What's the worst that could happen

Hello! I'm alive! Barely! I got sick while on vacation and life has not been for the past week or so!! I'm still sick! My body is in a lot pain because I am a female! But it has been so long since I've updated! And you all deserve an update!

Hopefully you haven't abandoned this book because of the waiting, but you probably all have! And that makes me sad, but I deserve it because I'm a horrible person!!

Yay!

Kanna blinks, and looks at us. "When did you get back?"

"A few minutes ago..." Mason blinks

"Was it fun? Did you guys find who you were looking for?" Dogost smiles and sits with us

"Yeah.." Mason slowly nods. "We found her."

"So...? What was this 'mysterious woman' like?" Kanna laughs and sits on the couch

We all take a moment to glance at eachother

"She's was.. really weird." Kiki states

- - - - - - - - - - -

We all decided it was best to for us to forget the 'time traveling incident' and live on with our lives as normal

At the moment, we're doing some shopping, Nami wants to do something tonight involving cooking, so we're all going food shopping... at the plaza.. When it's almost a hundred degrees outside... instead of spending our Saturday at home.. relaxing..... Why did I agree to this again..?

"Because spending time with friends is fun?" Mason looks at me

"Was I narrating out loud again?" I blink.

"Yes." Kiki looks back at me, annoyed. "And what do you mean everyone agreed?! You forgot about me!!" She glares. "I didn't agree!"

"Maybe she just didn't want to include you or your idiotic opinion." Thresh snickers.

"It's not idiotic!" Kiki glares. "We go on this whole big mystery adventure, and meet a TIME TRAVELER,who offers to do literally ANYTHING we ask, with no strings attached, AND NONE OF YOU WILL EVEN CONSIDER IT?!"

"We don't know if there were no strings attached." Mason states

"But she seemed like a nice enough lady!" Kiki groans

"You literally said she was weird yesterday." Mason looks at Kiki

"Weird can be good!" Kiki exclaims. "I think Kat's cat-ears are weird! But that doesn't mean I hate them!"

I glare at the back of Kiki's head, but she doesn't care

"It's still way too dangerous to accept." Thresh states

"Oh come onnn!" Kiki groans. "How is it dangerous?!"

"Hmmm... Let me think.." Thresh pauses for a moment. "Oh! Yeah! We know nothing about this women, her powers are neither natural nor anything remotely safe! Accepting her "HELP" would alter our lives forever with unforeseeable consequences that would, in the end, demolish our chances of ever having a happy or normal life!"

"Good point.." Kiki pauses. "Buuuuut what if it doesn't do that? You're just being paranoid, right Firo?" She looks over at the half-dragon.

"Listen, Kiki-" Firo starts.

"Oh come on, not you too..." Kiki whines.

"I would totally be on board with this, but I honestly think Thresh is right... That woman seemed nice, but her powers are dangerous.." Firo continues

Mason nods in agreement, "And too be honest, we've had enough 'dangerous' to last a lifetime... I could use a break from the daily crazy."

Kiki sighs in annoyance.

"Time travel can have no positive outcome, besides, aren't our lives are crazy enough already?" Mason looks at Kiki

"Not at all." Kiki states

"For once, I'd just like to have normal day, where nothing crazy happens." Thresh sighs.

"You know what that sound like?" Kiki asks

"What?" Thresh raises an eyebrow

"Like a phrase with the same type of irony that comes with the phrase 'what's the worst that could happen.'" Kiki states. "But something worse always happens when people say that."

"Maybe in things like movies or cartoons or books.. But this isn't the same as that" Thresh rolls his eyes

"Well, you're not wrong.. Technically this is an online work of fiction." Kiki states

"But isn't this technically an online book?" I add

"Oh yeah.. you're right!" Kiki nods, then looks back at Thresh. "See? Weird things are gonna start happening because you said that." Kiki states.

"Keep your fourth wall break out of my logic.... Besides, that's not how life works." Thresh states

"But it could beeeee." Kiki laughs

Thresh sighs and rubs the bridge of his nose but doesn't try to argue anymore

Kiki grins. "I dare you to say it."

