Get Off- Kirk
You grunted as you were tossed into your cell. Wiping blood off your mouth, you turned angrily to the creature locking you up. You banged on the cell door.
"You can't keep me in here forever! You flea ridden cockroach!"
The sullen voice of your cell neighbor gave you pause. "Quiet down (Y/n), they'll just beat you more later."
You huffed, turning around to slide down the door, rapping your arms around your thin frame. "If it means you won't get beaten then so be it." You brushed your hair back, wincing as you felt a bump forming on the back of your head. "I'm almost hoping I won't make it to the next beating." You laugh humorlessly, shaking your head slightly.
You hear a shuffle next to you, a small pale face coming into the sliver of light that hit the adjoined cell wall. "Don't say that. If anyone will get out alive it will be you."
You shake your head as you reach into a hidden hole in the wall next to you where you saved up the small amount of food you are given. Sliding over, wincing at the new bruises you were finding, you hand your small friend some of the food. "That's nice of you to say, but I don't like the idea of leaving the rest of you here. How is the little one?"
You met the young fifteen year old girl, Salia, when she and an older lady were put in your neighboring cell about a year ago. Luckily they haven't been here as long as you have. Only just recently did their human caretaker get taken away, never to be seen again. So Salia takes care of herself and a young four year old boy, Marci. They are the sole reason you have fought to stay alive and take as many of the beatings as you could.
The young girl turned, leaving you alone for a moment as she checked on her cell mate. Her pale, freckled face reappeared. "He's fine. They gave him some extra food today, while you were gone. But we saved it, like you said to do."
You nodded, closing your eyes as you rolled onto your side to relive some of your pain. "Has his fever gone down?"
She nodded. "A bit, but I still don't like the sound of his cough."
As if on cue, you heard the little boy cough and you agreed with Salia. "Well, maybe his illness will get you a bit more food for a while." You smiled weakly doing your best to think positively, for the girl's sake.
She nodded. "Hopefully. Did you happen to learn where we are?"
You closed your eyes, thinking back to the screens you could see as they dragged you through the ship. None of the stars out the windows looked familiar but there was one thing that gave you hope.
"I saw a nebula that I recognized but the stars aren't the same. So I can only think we are on the other side of that nebula." What you didn't tell her was that the ship was excruciatingly close to a Federation space port.
"That's good, I suppose. Means we aren't too far from where they took you." You smiled at the small amount of hope you heard in the girl's voice.
"Maybe." You winced again, shifting on the hard, cold cell floor. You reached out, taking hold of Salia's hand through one of the bars. "Hopefully you won't be here for much longer." You smiled weakly at her as you tried to warm her cold, frail hands.
After a few moments of silence, the two of you were jolted form your revery by the sound of someone coming followed by the whole ship suddenly lurching. You let go of Salia's hand and gestured for her to be quiet as you stood with difficulty. You watched as the cell keeper rushed up to you, grasping you through the bars, pulling you to him as you held back vomit from his putrid smell.
"You. What have you done?!"
The ship rocked again.
You hardened your gaze, daring him to accuse you further. But before he could utter another word, sparks started to fly from the walls around you. A section of the ceiling falling on the cell keeper, successfully crushing him, damaging your cell door. You stumbled back, taking in the new situation.
What is going on? Is the mothership under attack? Have the other prisoners on the ship broken free?
"Go on! The door is broken!"
Salia's voice brought you to reality. Sure enough, your door swung on broken hinges, the creaking echoing along with the sound of fighting up above. You shimmied past the door and ransacked the cell keeper's body for keys but found none. You came up to Salia and Marci's cell, looking between them to make sure they were alright.
"I will be right back. I need to see what is going on and find a way to get you out of here." You reach over and take Salia's hand. "Trust me. I won't leave you."
"I believe you, now go!"
You smiled at her strength. The ship shook and you took off, stepping over debris and dead captors. You never learned their species name, just that they looked and smelled like mud and bugs. You made it through winding halls and rooms, hiding from large passing groups of the bug men and watching as small groups of people in colored clothing ran after them. You rushed in what you hoped was the direction of the ship armory. Something about their clothes seemed familiar but you didn't have long to think about it before you ran into the back of a man, causing you to grunt as they then fell on top of you.
"Well, look here Bones, I was right, they do have women on board." The surprisingly attractive man smiled at you but you snarled at him, not fully trusting his shining smile.
