Chapter 8: Jacket - Kirino Ranmaru
Kariya: *reads the story* *then turns at Luna* I'm impressed, Luna-chan. I thought you're going to make Kirino-senpai's story like Genda-san does. *smirks*
Luna: *blushes* W-will you stop saying that?! Seriously Kariya! *sighs in exhaustion*
Kariya: *snickers in the background*
Luna: Anyways, *clears her throat* here's your Kirino fanfic @deinahmarie! I hope you like it! :)
Kirino: *looks at it* You really made me a story, didn't you Luna?
Luna: Of course Kirino-senpai! *has rainbows and glitters* Everyone loves you after all!
Kirino: *sweatdrops* Er... Thanks, I guess.
Luna: BTW, Celestia made this! And I just helped her apply some humor and stuffs! *smiling widely* Though, the format will be not as good as Kariya does-
Kariya: Hah! In your face Kirino-senpai! XD
Kirino: *merely rolls his eyes at his junior*
Luna: -since Celestia became lazy while writing this. So expect some undetailed background and conversations. And there will be some OC's as well! *claps her hands in final* Well that's all, minna-san! Please enjoy-! Oh and Celestia's pretty busy at the moment, so I'm stuck here with Solar-chan who is- *glances at Solar* eating my lasagna-! *stops in mid-way* No... *eyes widening, she drops to her knees* Solar-chan... That's mine! *starts to cry*
Solar: Oops, sorry Luna-chan. :3
Luna: *sniffles* My sweet lasagna... All gone...
Kirino: *sweatdrops more* Um.. Enjoy.
(T/n) - Team name
..~*~..
Walking at the sidewalks together with my teammates, my eyes trailed over at the map I'm holding. Right now, I'm looking for this school named Raimon because my 3 years frenemy, Shindou Takuto, just recently messaged me from my email two days ago to visit him and maybe have a soccer match with his teammates. Of course I agreed, I mean- we haven't seen each other a few months ago or more after the Fifth Sector incident. I guess I'm quite thankful that Shindou and his team managed to save soccer.
Still gazing down at the map, someone laid a hand on my shoulder, I looked up from the map and saw our ace striker, Kamui [1] with a playful smile plastered on his face. He pointed at the map, saying, "Are you sure we're going at the right way?" At that, I rolled my eyes at him and playfully punched his shoulder.
"Shut up, you dark striker [2]. Of course we're going at the right way!" I told him stubbornly to which he just chuckled and raised both his hands in mock surrender.
"Alright, alright, we're going at the right way." He said and I grinned at him as the others chuckled at our little session. Then I proceeded to read the map again when I heard Shorin, our playmaker musing.
"(F/n), you still have that jacket with you which the stranger gave two years ago?" At that subject, my ears perked up and looked at her; she was reading a book that is on her hands while successfully trying not to bump with some posts and the others. Then she averts her face from the book and looked at me, I nodded and patted my backpack, grinning.
"Of course! I brought it with me actually. Besides, I still owe that stranger until now!" I told them, memories of the stranger flashing on my mind. Bright sapphire, enticing orbs that seem to glow at that fateful day, eyes filled with warmth and kindness swirling on those depths - he smiled at me. My heart gave a huge skip at the thought of it. Ever since that day, I fell in love with him - deeply that until today I'm still looking for him.
Takuya, Kamui's best bud, raised his brow at me, he shook his head and crossed his arms. "Are you for real (f/n)? It's been two years since that incident. How are you gonna owe him if he's nowhere to be found?" The others nodded and whispered in agreement. I pouted and sighed. Well, maybe he's right after all. But I can't give up right now! This love growing inside me is slowly turning into a driving force; it's really motivating me!
They looked at me, expecting for an answer, I shook my head and gave them a determined look, "I know, but I swore myself to find him. I mean, I really owe my life for him! He even cheered me up even though he doesn't know me! There are only a few people in this world who has that kind of personality!" I told them, and I blushed at how weird that sounded. They looked at me and slowly, a grin drew their faces. Kamui chuckled.
