Chapter 6- She Is Pretty

"Do you know each other?" Martha asked the obvious as she looked at Maru and Jenny.

"Yes! He is my ex-husband!" Jenny immediately answered in her mind.

But before Jenny can actually say anything, Maru already answers, "Ah, yes!"

Jenny glanced at Maru. When she heard him acknowledge her, Jenny immediately shifted her gaze to Martha and exclaimed, "Ah, yes! We had worked together!"

Maru's lips slightly curved upward to hear Jenny didn't deny him.

Jenny saw the smile on Maru's face. "Maybe he was just smiling for a show?" she thought.

Martha put her hands together. "I see! Well, it's nice to know that you two already know each other. It means we could skip the introduction," she said.

Then, she looked at them, "Now, please follow me!"

And she guided them to another frosted-glass-door room. The two followed her without hesitation.

Martha turned on the lights in the room, revealing a small conference room.

A dark wooden table — that could chair at least 12 people — is in the center of the room. The white wall with very minimal decoration makes the room bigger and brighter. A custom chandelier hanging on the ceiling gives it an expensive feel. And an enormous window in front of the table — that also turned into a projector screen — also brought in more light.

"This is our meeting room. Please have a seat!" Martha tells Maru and Jenny.

Maru and Jenny obey and sit on the opposite side of each other.

"Please, excuse me, first, I'm just going to inform Ms. Lee that the both of you are here already," Martha says after the two sit.

"Ms. Lee? Aren't you the one who's going to interview us?" Jenny asked, and her brows knitted together.

"I am afraid not, Ms. Han. But it's better to hear the details from Ms. Lee. She is our CEO," Martha politely relayed with a smile.

Hearing Martha call Jenny Ms. Han again was the least of her concerns.

"The CEO will be interviewing us personally?!? It must be something huge!" Jenny thought but didn't ask anymore.

"Now, will you both please excuse me!" Martha said and left Jenny and Maru in the room.

Jenny suddenly tensed up at the thought of the CEO. The silence between her and Maru doesn't help, either.

Unlike Jenny, Maru is also nervous, but he appears more composed. When he and Jenny are still working together, they never talk directly to the CEO.

Jenny gathers all the courage inside her and tries to start a conversation. After all, she and Maru couldn't always avoid each other — especially — because they were in the same line of work.

She sighed as she looked at Maru to congratulate him. "Congratulations on your engagement."

Maru looked calm as he replied, "Ah... Thank... You..." but inside of him, he was in disbelief that Jenny talked to him first, though he would not show that to Jenny. So he asked her instead, "But how did you know?"

Jenny looks at him with a smile. "I read it in a magazine earlier. By the way, Eunice has become prettier!"

Maru simpered but didn't comment.

Seeing him like that makes Jenny think he is probably proud that his fiancee is a celebrity.

Maru pretended to cough and murmured, "You are still prettier!"

But Jenny didn't catch what he said. "What was that?" she asked.

Maru didn't repeat what he said, though. But he shifted the topic to her. "Nothing! How about you? Are you dating anybody?"

Jenny was about to say no when the door opened.

Martha appears and holds the door open for someone. An expensive-looking woman then entered the meeting room. As she entered, the light embraced her so beautifully that she appeared to glow like a goddess. But instead of being cordial and gentle, her demeanor was that of a CEO—intimidating and authoritative.

Jenny and Maru immediately stand up.

Martha assisted her in the captain's chair, where Martha introduced her to Jenny and Maru, "Ms. Han. Mr. Kang, this is Ms. Vivian Lee, the CEO of The Auberge."

Jenny and Maru alternately shook her hand.

"Please sit!" Vivian says in a soft but authoritative tone.

Jenny and Maru do what she says while Martha bows to Vivian and leaves.

Jenny couldn't hide being mesmerized by Vivian's beauty. She looked radiantly beautiful.

In fact, calling someone like Vivian beautiful is an understatement; she is far more captivating than any actress.

The shade of her matte red lipstick—that not everyone can pull off — compliments her milky white skin very well. Her makeup is subtle, yet it brings out her features. Her long, shiny, dark brown hair is styled similarly to Martha's—that, now, Jenny realizes Martha must've copied it from Vivian.

Jenny told herself that she must've put on some makeup so she didn't look too plain next to Vivian.

Vivian immediately looks at Jenny and slightly smiles. Then, she says her name as if she knows Jenny very well, "Jenny!... I mean, Ms. Han,"
