We're here to continue the large saga for this What if.

And that is...What if Robotnik had won earlier?

In the last part...

Sonic died at Green Hill

We looked into Robotnik's humanity and reasons for why he does this.

And Tails, still called Miles Prowler at this point, kidnapped by Robotnik and both brainwashed and partially robotized.

Now we're in Year 2 of the Mobian Exodus.

Everyone who hasn't been captured in Year 1 are now in bigger and more secure places.

What's everyone been doing during this dark time?

We already know Tails is Robotnik's personal servant, but what about everyone else besides him and Sonic?

Well Knuckles is out because without Robotnik fighting Sonic, neither of them would encounter him on Angel Island.

Knuckles won't be in this What if until later.

Amy Rose during this is living hidden from Robotnik's forces.

She can't always stay in her house because the robots search everywhere and probably stop by her place for a few patrols.

Amy, on some occasions, helps others hide for a while before they have to make a run for the nearest city.

Shadow is still in stasis because it isn't the exact time for him to come out.

As for Rouge, she's got something I came up with myself.

Rouge may be a world class jewel thief, but she knows there's nothing that can stop Robotnik from taking everyone captive.

So to avoid being robotized, she makes a deal with Ivo.

In exchange for not robotizing her, she gives away the weak spots for all the protected cities so Robotnik can take them over.

I know she wouldn't betray her friends when in a tight spot, but at this point, she hasn't met any of the cast.

She hasn't gotten to know Knuckles because she's been focusing on not being turned into a robot.

Robotnik is so close to total victory!

All he has to do is attack the cities at their weak spots and then he's won!

But now that he's so close to victory, he now feels that it's going to be a hollow victory.

Sure it was his and his grandfather's dream to have a world improved by science, but he wanted the world to be a better and brighter version of itself.

Over the two years he's started taking over the world, he's gotten attached to Miles Prowler.

The young boy was not only smart, but Ivo really enjoyed his companionship.

He was hard working

He was friendly and kind

He was mostly honest

For the first time in Robotnik's life, he actually felt like he cared for someone more.

Ivo may have wanted to make life better for others, but he had started a bond with someone who understands him.

He started to see Miles as someone else.

An adopted son.

I know that's a weird image to paint in your head, but I believe this kind of path for Robotnik would make sense.

Tails only got to be brothers with Sonic because he had no parents around for him.

As far as the franchise states, Tails is an orphan who was left behind by his parents.

With Sonic not being there for Tails, the only logical person who would take him in would be Robotnik.

Be reminded, I already told you Ivo has some humanity in him, he just lost it originally because the war against Sonic kept going and forced him to make risky moves.

Every time Robotnik looks at Miles, he's soon reminded that he's not really him anymore.

Ivo had stripped away Tails memories and individuality.

Tails is now a former shell of the fox he once was.

Robotnik decides to walk outside and look at the places he conquered.

He sees nothing but a lack of life and a presence of devastation.

With all that he's done to everyone...

To Sonic

To Tails

To the world

...only one thought went through his head.

"What have I done?"

He realized that after all he's done for the world....all he accomplished is drag it deeper into a dark hole.

He wanted to use his gifts in robotics to save the world, not destroy it!

He knew the government wouldn't cooperate with him in the first place, but he didn't want all the lives he wanted to improve to be gone.

He now has loads of regrets that he knows he'll have to fix if he wants to make up for this.

Robotnik's forces are just outside all protected cities, when they stop and pull out.

An hour later, word gets out to everyone that Robotnik has surrendered.

After the destruction starts getting fixed, Ivo goes before all the nations to face trial for his crimes against the world.

Before a world audience, he confesses to everyone that he thought what he was doing was right, but he now sees what he did just harmed people.

Everyone is, of course, infuriated at him for what he did.

But the world leaders know they just can't get rid of Ivo, he's still the best mind on the planet.

They eventually decide that the best choice is to charge him with public service and give him some of a pardon.

While most of the world is furious at this since everyone wants him dead for the robotizing, there are still some who are willing to give Robotnik a chance to redeem himself and use his gifts better this time.

Robotnik is willing to do whatever it takes to make up for his wrongdoings.

During this time, he uses this to bring Miles back to his original self.

While Miles is scared of Robotnik at first, he manages to assure him he isn't going to hurt him.

The young fox stays mostly scared, but he also shows some anger at him for doing this.

Robotnik is practically on his knees trying to apologize to Miles for all that he did to him.

He merely walked to help him use his talents for a better purpose, but he realized all he did was take away what made Miles Miles.

While Ivo turns away from him in shame for what he did, Tails thinks to himself.

It may have been mean and scary that he was forced to do all this, he did come back and fix all of this.

Miles looks at all the memories from the robot parts that he had on him.

He saw Robotnik through the images of all the things they did together.

Miles realized something that he was given and never knew would happen: he was given somewhat of a family.

It may not have been the family he wanted, but Robotnik showed that he cared for him and wanted to give him the best.

Miles turns to look at Robotnik, and does something no one would say to him.

"I forgive you."

Miles hugged Ivo in that moment, and he hugged back too.

After their tearful moment together, Robotnik asks the orphanage Miles was from and other children divisions if he could adopt Miles Prowler as his son.

They reluctantly agreed, but also left it to Miles to decide.

When he was asked for adoption, Miles happily said yes.

In a matter of days, Tails full name was Miles Robotnik.

Miles took well to this new life of his.

He was finally able to use his talents without being judged for them or his tails.

As for Ivo, Miles being adopted by him inspired him to change himself for the better.

He started helping places like orphanages and homeless shelters with supplies and donations.

He got several contacts from many cities to help make their communities the city of tomorrow.

And ironically, he even started exercising often to be healthy and reduce the "egg shaped" belly of his.

He's now twice the person he ever was.

But he knows there are more things he needs to fix before he can say it's over.

There was one thing he needs to do to make up for all he's done.

Bring Sonic the Hedgehog back.

That's where I'll leave it for now.
