Chapter 7) Not so Truthful Truth

Danny woke up to a soft sunlight. The light was soothing and he did not want to get out of bed. Nothing hurt, but being in bed just felt nice. He couldn't remember the last time he had a peaceful wake up. Always the dread of going to the factory or going to school were facing him when he rises from bed, but not this time. It was unbelievable, unrealistic to Danny. Until the memories of yesterday caught up with him. The terrifying near death experience still caused him to shake, but seeing his friends... Well that was pass a nice surprise. Just being with them made the whole accident better. Finally he decided to get out of bed.

Danny slowly got dressed into trousers and and a shirt. He was in no rush to answer his family's questions. Danny just wanted breakfast and silence. Maybe if he can take his time, everyone will be gone by the time Danny gets down stairs.

He was wrong. His parents and his big sister were downstairs eating breakfast. It was completely quiet, no one made a move to ask Danny a question or most importantly, get him breakfast.

Danny sat down at the kitchen table. The table was medium sized, not meant for more than six people to sit at.

Finally after minutes of silence, Jasmine spoke up. "Do you want pancakes?" Danny nodded vigorously.

She held the pancakes just out of his reach. "To get the pancakes, you have to tell me what happened last night."

"What do you mean?" Danny tried to ask as obvious as he could.

"You know what I mean." She stubbornly answered.

"Sweetheart, can you please tell us? From your own words." His mother begged.

"I want to hear your story too, Danny-boy!" He father exclaimed.

Danny sighed. What could he tell them? That he got beaten up by his boss's son? That he got taken to a old friend's house to heal? That he woken up with white hair? But now he has black hair? No. He had to tell them something else. Not the truth, but not a lie.

"Umm... I- I was helping out.... Cleaning the.... Uh factory. I feel asleep in the ectoplasm and then woke up in my bed. I just thought it was a bad dream. I guess." Danny stammered.

"You're lucky Danny-boy." Mr. Fenton announced.

                "Why?" Questioned Jasmine.

"That explosion sent ectoplasm everywhere. Hundreds of people were effected. As in dead, but they didn't stay dead. Media is calling them 'ghosts'. These ghosts have strange powers. Most have walking through walls, invisibility and ectoplasmic rays." Jack Fenton explained.

Danny's mother gave him a hug. "I'm so glad that the ectoplasm didn't effect you!" She cried.

Danny felt guilty. Maybe he should tell them. "Well, dad...."

"Maddie there is a good thing about these ghosts. They have ectoplasm!" Jack Fenton shouted.

"You are right. I can not wait to tear the ghosts molecule by molecule to their ectoplasm. Imagine how much they must have!" Madeline Fenton agreed with her husband. "Oh, sorry. What were you saying Danny?"

Danny started to panic a little bit. He did not want to become a science experiment or what was left of an experiment. "I was just about to ask why being effected by ectoplasm was bad, but you answered my question." Danny not so smoothly answered.

Jasmine gave her parents a look. "There are no such thing as ghosts. Where did you even hear this information from anyway? An old fisherman?"

Jack Fenton gave a over dramatic sigh. "That's not the point Jazzy Pants. I know it's true, I saw one."

"Yeah right."

"Seriously. He was blue and he was flying. He controlled boxes and made them fly at us. Maddie we need to make weapons to fight them. "Jack Fenton explained.

"Maybe we shouldn't make weapons. You know fight peacefully. Or not fight at all?" Danny tried to convince his parents.

"Sweetheart, these things are dangerous. We need to protect people from them." Madeline Fenton tried to explain.

"But who would protect them?" Danny countered.

"They don't need protection son." Jack told Danny. Danny nodded, but still didn't believe his parents.

"Can you guys stop acting like these things are real?" Jasmine bursted out. She sighed. "I'm going up to my room to study."

"Princess come back! School is over! There's no need for studying!" Jack Fenton called after his daughter.

"What do you mean school is over?" Danny asked.

"I thought you knew, school ended yesterday. " Madeline told her son.

"I have to go." Danny said as he was walking out the door.

"Just be careful, sweet heart." Madeline Fenton called out to Danny as the door slammed shut.

Danny ran to Tuckers Dad's shop. Danny remembered that Tuck always helped with the shop during the summer. He just hoped that this summer will be the same.

As Danny was running, he realized it was much too hot to run. He was sweating and he only ran for a minute. Then he realized something else. He could fly. Or float. Whatever. Anything was better then this heat.

Danny focused on the feeling that he had when he was a ghost. That alien feeling. One he can't describe. Maybe freedom? No, that makes it sound too good. Fear? No, it makes the feeling sound really bad. It was somewhere in between.

When he opened his eyes, Danny looked down. He was floating! Yes! Danny focused on his target. Getting to Tucker.

Flying was surprisingly easy. In fact, Danny loved it. The way the wind blew through his hair and the freedom. He loved the freedom. No one could catch him or boss him around now.

He got to the shop in less than give minutes when it would usually take him twenty minutes.

Danny looked through the window of the shop. It was filled of mechanical parts. The shop was a clock fixing shop and anything else that went tick tock fixing shop. The place always creeped Danny out, but it was always Tucker favorite place. To Danny's luck, Tucker was inside, but also was Mr. Foley.

Danny flew to the alleyway. He focused on being human. The joy and the pain. He thought about family and friends. When he opened his eyes, he was human again.

Danny walked into the shop. "Um.. Excuse me, Mr. Foley? Is it okay if Tucker and I um...."

Mr. Foley interrupted Danny. "Daniel, I haven't seen you in a while. Of course you and Tucker and can spend the day together! It's supposed to be a slow day today. Where have you been?"

"Thank you, Mr. Foley. I have been working at the ectoplasm factory. Since it exploded yesterday, I have some time on my hands. " Danny told Mr. Foley.

"Oh yeah, I forgot it exploded. Well, whenever Tucker and you want to spend the day together then do it. Summer doesn't last forever, you know. " Mr. Foley said to Danny.

"Have a good day!" Danny called as he walked away with T. Foley.

When the door shut, Tucker finally questioned Danny. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm going to practice. Let's go get Sam. " Danny responded.

             T. Foley was not so happy with that answer, but it was the only one he was getting.
