leaned his face closer; his breath creating an uneven circle of fog on the divider, "So please tell me right now, why would I be lying to you? How the fuck does that benefit me in anyway?"
I watched his wild eyes as hatred and anger flashed quickly through them, he looked like a mad man. But I guess that's what happens when you've been locked up like an animal for as long as he has; however long that may be.
He also had a point, there was no reason for him to lie. I'm just in denial of the fact that Vader would keep something like this from me, I didn't even know what to think right now; I just know that I felt so hurt by it. But it also makes sense now why he killed Watto and why he knows so much; like where Shmi's grave was, how he knew that Shmi was killed by the sand people, how he knew it was Anakin who killed the sand people, I could go on and on.
Looking back now, it was all right in-front of me, how did I not see it?
"Awfully quiet there, I see you know I'm telling the truth," He leaned closer and placed his forehead against the glass, "Come a little closer Anya, there's something I've been wanting to tell you since I learned of your existence." His voice came out sweeter than how he was originally talking, and I could tell it was an act. But my curiosity was getting the best of me; so I stepped closer, our eyes stayed locked onto each other's intently. His blue ones were filled with loathing, "Take off that damn mask so I can see your face when I tell you this." He snarled as he slammed one of his palms down and I jumped back with a gasp from the loud impact.
I took a heavy breathe to calm my startled heart and I reached forward to pull it off, "How long have you been here and why are you here?" I couldn't help but ask.
"A year, maybe more and because I was stupid enough to think he was still human, but he's not and he sure as hell ripped my humanity away from me as well." He never once blinked as he spoke; almost like he refused for our eye contact to break, "I said get closer." He demanded sternly through gritted teeth and I stepped closer; to the point where my own forehead was almost touching the glass as well, "There was a time where I used to love the man that you love; not in the same way obviously," He chuckled before he continued, "But then he became what he is and now I hate him more than anyone will ever understand. I want to watch him break, I want him to wish he was dead just as I wish I was every single day. But for the longest time, I never knew how I was going to do that," He tapped the glass with his finger to match every syllable, "I didn't want to kill him because death is too kind, or at least that's what he tells me," He chuckled darkly, "But then something amazing happened and now I do know how I'm going to destroy his will to live. Do you wish to know how I'm going to do that Anya?" He asked in that same sweet tone as he tilted his head slightly.
"How?" I asked nervously; I was so deep into this conversation, almost like I was in a trance.
He chuckled once more as his eyes glanced down my body and up to meet mine once more, "It's funny, I used to be his greatest friend, now I'm going to be his worst enemy," He placed his finger on the glass in front of my face and scratched it gently; like it was his way of caressing me, "It's nothing personal honey; you just happened to have been loved by the wrong man," He shrugged. Love? Vader doesn't love me.
"Vader doesn't love me, you're mistaken." I looked down at the floor for a brief second as I felt a small pinch in my chest.
"You're ignorant, not stupid," He brought my attention back up to him, "So when it comes down to it and it will come down to it; you will die and it will be by my hand." He told me with a devious smile on his face, "That is how I'm going to break him."
I snorted as I backed away from him, "And how do you plan to do that from inside of this little cell you have?" I smirked and his eyes darkened with a deep hatred.
"I'm going to get out of here, just you wait." He threatened through gritted teeth.
My chest tightened, almost like my own body was believing his threat. Then my mind was cut off by the sound of an alarm. I groaned, "Fuck." He's home. He was barely gone for an hour.
Obi-Wan smiled, "You should go before he finds you down here. I'm sure he wouldn't like you talking to me," He chuckled as he waltzed back to his bed. Yes, waltzed, he fucking danced with the ghost of someone not there. He's mad, absolutely mad, "I'll be seeing you again Lady Anya."
I took a deep breathe as I rushed out of here before Anakin started to come looking for me.