"Say what?" Thresh raises an eyebrow

"Say what's the worst that could happen." Kiki grins

"Why would I do that..? What is achieved by me saying that...?" Thresh looks confused

"Well if you're so confident about the whole 'irony doesn't actually exist and that's nor how life really works' thing... Then you shouldn't have a problem with saying that." Kiki states

"That's ridiculous." Thresh rolls his eyes.

"Prove  it." Kiki crosses her arms.

"If I do this, will you drop it and stop being so annoying?" Thresh raises an eyebrow

"Only if you're right." Kiki crosses her arms

"Fine.. What's the worst that could happen? Happy now?" Thresh asks

"Nah.. I expected something to happen, now I'm just kinda disappointed."  Kiki blinks

"Well, nothing happened, so I'm right." Thresh states

"Yeah I guess." Kiki shrugs.

"I mean irony is still a thing." Firo states. "But I guess potentially ironic phrases don't just magically trigger irony, that just doesn't happen. If anything bad were to happen now, it would just be coincidence."

A large rock-like hand about the size of Firo's torso suddenly picks her up by the back of her shirt, and lifts her to his eye level. He definitely isn't human, just a hefty supernaturally-large stone guy with no pupils and yellow eyes.. He seems normal enough, wearing average earthy-colored clothing... But he also seems..? Familiar..? Like in a rampaging across a marketplace in order to chase us down sort of way...?

The store clerk. From the Plaza.

"OH!" Firo laughs nervously. "It's you! What a crazy coincidence!"

"I hope you're here to return what you stole." He glares

"Yeah! Absolutely, no problem! Just put me down and I'll get it from my friend's bag." Firo tries not to sound nervous.

He raises an eyebrow. "Do you really think I'm that stupid?"

"Absolutely." Mason states, and Thresh elbows him.

"No." Mason corrects himself

"Come onnn, would I lie again?" Firo smiles innocently

"Yes, you would." He glares

Firo laughs nervously. "Maybe.. But do you really want to be attracting this crowd?" Firo points around at the group of spectators that had slowly gathered.

He sighs in annoyance and sets her down and Firo walks over to Mason

"Firo, that thing has been lost for months and I don't have any fake ones." Mason whispers

"Well do you have anything I can just throw at him?" Firo whispers back as she opens Mason's satchel, which he mainly uses to carry his laptop and a few papers from school. She pulls out a small computer mouse.

"Good enough." Mason whispers and shrugs

"Alright, when I throw it.. Run." Firo whispers

We all nod in understanding

"Alright, here it is!" Firo throws the computer mouse slightly above the boulder's head and we all quickly run in the opposite direction and into an ally, and quickly walk through the small ally.

"Geez.. What are the chances of that happening..?" Firo blinks

"It's the phrase!" Kiki grins

"Or, he's working.." Mason states as we hear angry shouting from behind us. "This is the exact same plaza, it's not super unlikely that he's working again."

"How did we lose him the first time..?" Thresh blinks

"We didn't.." Mason states. "He kinda just..  vanished the first time.."

"That's weird.." Kiki nods.

"Shh!" Firo looks behind us.

We all look in time to see the obviously-angry store clerk walk past the ally way with a crushed computer mouse in his hand

"Oh yeah, sorry about that.. I'll buy you a new one." Firo states

"Nah, don't worry about it.. I'm just glad you were able to find something decently believable to thrown." Mason laughs a bit.

Firo laughs and nods. "Alright, I think we should slip into a store for a while to avoid being caught by him as he's looking around this area of the plaza."

"Right." Mason nods and looks around, pointing to a random area of the plaza, a narrow street filled with fruit stands. If you were to walk past it, there's a good chance you would miss it's existence entirely.

We all quickly funnel into the low-populated area.

"Alright.. So what's still left on the list of stuff?" Firo looks over at Mason

"We need garlic.. lime.. eggs.. onions.. and cilantro.." Mason removes Kanna's list from his pocket

"Sounds kinda fancy.." Firo blinks

Mason shrugs. "Maybe."

