A Favor (Luke Request)

Ugh... What happened?

You awoke, finding yourself surrounded by smoking metal, sparks flying from fried circuits, as if something overheated. You continued to look around the room, finding yourself on the floor. Slowly, you groggily tried to stand up, then quickly got yanked back down as you realized your leg had been broken. You yelped, landing back onto the metal floor, the pain from your leg being unbearable. Suddenly you felt your head start to throb, which wasn't your biggest problem. You squinted your eyes, bringing your hands up to your temples, trying to rub them to ease the pain.

As you continued to examine the room, you remembered you were on board a cargo ship, taking a delivery to the Rebel Base on Hoth, when suddenly an Imperial Cruiser decided to attack your ship, and leave you to die.

Thankfully, you and a droid were the only ones on this mission so nobody else had gotten hurt. You looked around the ship, trying to see where you currently were, and apparently you were in the middle of nowhere, just empty space.

You groaned, turning around, grabbing onto the pilots seat and lifting yourself up with your arms, bringing yourself into the seat. You sat down, looking at the dashboard to see if anything still worked. You tried checking everything, pulling switches and pushing buttons, but everything was fried. You sighed, burying your face into your hands, knowing you were going to die out here, in cold and empty space. Sooner or later the oxygen would die out, and you would be left there for dead.

No, you were smarter than this. You would always find help. You looked around at the dashboard, trying to find anything helpful. To your left, you spotted a holoprojector. You grabbed it, recording a message of yourself.

"Echo Base! This is (Y/N), and I am in need of help. My cargo ship got blasted, and I'm floating in the middle of nowhere! I need your assistance, please," you ended the message, and sent it to the Rebel Base, hoping you would find some sort of help, or somebody would come help you.

"Excuse me, Princess Leia!"

Leia turned around, seeing General Rieekan standing before her.

"Yes, General?" she asked, concerned, as she held a datapad in her hand, containing the information for outgoing cargo to planets in need.

"We have an incoming distress signal," he said, his voice gruff and firm.

She nodded. "I'll get Luke and Han. I'll meet you in the communications room as soon as possible, " she affirmed, nodding her head to General Rieekan. He nodded back, walking off towards the communications room.

She hurried towards the break room where she knew they were, probably lounging around. She shoved past guards and pilots, trying to hurry as fast as possible, as she did not want to leave General Rieekan waiting.

Quickly she made it to the break room, pushing the button to the door, revealing lots of pilots in their orange gear, and many others soldiers in their warm uniforms to keep them from freezing. She scanned the room looking for Han and Luke, then she saw them, sitting at a table playing Dejarik.

She held on to her data pad, entering the room, and walking straight over to them. She felt many eyes on her as she entered the room, continuing to make her way over to them. When she reached their table, she plopped her data pad in the middle of the table, interuppting their game.

"Aw come on Leia!" groaned Luke, looking up at her, laying back in defeat as the holographic image disappeared.

"I was just about to win!" Han groaned, staring at her disbelief.

"Oh whatever you two. Get off your butts, you could be doing something better with your time, " she sasses, leaning on to the table, glancing at both of them. "Look, I'm going to need the two of you to come with me. We got a distress call from one of our own, and I need you to go check it out," she instructs, eyeing the both of them, her stern look kind of scaring them.

Luke nodded, then looked at Han, then back to Leia. "Alright, let's get going. "

Eventually they made it to the communications room, meeting General Rieekan there. They all nodded to one another, greeting each other. The General moved up to the projector, pressing a button, revealing  (Y/N)'s face, playing her distress signal.

"Echo Base! This is (Y/N), and I am in need of help. My cargo ship got blasted, and I'm floating in the middle of nowhere! I need your assistance, please. "

The recording ended, the blue hologram disappearing.

Luke stood in shock, as he saw your position. You looked beat up and bruised. He knew he had to do something, as he remembered one day you saved his life, and now it was his turn to return the favor.

"We have to go out there, " Luke stated, determined to find you. Ever since Luke joined the rebellion, you had taken him and and shown him, Han and Chewie the ropes, while Leia always took command of her operation. You guys were best friends,  and he couldn't stand to see the shape you were in. Even so, Luke hid his feelings from you, as he was unsure about how you felt about him. Ever since he saw you, he had an instant crush on you.

"Now hold on, " Han stopped Luke's thoughts, crossing his arms. "How do we even know where she is? She never sent us her coordinates. Yet even better, there could be Imperial cruisers waiting there for us to destroy us like they did (Y/N)'s ship."

Leia nodded, agreeing with Han. "Yes, you're right. It could be a trap for all we know. "

Luke was not going to have it. He shook his head, placing his hands on his hips. "Well that's a chance we're going to have to take. There is no way we are leaving her out there. She saved my life once, and I want to return the favor by saving her's," Luke informed them, his facial expression turning soft as he remembered your face on the hologram. "Besides, we could always track her signal. It shouldn't be that hard. "

Han nodded, still unsure about the mission. "Alright kid, we'll go save (Y/N), but if you get us into trouble with the Imperial fleet, then you're getting us out, " he insisted, pointing a finger at Luke.

Luke's face lit up, thanking Han for agreeing to go on the mission. "Alright! Let's go get Chewie and R2-D2, and I'll meet you in the Falcon. "
••••••

Eventually, they came out of hyperspace, appearing at the location of your heavily dismantled ship, cargo and metal parts were floating away in space.

