Okay I've like done variations of this concept before y'all will def recognize it but it's my favorite thing literally ever so we're just gonna have to cope or whatever 💅

Summary:
When Shota Aizawa falls asleep, he always finds himself in a world struck by tragedy. With over a third of the world's population wiped out, Japan is overgrown and in shambles almost thirty years after what the survivors call the "great clash". It is a dark future, one Shota has visited every time he closes his eyes for years.

It's in these dreams that he meets the love his life. It's a little sad, falling for someone who isn't real, but he takes his joy where he can get it— and who knows. Maybe it's not as fake as he thinks.

Notes:

-Let me preface this all but saying that Valentina eventually time travels to Shota's time period ☝️☝️

-Valentina, or Val, is literally Aizawa's polar opposite. She's cheerful and optimistic despite the world she's been born into, with bright pink eyes and hair to match. She doesn't seem like the type Shota would fall in love with, but he does anyway

-He's like tied to her it's a soulmate thing (because I said so)

-Yes her design ((in my brain compartment)) is based off Valentine's day I don't CARE you can't STOP ME

-He doesn't think it's real. That doesn't stop him from falling in love, though, or from trying to find out what the great clash was and what caused the downfall of society

-Because in case it is real, Valentina insists he knows the signs. So that he can prevent it or whatever idk they hunt for clues and gather the stories of people who remember and/or descended from people who remember

-Ft. Shota and Valentina being wandering vagabonds

-Shota explaining modern technology bc Valentina never got to experience since she was born post world falling apart

-A few members from 1-A? In the future??? All beat down and struggling to survive in a destitute future??? With no hope???!?!

-INTERMISSION I am now waiting for my brother to get out of the store instead. Apparently he wants Jello cups-- idk I don't make the rules and idk what's happening. Also Raven on the off chance you're reading this I really hope you didn't actually eat ten grilled cheese girlie pop bc that's so concerning?

-Ft. Izuku Midoriya being a legendary hero people still talk about around... uh, trash can fires or whatever they have going on

-It's full wasteland man. Decrepit, falling apart buildings. No government, no structure. Just vague factions of people, some good, some bad. Valentina rolls solo with her pet possum that is low-key Shota's mortal enemy. Not bc it's particularly mean or anything, it's just-- Shota's petty

-Shota's wasteland experience bleeding into his day to day life. How does he know that plant is poisonous? Why is he picking up random leaves on the way to work and making tea out of them in the teacher's lounge? Should he know how to make a fire out of a couple of sticks? Why does he know how to make a water purifier out of literal trash?

-Hizashi and Nemuri side-eyeing him when he comes into work all peppy bc he got to see his lady love ooo la la

-Idk what Valentina's quirk is I'll come up with that later

-When Shota Aizawa falls in love he falls IN LOVE alright

-Like he's so dedicated. Keeps up with anniversaries and other dates. Memorizes her favorite things. Bro's a simp and he doesn't care either he's diggy w/ it

-Valentina does sorta have a house. It's more of an abandoned building she's tried to fix up. It has running water thanks to well water, and Shota eventually helps her track down and rig up solar panels. The first movie they watch together is the Fox and the Hound and she thinks it's the best thing literally ever she loves it

-TVs fascinate her so much and phones are a totally foreign concept. But she does have a radio— some survivors broadcast over some stations

-Valentina specializes in cartography— as in, she's a pro at making and using maps, can track her location based on the stars, has a great sense of direction and can retrace her steps practically anywhere, etc.

-This means she's a lot more willing to venture away from home for long periods of time because she knows she's capable of finding her way back.

-Shota always appears next to Valentina. Even if she's moved since the last time they were together, he'll always wake up at her side. She's grown used to it by now and isn't fazed at all

-Might give her a healing quirk yo

-it would be kinda cool if after the USJ, Aizawa fell asleep injured and woke up healed or smth bc she was able to heal him

-Hear me out: A healing quirk based on how much love and/or care she can muster up for the person. For example, she has a soft spot for kids so she can heal children better than she could an adult. Is able to heal Shota better because she's in love with him as opposed to a stranger

-The love and care thing would tie into her nameee 👀

-Valentina is fascinated with old buildings. Always asking Shota what they were, asking him to go there when he's awake to see so he can come back and tell her, etc

-when she finally travels to his time she's so amazed by the buildings and people and cars and gushes over everything

-It all fascinates her. The government, hero society, politics, the economy. She's never seen it before and only knows it from left over books and whatever stories she's been told over the years and by Shota. But to see it first hand?

-She has a total sweet tooth. Has never had a cupcake before in her life but after she does the first time? She's a goner dude. Sucks at baking though, so Shota has to learn. Again, total simp. He's whipping out full cakes

-Hizashi and Nemuri are in shock and he's just like "she said she wanted to try strawberry shortcake 🗿🧍👨‍🍳"

-Valentina says jump Shota asks how high

-When he finds out she's real he fr just cries he's so happy

-lowkey she doesn't know how to live in what she's always called "The Before". She's never had to live in a structured society before so you can't really blame her ish?

-Damn might rename this "What Comes After" what do we think

-Her quirk could also be a soulmate quirk. Not soulmate per se, but maybe she sees the different strings that tie people to one another. And maybe that's why Shota comes to her when he sleeps— maybe they're tied

-Idk which do y'all prefer if anyone read this far

-Not sure how she ends up in modern times uhhh I'll make something up. Maybe one day Shota wakes up and pulls her with him or something? Or Hatsume can build a time machine. She'd be,,, 45-50ish in the future I think

-Okay imagine they find future Kirishima and he's all beat down and then when Aizawa wakes back up in his present he like hugs him

-Hizashi and Nemuri asking who tf this is and he's like "my wife 🗿"

-they're like "where did she come from" and he's like "I've known her five years" or smth idk how long it's been

-Valentina being Izuku's no. 1 fan and he's just confused as hell dawg

-Ft. Valentina and Shota saving the future obviously

-I want her to Lowkey know one of the villains and recognize them or something. Like Dabi or someone like that how cool would that be

-Sheeee is amazing with guns bc you know. Wasteland. Self defense. Her favorite weapon is a metal pipe and she will murder people with it in cold blood if she has to dawg she comes from a lawless badland

-kinda want her to have a cowgirl hat or smth

-maybe Aizawa likes them country girls purr

-No bc boot cut jeans, flannel, cowgirl hat, dusty boots, can curb stomp you, WILL curb stomp you, will eat anything, can fall asleep anywhere, isn't squeamish, is good at like everything ever

-I feel like she can do a little bit of everything. First aid, engineering, blacksmithing, whatever— she can do it. Survival skills

-he thinks she's not real bc how could he ever be that lucky

-What if Aizawa was in the future. Like— a future him that's like 60 years old how trippy would that be
