Jaisholt - A Trip to the Empire City (Real World AU) {Part 1}
Written by the Summoner of Gerathon ;)
Reminder: This takes place in the real world, so they have devices and coffee shops and whatnot. That also means that everyone is modern and stuff. Also, in this, they are about 23-25, as they just finished college and are coming for a get-together!
Only difference is, instead of calling the world "Earth", they called it "Erdas".
Enjoy!
Raisha drummed her fingers absentmindedly on the café table, sparing a quick glance out the window to see if the other had arrived. The sleek walls of the windowed shop were silver and a rustic wood design, modern and elaborate at the same time. Several workers were busing themselves serving coffee, but it was overall very quiet. She was waiting for specific people to arrive here, those specific people being her closet friends.
When she had gone to high school, she had met a group of people who had shared her same interests into books, friends, and interests in general. They had all loved this book series called Life of a Wattpadder, and had all chosen characters from the books to mark as their favorites. But after senior year, they had all gone seperate ways to pursue their dreams, and after they had all graduates, they had decided to meet up here, where Shadow had a 'suprise' for them all. Suddenly, Raisha looked up as she heard the small bell chime as someone walked in the door, the someone being Shadow and Meilin.
Shadow was wearing a loose long-sleeved black shirt and a pair of black jeans rolled up just underneath the knees. Her long black hair was down to her back and her blue eyes were as sharp as ever. She was wearing a pair of comfortable looking dark brown sandals, and a gold necklace with a cat pendant hung from her heck. A single silver ring glistened from her finger, reflecting in the sunlight, and showing that Shadow was taken.
Meilin, on the other hand, was dressed in a fitting pale blue dress with navy blue highlights, which reached down to her knees. Her hair was pinned back in a tightly drawn bun, her brown eyes soft yet alert. A pair of thick-heeled pale pink high heels were placed on her feet, going her an extra two inches of height. A smooth silver ring shone from one of her fingers, along with a shiny bracelet from her left arm. Her nails were long and manicured, unlike Shadow's, who's nails were filed and painted, and a pair of earrings were visible in Meilin's ears.
Raisha herself was wearing a jade green shirt with silver highlights, with a pair of black leggings covering her legs down to her ankles. She had part of her hair back in a brisk, similar to the hairstyle she had chosen for Shadow's wedding, with a silver snake earrings in her ears. Her was wearing heeled black boots, and several silver bracelets shine from her wrists.
"Oh my goodness, I haven't seen you all in such a long time!" Raisha smiled, getting up and giving Shadow and Meilin sisterly hugs. "When do you think Tasha, Xanthe, and Abeke will get here? And is Song even coming?"
"I haven't seen you in so long either!" Shadow said, her English accent evident. "Abeke said she was running late, but Tasha and Xanthe should be here any minute now! And yes, Song said she'd be here, with Katalin too, but I don't know when.
"I can't believe how long it's been!" Meilin said, nearly bouncing on her toes. "How have you guys been?"
"I've been well," Shadow said. "You know how Worthy and I have been, you guys came to our wedding. We renew our vows every two weeks., because every time he's adorable I feel like asking him to marry me again, so we just renew our vows the next day!" She finished with a laugh. "What about you and Rollan?"
"Oh, we've been dating for a while now." Meilin said with a shy grin, adding more when Shadow gave her an unsatisfied grin. "And on my birthday, he gave me a promise ring. We're planning on getting married, but we're going to wait a little bit, unlike you lovebirds." Meilin gave Shadow a look at the last part.
"Actually, a wedding is a bit overdue," Xanthe commented as she walked in with Tasha by her side, giving them all a quick hug.
Xanthe had a loose-fitting pale pink dress hung on her figure, reaching down to her ankles and matching her unique eyes in color. Her white-blond hair was pulled back in a flourishing braid, complementing her gold necklace adorned with a mountain pendant. She had a pair of comfortable looking tan sandals on her feet, and Raisha could see the shade of pale blue she had colored her nails with.
Unlike Xanthe, Tasha had a rather short dress on, as it only hung just above her knees, thought it was a shade of pale purple that stood out from the cafe, bringing out her teal blue eyes. Several necklaces hung from her neck, some adorned with pearls and others simple designs in gold. Her long blond hair hung freely from her shoulders, and from where Raisha could see, a gold swan ring on her figure gave away the fact that she had been prosperous the past few years.
"Oh, how I've missed you guys!" Tasha said brightly, jumping excitedly.
"We've missed you too!" Raisha said happily, giving Tasha a tight hug.
"Speaking of," Shadow interrupted, smiling. "How have you guys been with Takoda and Dawson?"
"Oh, you know how the flirt's been," Tasha replied with a dissmissige wave and a smile. "We've been dating for two years now, but we've been keeping the relationship steady." She pause, turning towards the display of hot drinks. "Am I the only one who's going to get an espresso? Yes? Well, I'm going to go get one." Tasha finned walking off towards the counter.
"Wonderful," Xanthe said with a smile, the sun shining on her necklace. While the girl had a skin condition that made the sunlight a threat, new medicinal advancement had developed a treatment than helped her be able to go in direct sunlight. "He finished college earlier than I did, so he flew over and moved into a hotel nearby so we could go out together. He's so sweet."
"You guys are adorable," Raisha said admiringly, grinning. Suddenly, the bell chimed again, and they all turned to see Abeke entering, the dark-skinned girl looking stunning in her attire. She had an leapord-print jumpsuit on, complementing her dark brown eyes with her style. Her hair was drawn back in an single tight broad, and it looked as if she had grown a lot in the past years, as the pair of tan boots she was wearing had no heels, and she had become a lot taller than the rest of them. Unlike everyone else, Abeke was only adorned with a single silver bracelet with a leapord on it.