"There she is... " Han said, kind of sadly. "Can't believe it was that heavily damaged, and it didn't explode. She sure is lucky. "

Luke nodded, crouching near Han and Chewie as they sat in the piloting seats. He examined the damage, trying to see how bad you really got it. "I can't believe she's even alive," he muttered. "Alright, can you dock?" he asked, wondering if the docking station had been compromised.

"Yes, I can. Thankfully it wasn't destroyed, " he confirmed, bringing the falcon around and docking on to her ship. "You go kid. I'll wait here with Chewie just in case I see Imperial cruisers show up. "

Luke nods, patting Han's shoulder and leaving the Falcon.
••••••

He walks his way over to your ship, pushing the button to open the door. It made an error sound, as if it couldn't open. Luke groaned, pulling out his lightsaber and igniting it, the blue blade ringing with its familiar sound. Luke then stabbed the lightsaber into the door, cutting his way through, and creating an opening for himself so he could step inside.

He pressed the button on his lightsaber again, the blade hiding from sight. He looked around the ship, seeing that it was totally out of shape, he pursed his lips together.

He made his way around to the bridge, avoiding falling objects and sparks that could hit him. Finally he arrived at his destination, seeing you passed out in the pilot's seat.

Quickly he ran over to your aid, kneeling down beside you. "(Y/N)! (Y/N)!" he yelled, shaking you, hoping that it wasn't too late. "Wake up!"

Tiredly, you groaned, your eyes slowly blinking open. "Hey Luke, " you coughed, looking into his blue eyes.

He smiled, engulfing you into a hug. "Thank goodness you're alive," he muttered into your hair, then pulled away from the hug. "I was worried sick. "

"Aw, don't worry about me Luke. You know I always make it out alive somehow, " you chuckle, your hand slowly reaching up to his hair, playing with it. You could feel the air getting thinner as time passed by.

Luke smiled at you, enjoying the fact that you were safe, until he heard his comlink beeping.

He pushed the button, answering his call. "Yes, Han?"

"Hate to break up the happy reunion, but I'm afraid two Imperial light cruisers just exited hyperspace, " he mutters into the comlink. "You two better get on board quick. "

Luke quickly looks out of the windshield in front of you both, seeing that in fact, there were two Imperial light cruisers appearing in front the ships.

"Come on (Y/N), we better make it quick, " he says, getting up ready to bolt.

"Wait, " you said kind of breathless, as you felt your body weakening. "Luke, my leg... It's broken. "

He sighs, going back over to you, and picking you up out of the seat. "You'll thank me later, " he mutters, quickly trying to exit the ship, dodging falling objects, as the ship was still falling apart.

"Luke!" Han calls over the comlink. "They're sending TIEs... You better hurry up!"

Luke groans in frustration, as he finally boards the Falcon. He runs all the way to the sitting area, laying you down on the couch. "Rest here, and don't move. I'll go tell Han. "

You nodded, sucking on your teeth, as you felt a sharp pain in your leg. Luke's eyes adverted to your pain, but left the room to go to Han.
••••••

You opened your eyes groggily, finding yourself in the medical bay in Echo Base, laying on a medical table, but instead of having a headache, you felt refreshed.

"Hey, she's awake, " Han chuckled, leaning on a wall next to your bed.

You looked around the room to see who else was there, but it was just the gang: Han, Luke, Chewie and Leia.

"Hey guys, " you said yawning, your eyes blinking as you adjusted to the bright light.

"Hey (Y/N), how are you feeling?" Leia asked in her soothing voice.

"Much better, thank you, " you nodded to her, a smile growing on her lips.

Luke smiled at you, as he was closest to your bed, while Leia and Han stood over next to the wall, and Chewie sat in a chair at the foot of your bed. Luke grabbed your hand and held it, his eyes lighting up just by knowing that you were okay.

"By the way, the medical droid said your leg should be healed in about a week, so I guess no missions until then, " he chuckled.

You rolled your eyes. "Wonderful, " you said sarcastically.

Chewie growled, letting everyone know how he felt.

"You're right, at least it's not longer, I agree, " you muttered, agreeing with the wookie. You smiled at everyone, but particularly Luke. "Hey, if I could have a moment with Luke, alone, would that be okay? I haven't really thanked him for saving my life yet, " you chuckle, hoping that no one really minded.

Leia nodded, patting your shoulder before leaving. "Of course, " she agreed, smiling at you before exiting.

When everyone left you sat up, along with Luke stealing a stool and sitting down next to you.

"Hey, thanks Luke for saving my life. For a moment I thought I was really going to die out there, " you chuckle, staring into Luke's eyes.

"Hey it's not a problem. Any time. I mean, you saved my life once, so I thought I could just return the favor, " he verified, looking back into your eyes.

You blushed, looking down at the ground for a moment, then back up at him. "Seriously Luke... I... I appreciate it. " You smile at him, squeezing his hands for reassurance.

He nods simply in response which led to silence. It wasn't a bad awkward silence, but a good silence. Slowly and without realizing, you both were inching in closer and closer to one another, then stopping when you were only a few centimeters apart.

Luke's left hand went up to the side of your face, caressing your cheek. You grinned at him, but suddenly stopped as his face moved in closer, until his lips met yours for the first time, and it felt amazing. You could swear there were fireworks going off somewhere.

Eventually you both pulled away, and he smiled at you.

"So, I guess we're a thing now?"

You laughed. "Yes Luke. We are a thing now."
