Time seemed to move in slow motion to Sonic. Every second seemed to drag on forever, as he impatiently watched the clock tick from second to second. His house was silent. Nothing to be heard but the faint sound of his breathing and the tick-tock sounds coming from his clock. The time was 4:16 p.m. and Sonic was getting very anxious. He was supposed to meet Shadow at the outskirts of the city at 5, but it just seemed so far away. It would take forever for 5 o'clock to arrive. "I can't wait here any longer," Sonic stated as he stood up, grabbed his scarf and ran out of his house, leaving a faint blue streak behind him. As he was running, he ran into Amy, who had bags of groceries in her arms. "Oh, Hey Sonic. Where are you heading?" Sonic didn't want to tell Amy, knowing she has the biggest crush on Sonic. "Just out for a run," He lied. Luckily for Amy, she could see right through his lies. She set her bags on the ground and tapped her foot impatiently. "Sonic.." He let out a heavy sigh and told her the truth. Not the complete truth, but most of it. "I'm going to see someone, alright?" Amy knew Sonic was telling the truth, but she wanted to know the full story. "Who is this "someone"?" Sonic growled quietly and rolled his eyes. "I don't have time for this! I'm gonna be late!" He sped off away from Amy, leaving the pink hedgehog annoyed. 'He's up to something, I just know it. I got to follow him.' She picked up her bags, ran them to her house and began to follow Sonic with a pair of binoculars. Meanwhile, Sonic was speeding through town, avoiding bumping into anything or anyone. He glanced down at his wrist communicator and saw that it was 4:46. "I used up that much time just talking with Amy? Wow.." He said as he continued to run to the outskirts with Any secretly watching his every move.

Meanwhile, Shadow was finishing wrapping sports tape around his gloves and wrists. After he was done, he ripped the roll of tape and set it on the dresser. He looked up into the mirror to see his reflection. He let out a deep sigh and smiled softly. "This is it Shadow.. you're finally gonna tell him.." He said to himself with some confidence in his tone. He turned around and grabbed his green chaos emerald from his dresser. "If Sonic accepts my feelings.... I'll have an even bigger surprise for him," He said as he walked out of the guest bedroom, closing the door behind him. Rouge looked at the stairway to see Shadow. She immediately stood up and ran to give him a hug. She wrapped her arms around his neck and whispered into his ear, "Good luck Shadow." Then she backed away from Shadow, wiping a little tear from her eye as she smiled. "Thank you Rouge. I'll be back later." He stated as he disappeared in a flash of light. He reappeared in the outskirts. Shadow walked up against a tree and sat down, looking into the sunset. "Shadow?" His ears perked up as he turned around to face the azure hedgehog. "Sonic..." He said as he gave a small smile and patted the ground beside him lightly, gesturing him to take a seat beside him. Sonic walked over and sat beside the ebony hedgehog, also looking into the sunset. Little did they know, a certain pink hedgehog was spying on them from a few bushes a few metres back. "Now to see what you're up to Sonic.. wait a second, why is Shadow here?" She asked herself quietly as she put the binoculars to her eyes.

