Me: I'm so sorry if I took longer to update this one shot. I was having problems thinking of a plot for these Zodiac signs. This story may not be the best out there but I did my best. I'm going to admit, it's really hard to write a fanfiction or a story about a specific thing when you don't know enough background about it. It's nothing to compare to the fandoms we all know too well. I mean, this is Zodiac. It's not a fandom. But rather just...a Zodiac that we people take for our own entertainment. But anyway, it's still a challenge for me, and I love challenging myself sometimes! Besides, this is a new experience so I'll do my best at the next chapters okay? Me: ...that explains why, but anyway. Yes, yes you may. But later. I need to finish this. *at the readers* Please enjoy! This is shorter than the previous ones so read at your own risk I guess? ^^ That's all!

NOTE: Aquarius and Cancer were not really given that much attention like how the other Zodiacs in the previous chapters had been. Let's just say this story is mostly all about our stars: Gemini and Pisces.

"Hiya, Gem!" Pisces grinned as she took a seat beside Gemini who had stopped midway from the middle of his doodling at the back of his notebook. The atmosphere in the classroom was slightly dark due to the drizzle on the outside world, and the temperature had dropped a bit, only making the classroom more lulling and relaxing.

"Hey Pisces. Was there something you needed?" Gemini asked, leaning back on his chair to relax his muscles for staying uptight too long. Pisces shook her head, smiling.

"Nope. I just wanna know what you're up to."

Gemini just stared at her, his brow raised, wondering why she was suddenly interested in his life. There must be some reason right?

"Um... Why?" He frowns, a bit befuddled and offended. He didn't mean to sound it like that but he just can't help it. Sure, he was the trickiest in their class but he's not that mean to make him seem distrustful right?

"Oh, I'm so sorry. Did I offend you?" Pisces asked, a bit panicky.

"A bit.." Gemini muttered, looking down at his notebook which contains the page he had been doodling.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it that way." Pisces purses her lips, debating herself if she should continue interacting with him. After a short pause, she said, "Um... I was just worried. I want to make sure you're okay."

Gemini blinked at this, trying to make sure he heard her right. Looking up at her face, he frowned more.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think I understand your motives?"

Pisces could only grin, stands up and said, "It's not a motive Gem. I am sincerely worried for you. I had to make sure you're okay." Her eyes then softened, "After all the things you've done for me, I want to return the favor."

Return the favor? Gemini was so confused at this. For all he knows, he and Pisces don't speak to each other often, only a few hellos and hi on here and there but not frequently. And he couldn't ever recall doing something courteous and considerate to her so what was she saying? Until... Gemini stiffened at this, his eyes widened.

She can't mean...

"Anyway, I have to go. Please be safe okay?" Gemini didn't say anything, just only watched her as she went back to her own seat where Cancer and Aquarius sat. He could see Cancer look away from the water bearer, hurt flashing her eyes when Aquarius said something, his face blank. But he didn't care about that at the moment. His only focus is Pisces who only comforted Cancer as she speaks to Aquarius, a small frown forming her lips.

'She can't mean that, can she?'

When Gemini went home to his quiet abode, dropping his bag at the process upon closing the door. His parents are out of town at the moment so he's left with himself to fend. He tiredly walked upstairs, not bothering to turn on the lights of the dark room as he plopped himself to his bed, groaning. He was pretty beat after the endless discussions of his annoying teachers and the piling of his school works. It was quite annoying, but that doesn't matter anymore. He is in his room now and he is definitely not planning to make his assignments soon.

Still in his position, his hand shoot out under the bed where his laptop is hidden. Pulling it from under, he heaved and placed it down beside him before lifting up his head. Opening up the lid, he turned it on and waited for it to start as he pondered over what Pisces had said to him a while ago. He was too curious on what she meant, and with this he decided to log in his account in this popular game called, "Everlasting." After his laptop started, he begins to log in his account to get answers.

Gemini had been the certified gamer when he was young and was until up to now. Gaming had been a part of his life, and he uses it to escape from the reality he is facing. He is not an escapist; he only wants to take a break from this so-called universe.

He was greeted by a lot of notifications and messages from his online friends, and he checked and read all of them. Upon drifting next to the last message, his form went rigid.

Alice.

This is Pisces username, and he met her online before they even met in real life.