"Ooh, Abeke!" Xanthe chimed, walking over and nearly toppling the girl over in a hug.
"Oh, hello!" Abeke repsonded, seemingly surprised at her friend's welcome.
Suddenly, the café bell chimed again, and they all turned to see Song entering with Katalin, both looking ever-enthusiastic.
Song was wearing a causal attire - she was dressed in a sea-green elbow length top with a pair of jean shorts fitting her waist comfortably. Her hair was drawn back into two ponytails flowing from her head, and her excited brown eyes immediately scanning everything around them. She had elegant sandals on, and no jewelry except a pair of water dragon earrings.
Katalin had a more relusive outfit on, which highly contradicted her personality. A green shirt was visible underneath her gray jacket, which was unbuttoned. A pair of expensive-looking sneakers adorned her feet, and her hair was in a high raised ponytail. She had a pair of knee length jeans on, and overall it looked like she was about to go for a jog or a hike. A pair of silver stud earrings were the only visible jewelry.
"Oh, come on, Abeke beat us here?" Song asked, not sounding quite enthusiastic with that fact.
"I haven't seen you in forever!" Katalin greeted, giving them all quick hugs.
"How have you guys beeeennnnn?" Tasha asked hyper-enthusiastically, bouncing on her toes and looking excitedly restless, probably from the espresso.
"Yeah Abeke, how's Conor?" Shadow asked with a sly smile.
Abeke's face immediately broke out into a fit of red, and she avoided Shadow's eyes as best as she could. "Well u-um,"
Suddenly another bell was heard, and they all turned (once again) to see another girl entering the café.
She had long black hair that flowed down, framing her tan face and blue eyes. She had a long blue-green dress on that clung tightly to her figure. Several silver necklaces hung from her neck, and bracelets chimed from her wrists as they hit each while she walked. Dolphin earrings were sparkling in each ear as her brown sandals tapped rhythmically against the floor.
"Oh!" Meilin interrupted, seeming to suddenly remember something. "I hope you guys don't mind, I invited my friend Kalani." From across the café table, Raisha saw Shadow make a noise of excitement. "So, Kalani," Meilin started sneakily once the girl had sat down. "How's Dorian?"
Several "Ooh,"'s were heard from a prune the table as the idea of this new girl and her relationship status were brought up.
"Dorian?" Kalani squeaked, obviously unnerved. "Umm, well-"
"You don't have to answer," Supplied Katalin helpfully, and Xanthe nodded in agreement. Kalani sighed in relief.
"Aww," Shadow said, mock pouting "I wanted to know." Suddenly, her face lifted and she turned to Raisha. "How have you and Jolt been? Or should I say, Jaisholt?" Shadow asked, and from across the table Raisha saw Kalani snicker.
"Well, um," Raisha started.
"Come on, tell us!" Song cried unhelpfully, encouraging the other further.
"Yeah, tell us!" Abeke chimed.
"Aren't you going to?" Xanthe asked softly.
"Well," She said, stuttering and getting more nervous with the unintentional pressure.
"Raishaaaa," Shadow said, and Raisha finally snapped.
"WE'RE NOT TOGETHER ANYMORE, OKAY?!"
Everyone went silent.
"I'm sorry we pressured you," Meilin said immediately, looking worried. "If you don't want to talk anymore you don't have to. We don't need to know everything if you don't want to say it." There were murmurs of agreement from across the table.
"No, no, I can talk about it," Raisha said, grabbing one of the complementary cinnamon rolls from the table and taking a bite. "It was going well for the first few months of being apart." She took another bite. "But a week or two later he just suddenly texted me that we needed to take a break." She stuffed the rest of the cinnamon roll in her mouth, chewing quickly. "I don't know why." (I was typing cinnamon roll and it autocorrected it to Conor, and I just burst out laughing XD)
"Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no," Shadow said, panick creeping into her voice. "That's going to ruin the whole trip!"
"What trip?" Tasha echoed, peering over the lid of her espresso.
"It was a surprise," Shadow said, looking at them all in turn. "Worthy and I were saving up so we could all go on a trip to New York City. We've been planning it for the last couple of years, and I got a plane ticket for each of you. We're going to stay at a hotel and go do some amazing stuff sprung the city," Shadow said, and at Kalani's crestfallen expression, added. "I even have two spare tickets for you, Kalani."
Kalani looked surprised. "How is that even possible? You didn't even know me before now!"
"I invited my sister and her friend, but there're busy with college applications. You could invite Dorian to come too, if your schedules are free." Kalani looked breathtaken.
"But what's the problem? What were you worried about? The thing that could ruin the trip?" Katalin asked, sounding worried for her friend.
"Worthy is at another spot, meeting up with all the boys," Shadow said. "He's doing the same thing I am - telling everyone there about the trip."
"And?" Meilin questioned.
"We invited Jolt."
Raises felt her heart explode with emotions - confusion, love, nervousness, excitement, dread.
"We can't just uninvite him," Shadow stated matter-of-factly. "Not only is he Worthy's friend, but it would just be plain rude." Shadow buried her head in her hands. "Oh Raisha, I didn't mean for this to happen!"
"It's fine," Raishs said calmly, although inside she was a wreck. "I'll be fine with him on the trip. After all, we're going on a trip together! To New York City!"
Everyone cheered as they remembered the exciting news, some wrapping their arms around each other.
"What could go wrong?"