"You think we should pick up some fruit for Dogost while we're here?" Firo blinks

"Sure." Kiki nods.

"Let's go then." Firo smiles

"Oh hey, look who's here." A voice speaks from behind us.

We all turn to face the voice, it's Evi.

"Oh hey! What a coincidence!" Kiki grins and looks at Thresh

"Hey Evi.. Is Sonya with you..?" Firo blinks

"Of course!" Sonya smiles and peeks out from behind Evi's head. Evi is carrying the child in a piggy-back ride. Evi is also carrying four large paper bags that are hanging from her toned muscular arms.

"What're you doing here?" Evi blinks

"Shopping for food." Mason explains.

"What are you doing here..?" Thresh blinks

"Food shopping, obviously.. We're in a market place." Evi states

"And look what I got!" Sonya smiles and rummages around in a small paper bag she's carrying, and removes a black wolf stuffed-animal.

"You bought her a stuffed-animal?" Firo blinks

Sonya briefly releases her hold on Evi's neck and hugs the stuffed wolf toy.

Firo grins. "You always pretend like you're this bada** crazy demon woman, but in reality you're just a big softy."

Sonya blinks and peeks over Evi's shoulder. "You're wrong there." She smiles. "Evi is super tough and can be kinda harsh sometimes.. I've seen her fight, and she is a that word.." Sonya doesn't curse, and happily hugs Evi's head. "And she's a big softy."

"By day she packs small lunches for an adorable child, and by night she literally murders people... Interesting combination.." Mason laughs

"Okay, enough about me." Evi looks annoyed. "How did that wish go?" She asks.

"Wish?" Mason blinks in confusion

"You're joking... The time wish, obviously." Evi blinks

"Oh.. You mean the favor we got from the weird lady?" Thresh asks

"Yes." Evi states

"We never used it." Mason blinks

"... Seriously?" Evi blinks. "Oh.. I bet that's gonna annoy her."

"Annoy?" Mason blinks

Evi nods. "Kabori doesn't like having debts.. It makes her uneasy and impatient."

"Miss stoic get's impatient?"

"Kabori is kind of a workaholic.. She likes to stay productive and get as much work done as possible.. Now she has one hing on her to-do list that could stay on there for weeks.. She'll eventually get impatient after a few months." Evi nods

"Oh, so we don't need to worry yet?" Thresh blinks

"Probably not." Evi shrugs.

"While all you guys were talking, I got the ingredients we need, now let's go already." I walk over to them

"You left?! But you're supposed to be the narrator- the readers just missed so much useless filler conversation!" Kiki blinks

"I can hear you guys from like a mile away, and I have eyes.. I can take occasional glances."

"You can hear us from that far?! How?" Kiki blinks in surprise.

I raise an eyebrow, and point to my ears

"Ooooooh.. I didn't know your hearing was that good." Kiki blinks in surprise

"It's not.. I exaggerated.. But still, I didn't have to go that far." I shrug. "Now let's gooooo! It's so hot outside!!"

- - - - - -

We're walking home. And it's taking way too long.

"Kat." Firo glares back at me

Anywayyyy.. Evi decided to come back with us after she returned her groceries to their house... She decided that, entirely because Sonya wanted to go. Apparently she really likes our apartment, and weirdly enough she wants to be better friends with us. This tiny child is way too nice.

It's so weird that talking to Evi is the new normal.

Oh no she's glaring at me

Shutting up now.

Firo removes her keys from her pockets and unlocks the door.

We all walk inside and enter the main room after walking through Firo's paint and poster-filled bedroom

"Hey Kanna! We're--!" Firo yells as we walk inside the room and suddenly freezes. "Baaaaaaaaccck..."

Kanna, Nami, and Kabori are sitting on the couch with bowls of Pad Thai in their hands

Dogost is laying in Nami's lap in his ghost-dog form, peacefully sleeping

"Oh hello." Kabori is calm as she looks at our shocked or surprised faces