There was a rather odd and long silence between the 2 hedgehogs. Then, Shadow broke it. "Sonic..." He said as he slowly turned his head towards Sonic while the azure hedgehog did the same to him. "You're probably wondering why I called you here.. Aren't you.." Sonic looked into Shadows ruby orbs and nodded slowly. "Well let me show you." Shadow said as he gently grabbed Sonics hands, leaned in and pressed his tan lips against peachy lips. Sonic blushed madly as he was stunned by the kiss. Then, Shadow separated his lips from Sonics with a smirk on his face. "Well?" He questioned. Sonic was speechless. Then he looked at Shadow and smiled. "Aww Shadow.." He said as he put his arms around his neck and pulled him into another passionate kiss. Shadow was a little surprised but then eased into the kiss by putting his hands at Sonics waist and pulling him closer to himself. Amy Rose watched as the 2 hedgehogs kissed. She was completely stunned and heartbroken. After Sonic separated his lips from Shadows, he looked directly into his ruby eyes. "I love you, Shadow.." Shadow felt like his heart was going to come out of his chest. "I love you too, Sonic." They kissed once more. Amy couldn't stand to watch this any longer, so she turned and ran back to her house, with a few tears streaming down her cheeks. "Oh Sonic.." The azure hedgehog looked at Shadow. "I got one more surprise for you. Close your eyes.." Sonic smiled and closed his eyes. "Now count to 3.."
"Okay.. 1.....2.....3." Shadow smiled. "You can open your eyes now." Sonics eyes popped open to see that they were floating very high above the ground. He turned to look at Shadow and saw that he was in his super form. Sonic chuckled as he clung tight to Shadow. "You ready?" Shadow asked with a smirk. Sonic looked at him and giggled. "Okay, but you better not drop me." Shadow rolled his eyes playfully as he twirled Sonic around in the air. He tossed him up and caught him. He even let him sit on his stomach while he floated backwards. "So, what do you wanna do now?" Sonic thought for a moment before placing a kiss on Shadows lips, which Shadow returned to him. "How about we go to my place? It's getting kinda late.." Shadow nodded as he held Sonic under him as he flew to his house. Once they got there, Shadow returned to his normal form and they walked inside. They both looked at each other and yawned. "Let's go to bed, sleepyhead." Sonic said giggling as he took Shadows hand and walked him into the bedroom. They both took off their shoes and laid in bed together with the lights off. Sonic turned towards Shadow and nuzzled into him. "Goodnight, Shadow..." He said as he began to purr quietly and drift off to sleep. Shadow chuckles quietly as he stroked Sonics back quills, while he fell asleep.

The news

The azure hedgehog woke up slowly the next morning. He looked up to see that his lover was still sleeping. He smiled and let out a quiet sigh, along with a whisper, "No nightmares, just the way I like it," He smiled as he sat up and quietly tiptoed out of the bedroom. He wasn't feeling very hungry, so he decided to take a seat on the couch and watch a bit of TV. About a half an hour later, Sonic was watching TV when he felt a pair of hands cover his eyes. "Guess who." The voice spoke. Sonic chuckled and immediately recognized the voice. "Good morning Shads." Shadow laughed and took his hands away. He went and sat beside Sonic, pulling him against him. Sonic looked up slowly to see Shadow looking right back down at him. He giggled a bit and brought Shadows lips into a kiss, which Shadow returned to him. After about a minute of kissing, Sonic separated his lips from Shadows and stood up. "What do you want to do today?" Shadow shrugged his shoulders. Sonic thought for a few minutes, when he thought of an idea. "How about.... We invite everyone over to tell them about our relationship?" Sonic suggested with a little sparkle in his eyes. Shadow closed his eyes and gave a tiny smirk. "If that's what you want to do, we can," Sonic smiled and gave Shadow a hug. "Okay Shads. Can I tell everyone to be here at around 2ish?" Shadow nodded and starting flipping channels, looking for something to watch. Meanwhile, Sonic went to find his wrist communicator to give everyone a call.

Meanwhile with Amy Rose, the pink hedgehog was sitting in her house on the couch, thinking about what she had seen the previous night.

Amy Rose watched as the 2 hedgehogs kissed. She was completely stunned and heartbroken. Amy couldn't stand to watch this any longer, so she turned and ran back to her house, with a few tears streaming down her cheeks.

As Amy thought about it, she could already feel her eyes swelling up with tears. She grabbed a tissue and wiped her eyes, because she was sick of crying. She sniffled softly and looked over to see a picture of her and Sonic in a frame. She walked up to it and picked it up off of the side table. The pink hedgehog looked at it. She felt her heart sink. "S-Sonic... H-How could you d-do this to me..." She whispered quietly as she felt a tear roll down her cheek and fall onto the glass. She felt as if her whole world had collapsed onto her shoulders and everything around her was grey and gloomy. Just then, her ear twitched when she heard the sound of her wrist communicator go off. She looked to see who was calling. It was Sonic. She gasped and wiped away her tears quickly and then answered the call. "Hey Amy," He said with a smile. Amy tried her best to hide her sadness with a fake smile, which Sonic was buying. "Hey Sonic, what's up,"
"I'm just asking everyone if they can come over to my house at around 2ish? Can you make it?" Amy knew she didn't really want to talk to Sonic or anyone for that matter but she knew it would be best to see them. "Yeah, I'll be there," Sonic smiled and winked as he hung up. Amy sighed sadly and wiped her eyes. "I really don't want to be bothered right now.." She said quietly as she held the frame close to her heart while her voice echoed around her house.