"Is someone having a crush~?" He teases. My blush intensified as I pouted at him.
"That's just mean Kamui-kun." I grumpily told him and he laughed.
"Well, it's true right? You even brag about him for so many months that I have to bring my headphones with me all the time!" He said, and I pouted more. Well, that's true... But I can't help myself! He's just that kind and...charming.
Still pouting, I replied to him no more and looked away from them. Memories of that stranger is playing in my mind - like a movie set as my heart leaped again.
Two years ago...
I stood patiently at the train station, waiting for a stop to my house's street as I rub my arms to provide heat. I looked upwards the sky and heaved a sigh; a puff of white smoke left my lips, the sky is growing darker and the universe is getting more frigid to the point where the coldness is starting to prickle down my skin - I let out a shiver, cursing to myself for leaving without a heavy sweater to bring with me.
Recently, I just came here from Shorin's house because we need to finish our school project which is due on next week. Of course I asked for my parents' approval and they let me go since Shorin is a girl and my friend, so it's pretty fine with them. Not to mention, these are grades we are talking about! If I do not cooperate, sensei will give me a big flat grade of 50.
I started to shiver so much that I'm desperately trying to rub my arms quickly as if to create some heat. Currently, I'm only cladded with a simple long sleeved red shirt and some mahogany tights and a pair of crimson red shoes. Yes, it's not an ideal fashion to wear at this kind of weather. My teeth chattered, if only I just watched the news yesterday, I wouldn't be in this condition.
I made a move to sit down on one of the benches and hugged myself more. I checked my wristwatch; 5:58, well damn. I really need to go home fast. I gave a brief look at my left where the train should be egressing with. No train, not even a single sound of it. I groaned and hugged myself more, this is getting really creepy. Well there are some people around here but that's the case! I don't trust strangers, they're just that creepy and scary.
Still shivering from the cold, my eyes drooped lowly - I opened my eyes quickly and shook my head to push away the drowsiness that is consuming me. But within five seconds, they started closing again and I can't help but to give in, seeing how tired and sleepy I am - when I felt warmth ensconcing me, my eyes shot open and I raised my head to the intruder. Sapphire orbs met mine and at that moment, my heart thumped rapidly against the fabric. I grasped the shirt where my heart is and took a shuddering breath.
The stranger smiles. "You look as if to fall asleep miss." With that caring tone along with that charming smile of his, I felt my whole body constantly heating up but I shook it away. He's a stranger! I should not be feeling like this!
I was about to give him a harsh reply when I realized that he has his jacket wrapped around me, heating me up. I gripped its hems and softly said, "Thank you."
He chuckled. "It's no problem miss. You need it more than I do." I blushed at his statement, he went to the bench and he asked, "You don't mind if I sit here, do you?"
I shook my head and smiled at him, "it's no problem at all." At that, he smiled at me and made himself comfortable. We just sat there in silence for a couple of minutes as I fumbled with the hems of my shirt, debating if I should talk to him or not.
"So," he suddenly says and I looked at him, surprise. He looked at me, confused, "what are you still doing here? Girls like you shouldn't be staying here at this kind of time. It's dangerous." I was surprised; the stranger - this charming stranger, worried for my well-being. That's.. Sweet. I blushed and smiled at him.
"Well, I'm waiting for the train that leads to my street but sadly, nothing has appeared yet." I frowned. He still looked at me - this time with a pondering lineament on his face.
"Is that so? Well, let me stay here then for a while until-" He started when I heard the train's howl in the distance. I frowned subconsciously, I wanted to talk to him but the universe has planned something for me. It's weird, I mean he's a stranger and I'm waiting for the train impatiently then this guy just appeared and now I don't want to go home but that train has ruin it for me.
"There goes your train." He smiled at me as we both stood up. I flushed beet red, I returned the smile, waiting for the train to appear. I looked at him to see him fumbling with his phone when he looked at me. At that moment, my heart seemed to have stop for a while before accelerating rapidly. Then he said, "Pardon me, but I need to go. My mother is expecting me to go home immediately."
