Lukanette Mother's Day Special part 2

     Luka's POV:
Luka sat in the restaurant across from his wife. He could tell she felt bad about something, however, he was not sure what it was since she yet to tell him. He just smiled over at her in the hopes she would let him know when she felt comfortable enough to share it with him.

     Marinette's POV:
Marinette saw him look her way and felt even more ashamed she forgot the reality of the matter.  She knew it must be something important for them to spend it alone without the kids. The trouble was she still could not say why it was for that matter.

"Marinette, dear, why do not you go ahead and order something?" Luka asks her in the hopes to keep her mind off whatever it is that makes her look so glume.

    "Yes, sure, dear," Marinette answers.

"Well, what will it be Madame?" The waitress asks her.

"I will take the chicken salad sandwich on wheat bread, a side of apple sauce, a side of macaroni and cheese, and a glass of milk," Marinette says.

The waitress jots it down on her notepad, then turns to Luka.

Luka tells her, "I will have the bacon burger on the rye bun, with ketchup, mayonnaise, and pickles, the side of fries, and a small slice of apple pie, and a glass of iced water."

The waitress nods her head in approval as she adds his order to the notepad, then walks off without another word to either of them.

"So, mind telling me what it is that Ailes you?"Luka asks.

"Huh, what was that honey?" Marinette asks.

  Luka's POV:
"It is just that something must be wrong for you to forget our special day," Luka replies. He can not help but feel like somehow it is his fault.

   Luka's Flashback

Luka smiles over at his fiance and is glad to see she is happy to see him as well.

"So, Marinette, what kind of flowers you want at the wedding?" Luka asks.

"Flowers, oh, I had not thought of those to be honest," Marinette replies. She looks a bit down for someone who is about to be married.

"Hmm, you know if you do not want to get married it is okay to change your mind,"  Luka says. He tries his best to assure her that even though he loves her he does not want her to feel pressured or anything.

"It is fine, it is just that well, my previous fiance died on Mother's Day, then my mother a few weeks later, and ever since that day has been so hard on me," Marinette explains.

"Oh, dear, I am sorry, you know we could change the date," Luka offers.

"It is alright, I am just sad that my mother can not be around for the wedding that is all," Marinette tells him.

"We could just cancel the church, and get eloped," Luka remarks.

"Are you serious?  You would do that for me?" Marinette asks with a smile.

"Sure, if it means that much to you," Luka responds.

"In that case, I agree, we get eloped,"  Marinette says.

Luka remembers how they stayed engaged for a long time.  Then, a few months later, they got eloped just as he promised.  He hoped this would ease the pain of her great loss somehow, yet despite all odds, she still looked sad the day they got married.  He did not know if had done something wrong or not.

A few years later, she had given birth to John two days before Mother's Day, and a year later to Olivette, a week before Easter.   Luka could tell Marinette was happy to be a mother, she even said as much.

"Luka, you know, Mother's Day is not so bad anymore, because it is our anniversary, and our son, John's birthday, so now it is the best day,"  Marinette states.

Luka held onto the hope that she would be okay after all.  Though somehow he wondered deep down if she ever would be, but did not say so because he did not want to make her feel bad.

   End of Flashback...

Luka saw Marinette frown, and begin to wish he had kept his mouth shut.  It was just like him to speak without thinking much about it.  Now, he could help, but wonder if she regrets marrying him, and being the mother of their children.  He did not say as much because the thought itself was horrid enough.

"Luka, I know it is John's birthday, and I feel bad we are not celebrating it with him,"  Marinette spoke up.

Luka notices she does not say anything about it being their anniversary or Mother's day.  He smiles at her, then says, "I will tell you what after dinner, we go over to your father and stepmother's place, and pick him up.  We can  take him out to see that Angry Birds 2 movie he has been waiting to see and get him some snacks."

"I think that is a splendid idea, " Marinette says with a grin as if she wishes she had thought of it herself.

The food arrives, they thank the waitress, she smiles, and says, "Enjoy, you two," then she walks away again.

Marinette remains quiet as Luka says the blessing, then opens her eyes. She eats in silence and begins to wonder why she let him take her out to dinner on their son's birthday.  She decides she might as well try to enjoy herself though since he went so much trouble.

Luka enjoys his meal and smiles over at his wife. He gets a to-go box for the pie. He pays for the supper, then true to his word leaves with her to go pick up John.  He hears his wife breathe a sigh of relief as they arrive at the in-law's house a few minutes later.

    Tom and Agnes POV:
" Luka and Marinette, what brings you back so soon?" Tom asks when he sees who it is at the door.

"Yes, we would have not have minded if he spent the night," Anges states.

"I want to spend time with John on his birthday," Marinette explains.

"Oh, yes, that is today, so I gave him dinner, hope you do not mind," Agnes replies.

"Ah, yes that is fine, we were going to take him to the movies," Luka explains.

"The movies, hurrah!" John says with excitement.

"Could I come too?"  Olivette wants to know.

"Sure, if you want to see Angry Birds 2," Marinette answers.

"Yes, thanks, mom and dad," John says.

"A bird movie, Okay, sounds like fun," Olivette says.

Luka, Marinette, John, and Olivette leave for the movies.

Meanwhile, Tom and Agnes wonder why Luka did not say how the anniversary dinner went.  The two hope this does not mean Luka and Marinette are having marriage problems.

"I suppose, we should let them work it out," Tom remarks.

"I agree even as hard as it is on me," Agnes says with a sigh.

     John's POV:
It is my birthday and I get to see a movie that I have been waiting to see for like forever.  He is so happy to get to spend time with his parents, and sister. He smiles as his father pays for the tickets, and the snacks.  He goes by the bathroom, makes sure to wash his hands good, and comes out all set for the movie.

"I can hardly wait to see it," John says.

    "Me too," Olivette agrees.

"Good, because I think it will be fun," Marinette says. She smiles.

"This is going to be the best birthday ever," John says.

"I think it is the best family time too,"  Luka replies.

John thinks it strange his mom says nothing more about the day. He thinks could she have forgotten about it or something?

*Author's note: Why is it the others seem to remember more than Marinette does right now?