2 Hours later, Everyone had arrived at Sonics house, wondering why Shadow was still here. Everyone except Amy. "Hey, does anyone know where Amy is?" Everybody shook their heads no, as Sonic scratched his head in confusion. "She said she--" Then, there was a knock at the door. Sonic went and opened it to see Amy. "Amy! There you are!" Amy smiled as she walked into his house and immediately walked over to the couch and took a seat next to Rouge. "Hey Hun, how are you?" Rouge said as she looked at Amy with a smile. Amy tried to be as happy as she could so she wouldn't show any signs of hurt or sadness. "I'm good you?" She replied, her voice a bit shaky. Rouge took note of the change in her voice. "Sugar, are you alright? You sound a little... different.." Amy shook her head and smiled. Rouge shrugged and went back to talking with Knuckles. Shadow and Sonic were talking with each other secretly in the kitchen. "So, when should we tell them?" Sonic asked his boyfriend. Shadow scratched his head and then replied, "I think we should tell them in a few minutes, that way they know we actually called them over for a reason." Sonic nodded, smiled and went back into the living room, with Shadow not far behind. A few minutes later, everyone were in little conversations except Amy. She was just sitting quietly on the couch. Sonic looked at Shadow and winked. He nodded in response. Sonic stood up from his seat and got everyone's attention, "Everyone? There's something I... Well we need to tell you something." Sonic began as he cheeks turned a light shade of pink. "We? Who's this "We"?" Knuckles asked. Sonic peaked over at Shadow, as he gestured him to continue. "First, "we" as in Shadow and I." Both Tails and Rouge both had little smiles on their faces. Amy slowly looked up at Sonic, wanting to just get up and run away not wanting to hear what he was about to say. "Okay, here it is. Shadow and I... are well... Together now." Knuckles and Sticks' jaws both dropped at the same time, while Tails and Rouge stood up and started to clap. A few seconds later, Knuckles and Sticks joined in clapping. Shadow stood up and walked next to Sonic, grabbing his chin gently and placing a loving kiss on his lips. Sonic kissed him back, while everyone except Amy awed. After their kiss and everyone was finished clapping, Sonic noticed from the corner of his eye that Amy was wiping away a tear from her eye. He walked over at sat beside her. "Amy? Are you alright?" She didn't respond, all she did was turn her head away from Sonic with a light sniffle. Sonic sighed and whispered to her, "If you want to talk to me, I'll be with everyone else.." He stood up and walked slowly away.

About 20 minutes later, Sonic was having a conversation with Tails. He felt a finger tap him on the shoulder lightly. He turned around to see Amy, looking at him with red, teary eyes. "Amy?" He said as she immediately pulled him into a hug. Then, she let go and took a step back. "Why..." She said quietly. Sonic couldn't quite understand what she was saying. "Huh?" Amy got a little more upset as she collapsed to her knees as a few tears streamed down her face.  "Why?" She said loud enough for everyone to hear. This caught everyone's attention, especially Shadow, as he walked over to Sonics side. "What's the problem, Rose." Shadow said in a monotone voice. Amy sniffled and looked up at Sonic and Shadow. "Y-You knew I loved y-you Sonic.. b-but you chose h-him.." Shadow rolled his eyes slightly while Sonic bent down to her side. "Listen, Amy, you know I don't love you. Only in a brotherly-sisterly. I do love you, you're like a sister to me. Remember the time you said you'd do whatever it takes to make me happy?" Amy nodded. "Well, I'm happy with Shadow, because I love him." Amy wiped away her tears and stood up. "I understand Sonic. I'm sorry I'm making such a big fuss over this.. But all I care about is that you're happy. And if you're happy, that means I'm happy." She smiled and gave him another hug. He hugged her back. Then she smiled again and skipped away to talk to Sticks. Sonic looked at Shadow and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Shadows cheeks turned a little red as his gently grabbed Sonics face and smirked, giving him a kiss on the lips. Everyone awed silently and clapped for the couple. After they finished their kiss, they both looked at each other and exchanged a smile and nuzzled each other's foreheads together.