"Oh no, I did not bother you, did I?" I quickly asked him, guilty. He shook his head, laughing as he shoved his cellphone inside his pocket.
"Ah, no you didn't. It's my decision to stay with you after all. No need to feel guilty." He grinned at me, then his brows furrowed in concern, "But are you going to be alright here? I can stay here for a while until the train arrives." My eyes widened.
I quickly shook my head, "No!" I clamped my mouth shut for shouting. I blushed profusely and shook my head again, removing my hand from my lips. "I mean- it's not like that. I wanted to talk to you, but I don't want to make your mother wait." I mumbled out, he still looked at me unconvinced, I waved my hands frantically, "Don't worry! I'll be fine on my own. Though thanks for your concern but I'll be alright!" I said, "besides, the train will be arriving here, so no need to fret." As if on cue, the train finally arrives.
"Souka, very well then. I hope you safely return to your street then." He said. I nodded and entered the train with the others and quickly find a seat - I froze when I realized I haven't got his name yet as the conductor yelled (sorry, I don't know anything about trains and stuffs! Please do critique me.). I turned to face the window if he was still there when I realized I still have his jacket around my shoulders. I removed it from me and stood up.
"Wait, hold on, I need to retu-" I told at the person beside me when the train started to move slowly. I quickly sat from the chair and looked out the window to still see him there waving at me. I quickly waved his jacket with a worried expression, as if to say, 'your jacket... How am I...?'
He shook his head and just flicked his hand from me, smiling, as if to say, 'it's all yours. Don't worry.'
I stared at him, trying my best to memorize his features; two carnation pigtails which made him look like a girl but charming nonetheless, bright sapphire eyes gleaming from the dark and a lean body - I blushed and just waved at him until he disappear from the distance. I sat down with my shoulders slouched down and clutched his black jacket firmly. Someday, I will find you. Just you wait.
"Hello? Earth to (f/n) (l/n)! We're here!" Mizuki, our midfielder, called and I quickly snapped away from my trance to see her hand waving against my face. I pushed it away from me and glared at her, she cocked her brow at me, "Don't you give me that glare, young lady. We're here." She said, I looked up and saw the name, Raimon. I grinned instantly and looked at them excitedly. Mizuki gave me a warning glance. "Don't. You. Dare. Run-!"
Too late, I quickly ran from them and to the soccer club as they followed me - I snickered, looking over my shoulders to watch them shouting curses at me. When their faces morphed into a warning and worry, I gave them a confuse look and turned my face in front only to bash with someone as we fell from the impact with me on top of the person.
"(F/n)-chan!"
"Captain!"
I groaned and shook my head from the impact, my teammates' voices blending together. I clutched my head when I heard a groan below me. I blinked and looked below me - my eyes widened when I saw those familiar sapphire eyes meeting mine.
No way... Is that...?
He looked at me for a second and smiled - my heart dropped. He softly said, "Sorry, could you uh... Move away? I can't breath *[3]." Still dumbfounded, I quickly scrambled away from him and stood up - my heart beating so fast. It's him. It really is him, but how come he doesn't...? I shook my head, I held out my hand for invitation and he smiled and caught my hand - sparks ignited and shoot in my arms creating goosebumps. I shiver, he must've felt it too when I felt his hand shiver as well along with his eyes being widened. I took no heed from it and lifted him up.
I tittered and sheepishly rubbed my neck, "Sorry about that." Then we released our hands, I bit my lips when my hand lost contact with him, I wanted to hold him longer, but I think that's just weird. I unconsciously held it with my free hand and smiled at him. He looked at me, puzzled for a while and slowly, a smile etched his lips, though he looked unconvinced. I blushed.
"I-it's fine. It's my fault too for not..." His voice lowered, eyes still shifting from mine. I coiled my hands in expectation, waiting for him to remember anything. But my shoulders slouched in disappointment when he said, "Anyways, are you from (t/n)?"
Trying to shake away the disappointment inside me, I forcibly smiled, "Y-yeah. I'm Shindou's frenemy, by the way."
