Tenya Iida
The dorm halls were quiet, save for the occasional creak of a floorboard beneath your bare feet. You glanced at the clock as you tiptoed through the hallways. It was far too late to be awake, and you knew exactly who would remind you of that if he found out.
You were on the third floor, where you knew Iida's room was. The thought of seeking him out made your stomach flutter with nerves, but you pushed through as tightly held your plush toy around your arms.
"If Iida finds out I'm awake, he's going to lecture me for hours," you mumbled under your breath. When you reached his door, you hesitated. Your hand hovered over the handle, wondering if it was really worth disturbing him. He was strict, sure, but his kindness always shone through when it mattered most.
Summoning your courage, you knocked softly. It didn't take long for the door to creak open, revealing Iida in a pair of neatly pressed pajamas. His glasses were nowhere to be seen, and his hair was slightly scuffed from lying down. He blinked at you in surprise.
"(Y/N)? What are you doing up at this hour?" he asked, his voice low but firm. "You should be asleep."
You shuffled awkwardly, staring at the floor. "I-I know, but... I tried so hard, Iida. I couldn't fall back asleep, and I didn't want to be alone."
Iida's expression softened, though his tone remained matter-of-fact. "You might be a little distressed. It's important to address these feelings to ensure proper rest." He stepped aside, gesturing for you to enter. "Come in. But you must promise to try and sleep."
Relief washed over you as you nodded. "I promise," you said quickly, shuffling into the room.
His room was neat, as expected, with his bed positioned perfectly against the far wall. The blankets were folded just so, though they were now slightly ruffled from where he'd been lying moments ago. A small desk sat in the corner, its surface spotless save for a neatly stacked pile of books and notes.
Iida gestured to the bed. "Lie down. I'll adjust the blanket."
You hesitated. "Wait... You're not mad?"
"Of course not," he said, rubbing his eyes. "Providing support to our guest in need is part of my responsibility as class representative. Now, please, lie down before you catch a chill." You climbed onto the bed, settling into the soft mattress as Iida pulled the blanket over you. He fussed over the edges, ensuring you were completely tucked in, before sitting down in a chair nearby.
"Iida... aren't you going to sleep?" you asked, peeking at him from beneath the blanket.
"I'll stay here until you've fallen asleep," he said firmly. "It would be irresponsible of me to leave you unattended while you're feeling distressed."
You bit your lip, guilt creeping in. "But...I don't want to keep you up."
"Nonsense," he replied, folding his hands neatly in his lap. "Ensuring your well-being is far more important than a few lost hours of sleep. Besides, it's the least I can do as your friend."
The warmth in his voice made your chest feel light. You smiled faintly, your body finally beginning to relax. "Thanks, Iida. I think you're kind of like a big brother sometimes."
Iida just simply nodded. "I appreciate the sentiment, (Y/N). Now, close your eyes and focus on your breathing. I'll be right here if you need anything."
You did as he instructed, letting his calm, steady presence ease you into sleep. At some point, you yawned and snuggled under the blankets, and Iida allowed himself to relax. With a small smile, he leaned back in his chair, his gaze soft as it lingered on your peaceful expression. He looked around the room, climbing back into bed with you.
Though he wouldn't admit it aloud, moments like these reminded him of why he worked so hard to protect his friends. Being there for you in such a simple yet meaningful way felt as important as any heroic act.
