Day Two (Morning)

Sara Higgins's P.O.V. (D5)

I open my eyes. I look around for Cally.

"Cally, where are you?"

Her head pokes around a tree, "Over here."

I sigh in relief, "Thank goodness."

"So, what's our plan for today?" she asks, walking back over to me with a handful of blackberries.

"Umm finding a good hiding place sounds good to me," I suggest.

Cally shrugs, "Maybe we should do some hunting too. We only got one pack and it doesn't have any food in it."

I smile, "I have a better idea. Besides, it'll be more fun."

Cally's eyes widen, "What?"

"How about we go to the cornucopia for some more supplies? We can wait until the Careers are gone."

Cally looks down at the ground for a second, "Ok."

"Let's go."

Clarice Amberton's P.O.V. (D1)

"I think it's about time you start to do things around here, Autumn! You haven't even made one kill yet, and now we're down a player on our team. So you're gonna need to start being useful!" Jean yells at Autumn.

I roll my eyes, "Whatever, Jean. Just leave her be."

Jean laughs, "Ok, mom!"

I glare at her, "I'm going hunting. You're free to join if you want."

"Sounds great," Jean says with a grumpy attitude, "But she's staying here!" She pointed at Autumn.

"Is that ok with you, Autumn? Can you handle watching the cornucopia while we're gone?" I ask.

"It better be ok with her, or I'll snap her arms in two! Oh, and if anyone takes anything, you're toast, Autumn."
Jean says.

Autumn nods quickly. Then she nervously picks up her throwing knives.

I turn and walk away with Jean and Iona.

"She's useless. I'm surprised she's made it this far," Jean complains, "I do not understand how a volunteer could be so bad at doing things."

Jean is way over reacting. Autumn hasn't been half as bad as she's making it out to be. Just because she got a lower score than the rest of the Careers and didn't kill anyone yet, doesn't mean she's useless.

"Let's just kill these last four people," I say, "so we can get out of here."

"Whatever," she pouts.

Cally Blue's P.O.V. (D5)

Sara and I crouch behind a bush as we watch Jean, Iona and Clarice walk through the grassy field, towards the forest. Probably another 'hunt'.

I turn to look at the cornucopia. Autumn stands there, alone.

"Do you think we can take her?" I whisper to Sara.

"Definitely," she replies, "Let's go. And try to do this quick."

I nod and stand up. Sara and I sprint to the cornucopia without a sound.

I accidentally dropped my dagger when we reached the cornucopia though. I held my breath, hoping Autumn didn't hear.

"Who's there?"

I glance at Sara. She mouths the word 'now', before running around the side of the cornucopia and slamming into Autumn.

Someone screamed and I ran around to where the two girls were.

"Cally, help me out," Sara says through clenched teeth as she holds Autumn to the ground.

I rush over to them just in time to see Autumn kick Sara off her.

Sara fell on the ground and coughed. She must've got the air knocked out of her.

I leap over to Autumn and grab her shoulder, slamming her against the golden horn.

She let's out a scream as I do it again and again.

Suddenly she grabs my hair and pulls it back, causing me to release her.

A moment later, her grip loosens and I fall on the grass. When I look back up at her, blood is dripping from her mouth and her eyes are wide open. A knife sticks in her chest.

BOOM!

I look around to find Sara holding a stack of throwing knives. She drops them in disgust.

"Let's get some packs and weapons," she says finally.

Sage Salereno's P.O.V. (D8)

Our alliance, after walking all morning, finally took a break. We are working our way up the mountain at the moment. I saw some tributes climbing up there yesterday and we're hoping to get to the top before they do.

"Sage, can you pass me the water?" Delinia asks, "I'm out."

She tilted her bottle upside down.

I took mine out of my pack and handed it to her, "Hopefully we'll find a spring to refill."

I look over at Brenda, "You want any, Brenda?"

She shakes her head, "I have some."

"Ok."

She has certainly been quiet a lot. I hope she isn't hiding an injury or anything. She looks alright to me. Maybe she's just being quiet so she can listen for unwanted footsteps.

"Well, let's keep moving. We don't wanna be the last three people who have to die," I say, helping Brenda up.

When we're all ready to go, we start climbing the cliff. We are already halfway to the top, since we've been climbing since yesterday evening.

"Brenda, have you heard anything yet?" I ask quietly, just in case someone is close.

She raises a finger to her lips, "I can hear them, two of them. They're over there, about one hundred yards away," she whispered.

I nod and so does Delinia. We continue climbing quietly until we reach the ledge. Then there is another cliff we need to scale. We start climbing that one too, being as careful as possible not to move any rocks.

Finally, I put my hand on the ledge and start to pull myself up, with a grunt.

I look around. Nobody seems to be there, but there is a suspicious pile of boulders to my left, big enough for someone to hide behind.

I tell myself to check it out once everyone is safely on the ledge.

I pull Delinia up, then I tell her to help Brenda as I walk over to the rocks.

I tighten my grip on my spear as I get closer. I can almost feel that someone is behind there.

"Sage, stop!" Brenda suddenly shouts, "Someone's behind there!"

I turn away from the rocks to look at Brenda, but before I can turn back, someone slams into me, knocking me off my feet.

"Kaya, no!" shouts the voice of Grace.

Kaya climbs onto my stomach and pulls out her dagger. She aims for my neck and try's to stab it with her dagger, but my hands stop it.

I wasn't just going to allow a thirteen year old girl to kill me.

Suddenly, before I can do anything, Kaya is pulled off of me, "Kaya, I said stop!"

"Why?! I thought we wanted to win this!"

I sat in the ground, blinking at the two girls arguing in front of me.

Grace sighs, "I do, we do. But I was going to ask these girls to be our allies, not kill them."

Kaya blinks, "Oh, sorry."

Grace turns to us, "So, will you be our allies for the rest of this? A bigger alliance is the bigger chance of staying alive."

I look at my allies. Delinia nods slowly, and Brenda takes a moment, then she nods too.

I stand up and walk over to them, "I guess we're in!"