"Ah, (f/n) (l/n), captain of (t/n), am I right?" He said and grinned, he held out his hand again and greeted, "My name is Kirino Ranmaru. Welcome to Raimon." I held his hand, his warmth engulfing mine, I greeted.
So that's your name...
"Nice to meet you Kirino-kun. And thank you." We shook our hands, I hesitated for a while. I never wanted to release his hand, it's just so comforting and it felt so..right. I looked at him, he also seems to be hesitating as well. I blushed - though it did not last longer when Kamui cleared his throat.
"Er.. Captain, Kirino-san, Sorry to DISRUPT the MOMENT, but shall we get going?" I looked at him, narrowing my eyes in which he responded with teasing grin. Quickly, Kirino releases my hand and blushed faintly.
"Right, sorry about that. Um.. This way please." He turned to his heels and gestured for us to follow him as we trailed behind him. Kamui walked alongside with me and whispered.
"It's him, isn't he?" I nodded.
"Yes. Kirino-kun is him."
"But how come he doesn't know you?" He asked back, confused. I sighed and shook my head, frowning.
"I don't know, but I'll try to let him remember."
He looked at me, worried. Yes, Kamui is really worried for me seeing I love the guy who doesn't remember me. He's a total sweetheart and like a big bro to me even though he's such a tease. "And if he doesn't?"
I coiled my fists, I looked at Kirino as he walked calmly in front of us. I took a sharp intake of breath and said, "He will. I'll guarantee that. I promised myself." Kamui just looked at me, then nodded slowly and finally did not say anything back. I glanced back at Kirino.
I just hope he will...
..~*~..
"Greetings Raimon Eleven," I greeted when we showed ourselves in front of the team. My eyes trailed over at Shindou and smirked, "Long time no see, Shindou-kun."
He instantly smirked back and trudged forward to me, he said, "Nice to see you again, (f/n)-chan. I take you got my message" I raised a brow at him and simpered.
"Of course. Why will I show up if I didn't receive it anyways?" He chuckled at my response, then in one fell of a swoop, he embraced me, I heard my teammates snickering and I just chuckled at their silliness as I patted his back, embracing back.
"You still haven't change (f/n). I like that." He released me and smiled, "Your team are welcome here. Ah, before I forgot," He gestured for his team, then he introduced them to me one-by-one. I smiled at them, but my mind is focused somewhere else - or rather with someone. I looked at him, frowning. He is talking with this teal haired guy, who is smirking at him as Kirino gave an annoyed expression at him. I gripped the straps of my backpack where the jacket lay hidden.
Kirino-kun...
..~*~..
"Whew, Raimon team is really good." Panting really hard, Kamui sat beside me and took a swig of his canteen. He gave a refreshing sigh and pointed at a certain Raimon team member, "Especially that dark navy haired guy. He has the same power level as mine." I rolled my eyes at him, wiping the sweat beads rolling down my neck with a towel.
"Puh-lease, comparing you to Tsurugi-kun is like comparing a star from a campfire *[4]. He's just that good." I joked and he gave me a feign wounded look.
"You deeply hurt me (f/n). As your ace striker, you don't have to be such a criticizable captain." He pointed out and I laughed with him as I swigged down the remaining water from the bottle. "And Tsurugi huh?" I nodded. We were about to stand and go to the fields to play with the other members, when Shindou appeared.
"Hey, Shindou. What's up?" I greeted, Shindou smiled at me then took a glance at Kamui. Almost understanding what he meant, Kamui looked at me.
"I guess I'll see you later then (f/n)." Kamui nodded at the both of us and I waved at him as he made his way towards the others. I looked at Shindou.
"So, something wrong?" I asked him coolly. He shook his head, but gave me something. I blinked and looked at the item he gave me. Rolled papers. I cocked a brow at him, "What am I going to do with this?"
He smirked, "You want to help Kirino remember, right? Then this is your chance." I blushed. Yes, Shindou knows what happened that day since I told him the whole story three weeks after the event. Why did he not tell it to Kirino since they are childhood friends? I have no idea. He's just being... Shindou..