Yes, Gemini knew Pisces before he met her in real life. They met as online friends in this game for 1 year, and had been great friends. He only learned who she was in real life when she transferred in their school, introducing herself and finally admitting her username in Everlasting. It was actually amusing and cute that she has the guts to say that, but can he blame her? Everyone knows the game.

Their friendship blossomed when she made him notice her. She proved to everyone that she is nothing to trifle with and won a lot of battles, even from the gamers who are really good on the game. He was quite impressed at the things she did in the battles every time he spectates. There's this feature in the game called spectate wherein you're not going to play but rather just watch the other gamers around the world play. He never really meant to message her one time, but he accidentally did when he was supposed to pick a random profile to mess with.

He only realized it too late when he read the profile that he had just sent a message to. Just as he was about to delete it, Pisces had replied back politely, asking why he just suddenly popped out of the blue. Of course Gemini has no choice but to entertain her; and so soon, he found himself liking to talk to her. And before the universe knew, a new relationship begins to form.

Pisces is really a secretive person and would not reveal herself that much in online. He had only learned a bit about her a few weeks ago when she admitted that she's been feeling depressed lately which is why she's been playing a lot these days. Gemini, in turn, would comfort her and give encouraging words as he is a friend of hers, but he did not expect her to know that he's the one who had been making her better for weeks a while ago in the classroom. He tried so hard for 1 year to hide his identity on the game from his friends and classmates since most of them are playing it as well. But what went wrong?

Well, he was determined to know that. And thus, he clicked on the new message that Pisces had sent him just around 11 minutes ago.

Alice: Hello BeoWulf. :))

BeoWulf: Hey. ^^ How are you?

In an instant, she quickly replied back.

Alice: I'm doing great!

BeoWulf: That's good news. :)

Alice: Yup!

Okay, maybe he was just overreacting. Gemini could feel himself relaxing. Pisces hasn't suspected anything about him. That's good. A soft ting arrived indicating that Pisces had sent him a new message.

Alice: Um... Actually, there's this guy in my class who seemed depressed lately..

Or maybe not.

Gemini gulped and typed out an answer.

BeoWulf: Maybe he's just having problems?

He paused for a while, then added more words in the chat box.

BeoWulf: Maybe he's just having problems? And how can you tell that he's depressed?

Then send. Gemini was curious as to why she was implying him depressed. He doesn't look like that, does he? Sure he was quiet these days and all but that doesn't mean he's depressed.

He waited for her reply as he glanced at his window. Small pellets of rain glistened on the smooth surface of his window. The heavens had cried harder for more than an hour now, and he's sure it won't stop anytime soon. Another ting tuned from his speakers and averted his gaze at his window to read her message.

Alice: It's just a guess. But I think he is one. I mean, he was more quiet than usual. He's the typical guy in my class that makes crude jokes to lighten up the mood. But he's doing none any of those things. It's making me worried.

BeoWulf: Have you two even talked to each other before? Are you two close?

Gemini could hear his heartbeat pulsate louder as he waited for her reply. Her message came soon after quickly.

Alice: Um... We talk sometimes, but not that much. We are not that close either. I'm still worried though. What do you think should I do?

How kind. Gemini could feel his lips curl up in a sardonic smile.

BeoWulf: You're worried for someone who you don't even know? Who spends his life pranking and tricking people? I'm quite surprised that you still have the guts to do that.

Her response was quick.

Alice: I knew it. Gemini, this is you, isn't it?

A small smirk formed his lips as he typed out a response.

BeoWulf: I don't know what you mean?

Alice: My god... Gem! Stop messing around! I'm serious!

Gemini finally laughed, typing his answer.

BeoWulf: If only I knew that this would amuse me, I would've done this a long time ago.

Alice: Well, IT IS NOT AMUSING FOR ME. >:(

BeoWulf: Alright alright. This is Gemini speaking. So you knew?

It took Pisces a while to respond.

Alice: It's really obvious already. When you told me that you live somewhere near our school, and when you told me your likes and dislikes, I knew that something was eerily familiar so I had to take the matters alone.

Eerily? Gemini chuckled at this as he typed.

BeoWulf: So you made a background check-up on me? How wonderful.

Alice: I don't know if you're being sarcastic and all, but anyway, why didn't you tell everyone that you play Everlasting? I swear I was almost convinced by Capricorn that you don't play. I swear that guy...