"Get off me." You protested as you shoved him off with all your might.
"Whoa now. That's new, usually the ladies ask quite the opposite." The yellow clad blond reached his hand down for you to take but you just glared at it, helping yourself up.
Another man, this one brunette and wearing blue, stepped up and looked at his smiling friend, giving him a frown that matched yours. "Does she look like she's one of them Jim?" He sounded as irritated as you.
Before the blond could answer you spoke up. "No im not. I am, was, one of their prisoners. I take it it was your ship who has boarded us?"
The blond smiled wide, bowing smugly. "James T. Kirk, Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, at your service." He then smacked his friend's arm lightly. "This here is Doctor McCoy, or Bones."
Enterprise? That sounds oddly familiar.
You nodded to the doctor. "Pleasure." You turned back to Captain Kirk, the two kids still on your mind. "Now if you could please excuse me, I am in need elsewhere and it's urgent." You didn't give them a second thought as you rushed passed them.
But before you could get far, you felt a hand grasp your wrist and pull you into a room. Suddenly you were flattened against a wall with a body hovering over you.
"What the-" You were silenced by a hand over your mouth.
"Shhh, they're almost gone."
You rolled your eyes as you recognized who it was. You shook your head to get his hand off your mouth seeing as how your hands were pinned by his. "Get. Off."
Kirk smirked, gently releasing your hands. "Pardon me, princess, just thought you'd appreciate not getting caught by them, again."
You glared at him as you checked the hallway, surprised to see a group of bug men receding down the hall. "What do you want, me to bow?"
"I can think of other things."
You scoffed as you rolled your eyes, checking the hallway again. "Thanks but no thanks. I can take care of myself."
This time it was Kirk's turn to scoff. "Clearly."
Before you could retort back, a sudden beeping from the captain caused you to jump slightly. The Captain gave you a look as he reached for what you assumed was a communication device. He flips it open and before he could say anything a loud Scottish voice blared out.
"I'm sorry to cut your mission short Captain but it looks like their main reactor is heating up to dangerous levels, sir."
"You told us we had enough time to get what we came for and with time to spare."
"Yeah well that spare time is now all you have left. It looks like they had a fail safe on the reactor to go off if they were under attack."
"Well, that's not very nice."
You shrugged as you thought to yourself the exact words that came over the small device.
"Smugglers aren't known to play nice, sir."
You notice Kirk give you a side glance, his eyes no longer sporting the pompous air he was gloating just moments before.
"Got it. We will head back now. Be sure to let everyone else know."
"You got it sir. Scotty out."
Kirk let out a blow of air as he put away his communicator. Now he feels sheepish about the way he was treating you. You weren't one of them, you were their cargo.
You looked down the hall again and was about to dart out but Kirk held you back with an arm around your waist. With just one look from you he pulled his arms back, raising them in surrender.
"Look, I don't know if you understood what my chief engineer just said but-"
"I know what he said. I'm not dumb. I was once part of the Federation myself."
"Really?"
You rolled your eyes as you saw him smile a little at that. "Yes. Now as much as I want to chit chat, I have some friends to help."
The ship shook again but this time it set off alarms. A sinking feeling in your gut hit you as you raced off in the direction you came. You ignored the shouts of the blond captain behind you. The only thing that mattered was getting Salia and Marci.
The ship jostled back and forth, making it hard for you to run quickly. Debris fell and sparks flew. Random people ran past you, some being bug men but they obviously didn't care about any freed prisoners. The alarms stop sounding so all you could hear was the crunching of the hull and the screams of frightened survivors. You made it to the stairwell down to the cells you knew all too well. You started your way down but almost lost your footing with another lurch of the ship. But you didn't fall.
"Hold on, I got you."
Your cheeks suddenly heated at the closeness of Kirk and the feel of his breath on your neck. You would have turned around and yelled at him but he saved you, again.
"Please help me find these two kids. They were locked up next to me. I need to make sure they get out alright." You practically begged him, a stranger, as you leaned back into him a bit as you felt your stamina slowly diminish.
"I'll make sure all three of you get out of here." He helped you walk down the rest of the steps, the ship shaking again causing the two of you to cling to each other.
You wiped hair out of your face as your eyes targeted their cell. But you let out a cry as you saw their cell empty, the door swinging off it's hinges. Tears fell down your face as you scanned the area, wishing to call out their names but you were too weak.
Part two......???