"What do these papers have to do with it?" I asked him, annoyed. He merely chuckled at my reaction and shrugged his shoulders, smiling.
"Kirino is on his way outside, and he needed these papers since our sensei just asked him to check it. And he seems to have forgotten to bring it with himself."
My eyes widened, I looked at the papers on my hand and pointed at it. "Check?! All of these!? Your sensei is mad!" I exclaimed. He laughed, nodding.
"I know. But he doesn't seems to mind. After all, he's just that kind." I nodded.
Yes. Way too kind. Like that day.
..~*~..
"Kirino-kun?" Seeing him hiding behind the lockers, I went over him and patted his shoulder. He jumped a bit, he looked at me with his eyes widened as I gave him an apologizing smile, "I'm sorry, did I scare you-?" He quickly took me by the arm and pulled me closer. My face flushed in crimson.
"I'm sorry, (f/n). Just so you know, there are fangirls around here. And I can't go out with them seeing me. They're just that desperate!" I giggled at his worry stricken face and my eyes glinted up when an idea flashed on my mind.
"Ne Kirino-kun, I have an idea on how to help you get away without those fangirls following you." I told him and his face lit up as I reached over my backpack.
"Really?" He asked, and I nodded, rummaging inside.
"Of course! Here, you can wear this-!" I stopped mid-way and froze. I looked at him again; he has this charming smile like he usually was, I'm debating if I should return his jacket or not. Then I sighed and reached the black jacket inside and pulled it. Then I faced him, waiting for any reactions - he just merely smiled at me and took the jacket from me. Disappointment weighed on my heart, but still smiled nonetheless, despite how hard it was.
"Thank you for this (f/n)-chan, I'll return this later I promise." Having that smile plastered on his face is enough to make me smile as well. It hurts of course, but there's nothing I can do about it. Maybe he has really forgotten me - heck, I'm just a girl near the train station! It's not that important anyways!
I shook my head, it's weird. Why would he return the jacket he lent me two years ago? Ah right, he has forgotten about it. I frowned for a moment but then smiled at him, saying, "Huh? No it's fine. You really need it. Just keep it alright?"
He blinked at me, then glanced at the jacket then to me again. "Why? Is there something wrong?" I shook my head.
"Nothing's wrong, Kirino-kun. Oh! Before I forgot," I rummaged again inside my bag and plucked out the papers Shindou handed me, "Shindou handed this to me a while ago. And I think you might need it." He smiled and took the papers from me appreciatively.
"Thank you (f/n). Sorry for the intrusion though."
I shook my head, "It's fine actually." Then I smiled at him teasingly and winked, throwing a punch on his shoulder, "Well I have to go! Good luck with your fangirls and in checking those papers!" Without waiting for his reply, I inclined away from him and ran away.
So much for remembering things lately..

Meanwhile at Kirino's side...
Kirino hasn't left his position for three minutes, he just merely stood there, bewildered and worried at (f/n)'s attitude she showed him. It's as if she's disappointed or sad or something. He spared a glance at the black jacket before him; there's something weird going on around here and why does this jacket look familiar? Now he mentions it, why does (f/n) looked familiar as well?
He blinked, pondering and looking for answers - then the realization hit him hard upon remembering something. A shiver ran down his spine, down to his toes then around his body and he froze, eyes widening. Quick as flash, he ran down after the path where (f/n) took and repeatedly cursed at himself.
How could he not remember? All those signs awhile ago, how come he hasn't realized it yet? He's been looking for (f/n) for two years ever since they met. He even returns back at the train station - if he has some free time - but then later stopped one year ago, because he's just that busy. Now she's here, Kirino let her slipped from his fingers, for the second time. He fell in love with her ever since they first met! And he'll never waste this opportunity - not if he's alive and breathing!
