Chapter 6 Return
Kendra's POV:
I, Kendra, was bored.
I felt as if it were only a manner of time before I lost my house too.
I did not exactly tell my sister the truth. The truth is I lost my job.
Yep, I am jinxed.
Jinxed beyond repair.
I packed a few things into a knapsack and others into a small suitcase.
I tied a jacket around my waist and put a few food items into the small bag on my shoulder. It was not much but was better than nothing.
I shoved a sleeping bag into its case. There, I thought I am ready.
Well, ready as I can be anyway.
I left the house and locked the door.
I hid my key under the mat.
I journeyed back to the forbidden property with my bags and suitcase.
Once, there I tossed the bags over the gate.
I climbed over with only the suitcase in my left hand.
This time I landed with a less rough landing than the last time.
Yes, my return was not as bad as I expected.
I picked up my other items and carried them with me.
I hid them behind the rock pile.
I could risk anyone seeing them.
I sighed.
Now what?
It was not as if I thought out my plan that thoroughly.
I hoped no one would want me to return to school.
Who would welcome a rebellious spirit like me into the classroom?
No one ever wanted me.
I never felt more worthless than I did now.
I saw him as he arrived at the place.
I watched him take out his dog, grateful the hideous demon had not seen me.
I breathed a sigh of relief that I was unscathed for the time being.
I waited until the dark came.
I removed my sleeping bag from its hiding place and climbed into it.
Good night, I thought.
I laid down to sleep with thoughts of better times deeply hidden within my memories.