Gemini grins.

BeoWulf: Careful, Cap is my friend.

Alice: Oh, right. Sorry. Even your friend doesn't know you play the game he's obsessed with.

BeoWulf: I don't want to talk about myself that much.

Alice: Same. Glad you and I are similar.

BeoWulf: Nice.

In all honesty, Gem doesn't know what to reply anymore so he just resolved in asking her another question that he's really wondering of.

BeoWulf: Anyway, you really are worried for me?

Jackpot. Gemini smirked when Pisces took a longer time to respond. After a short while, Pisces finally responded.

Alice: Of course. You're my friend Gem. :)

Gemini couldn't stop grinning when he typed out his last message before he logs out.

BeoWulf: Just friends? Pity, I've always considered you something more.

Turning off his laptop, he puts it aside and stood up.

He needs food.

Gemini doesn't know why but when he entered the hallways of hell (school), he was walking as if he owns the property. People are looking at him, confused as to why he was suddenly smirking out of the blue when these few weeks ago he was frowning. Well that's simple. He felt better after talking to Pisces yesterday. Just recalling the event made his smirk widen as he enters their classroom.

It didn't surprise him when there is only one person who was too early to arrive in school.

Pisces.

When his eyes met her blue ones, he waved with a friendly smile. He took satisfaction in seeing Pisces' wide eyes and rosy cheeks as she glanced away from the self-acclaimed gamer. He kept his friendly smile plastered on his face as he walked to his assigned seat. Once he sat down and lowered his bag under the table, his smile was quick to change into a smirk as he took out his notebook to doodle on.

"Gem?"

His smirk widened when he heard the shy voice of the so-called Alice of Everlasting. Funny isn't it? Shouldn't it be Alice in Wonderland?

Closing his notebook, he glanced up at the girl who was standing shyly beside his seat, a small pink tinted on her cheeks. Gemini smiled, patted the chair beside him where Sagittarius sat to invite her to take a seat beside him. Pisces really doesn't want to, but the smile the air sign is giving her is too much; and thus, she sat, twiddling her fingers in sheer timidity.

"Good morning Gem." Pisces smiled a bit, and almost flushed like a tomato when Gemini leaned in at her, smirking as he tucked a loose strand that was framing her face behind her ear.

"Are you still worried for me?"

"U-uh, yeah." She almost stammered. She cleared her throat, looked away flushing, before looking back at him again, now with a flustered expression. To Gemini's surprise, Pisces held the hand that had just tucked her hair and interlaced their fingers.

"I...don't consider you as my friend, BeoWulf." Pisces cheekily grinned at him and rested her head on his shoulders, "I... I like you so much. But I want it to transpire into more than just a like. I want to experience being in love with you, if you would let me be in your life."

His heart is beating abnormally fast, and he felt the strong urge to pull her in his arms when she confessed her feelings to him. This is the first time he had felt so many emotions in his entire life. Honestly, it terrifies and excites him a lot. What if their relationship crumbles into dust? What if it won't work out? What if he messes up a lot? More what ifs began to assemble in his mind like a torrential tornado. As if knowing what is going on in his mind, Pisces embraced him, like how a child hugs their mother. And just like that, all his thoughts had vanished away.

"Please... Give it a chance.."

Before he knew it, his arms suddenly act in impulse and embraced her back, whispering at her ear.

"Very well then Alice of Everlasting." He jested, smoothing out her long brown hair as the delicate-looking girl giggled on the crook of his neck. "I'll let you in."

"Thank you BeoWulf."

Ophiuchus: The difference between a short story and a one shot?

Me: I'm saying this now. A short story and a one shot are different. According to Google, short stories are stories that have a fully developed theme but are significantly shorter and less elaborate than a novel. I made my short stories a bit longer than intended, but they're still called a short story though. I just added some parts which made them longer.

Ophiuchus: A one shot, on the other hand, is also a short story, however, its only main concern is the characters that stars the whole story. That's why it's called a one shot. It's mainly about them while the other characters are not given that much attention like how the stars are. For example, the stars here in this story are Gemini and Pisces. Cancer and Aquarius are just the side characters.

Me: ...You spoke too soon because you made me speechless for a bit there. Anyway, that is the difference between a short story and a one shot. I hope this clears things a bit.