Not bothering to wear the jacket, he cursed to himself after realizing what he did. He was about to wear it when he heard a high pitched shrill coming from a distance; he gulped, he's been caught. Almost cursing the heavens, he ran as fast as he could with his fangirls trailing after him. Forget wearing the jacket, right now he needs to find (f/n) and get away from his fangirls.
*****
Shoulders slouching, I went to the fields where the Raimon team and my teammates assemble, waiting for me. I bit my lips to hold in the whimpers that are wanting to be released. My eyes started to prickle, signaling of the tears' role. I rubbed my eyes quickly and waved at Shorin and the others, smiling my best.
She looked at me, "What happened to you? You look..broken." I just rolled my eyes at her, well duh? I smiled at her, forcibly.
"Broken? Seriously?" I scoffed and flicked my hand nonchalantly, "Nah, I'm just tired." Tired of waiting actually, I thought bitterly, then I asked, "Where's Shindou? I need to talk to him, before we leave."
Kamui gave me a look - almost as if to say, 'he didn't, did he?' I shook my head at him sadly and his brows furrowed worriedly, though I just smiled at him and he hesitantly answered. "He just took something inside the club room-"
"Ah (f/n), good timing-!" I didn't let him finish my sentence when I quickly walked over him and hugged him. I needed my frenemy's comfort. I don't know, I just needed to hug my love interest's best friend. He stumbled a bit in astonishment but hugged me still nonetheless. "(F/n)? Are you alright?" I shook my head, I tightened my hug on him.
"Shindou, he didn't remember. He didn't remember me. It hurts." I said, voice strained, before releasing him. He looked down at me, eyes widened.
"What? But- that's impossible! He always talks about you after your encountering!"
"But he didn't! He just didn't." I told him, I can feel my eyes prickle with tears. When Shindou was about to reply, a distant voice yelled.
"(F/n)!"
My heart skipped a beat at that voice. I turned away from Shindou to cast a glance at the owner of the voice, just to be embraced tightly from a very lean, yet well-built body. My eyes dilated, I know who this is. Does this mean..?
He released me and grabbed my shoulders, eyes focused to mine. I almost melted in my spot when his eyes were directed to mine, no one else's. I gulped.
"K-Kirino-kun?"
"I remembered now! I'm so sorry if it took me so long. I never wanted to hurt you." His eyes held both pain and regret, and yet I just smiled, tearfully. I shook my head hastily and laughed, my voice cracking in sheer happiness.
"You idiot! Don't you know how long I've waited for you?!" I shouted at him, tears rolling down my cheeks. I embraced him tightly. He chuckled lightly and rubbed my back.
"I know. And I'm really sorry. I'll make it up for you, I promise." He softly said and we broke our hugs. We both stared at each other, lost in each other's eyes. We both leaned in slowly. I can even hear Kamui saying, 'Oh fudge, now they're gonna do it.' We are about to lock our lips when we heard many very high pitched horrified voices.
"Oh my god! Kirino-sama! Noooooo!"
We chuckled at each other, not minding those fangirls and resumed what we are supposed to do and locked our lips. Both our teammates gave a cry and some wolf-whistles, but we took them no mind. Right now, our only main focus is our love and at each other.
..~*~..
[1] - Kamui is a character from Fire Emblem: If and instantly, I love his name and his features. He's such an ikemen! <3 (BTW, the Kamui I portrayed here is different from the original one.)
[2] - Well, since Kamui-kun is a dark prince in FE:If, I made him a dark striker here. Hehehe.
*[3] - I just remembered of this dialogue from a Filipino movie entitled, "She's Dating A Gangster." It means, "I love you." XD it's nothing of importance, don't worry.
*[4] - I decided to post Viridi's dialogue from Super Smash Bros. WiiU here. Since it fits the moment. Hahahaha! Eh... Never mind. -_-

Kariya: *snickers behind* Since Luna's quite.. busy right now, I'll take the role. *looks at the readers* Requests are still open, minna-san if you all are wondering. Though, next up is either Shindou-senpai or Amemiya-san. That's all.
Luna: Thank you Kariya-kun... Now I must... *begins sulking*
Kishibe: Not again. *facepalms*
