Chapter Eighteen

"Well well, we finally meet face to face, Prince Lloyd." Chen laughed, standing at the steps of the palace. "Since you kind of obliterated our home we've decided to take over your pad. Feels pretty bad losing the place you called home, huh?"

"It'll be the last time we ever meet, I'm gonna do what my dad should have done long ago!" The blonde growled, golden power emanating from his palms. "Once I'm through with you, I'll slaughter all the snakes for what they've done!"

The noodle chef had to use all his willpower not to laugh harder at that threat, but he knew a powered up grandson of the First Spinjitzu Master shouldn't be underestimated, even if he was going to take it all out on some serpents. He would have asked what exactly they have done if he didn't realize Wu wasn't with him. "Crap, he must have snuck in during the attack!" He thought, he was about to rush back inside when a blast hit his back.

"You're not going anywhere!" Lloyd snapped, readying another gold energy ball against the old restaurant owner. "Ugh, that was such a cliché thing to shout. Whatever, you'll be too dead to cringe at it."

"Well, before you reduce me to a pile of ash lemme ask you something. Why are you always doing whatever Wu says? Surely someone of your magnitude can make his own decisions, right?" Chen coughed, wincing as he struggled to sit up. He could only manage to turn himself to face the Jade Prince.

"What are you saying? You think my uncle, who's lived much longer than you ever have, would lie to me?! He's warned me all about the snakes, all their war crimes, how their Pharoah planned to conquer our side of the island."

"..... Well you got the last part right at least. You sure think highly of that old man."

"He raised me, he swore to avenge my parents.."

"And is very generous with the beer, if your breath is anything to go on. God do you ever brush your teeth?"

"What?! How dare you mock the Jade Prince!" Lloyd hissed, he launched another golden energy ball right at Chen, but a fireball intercepted it. "Wha-Kai? What do you think you're doing?! You were supposed to aim at Chen!"

The fire master turned to the squirming chef, then back at his prince. "I can't. We don't know everything about the past."

"But Wu-"

"We only ever heard what Wu said, the serpentine have a whole different story when Cole and I talked to them. They never sided with Aspheera all those years ago, they hated her just as much as we do!" Kai interrupted. "Why am I even telling you this? You're not going to change."

Lloyd didn't respond, he lowered his hand as he took in everything he just heard. His entire life he was always told to never trust a snake, that defending them lead to the death of his parents. Now he was being told the serpentine weren't any different from humans, that they suffered for so long. Could there really be more to the war than Wu was letting on? Where was he anyways? That last question would be answered by a rift opening up in the sky, three masks surrounding a green light.

A familiar figure dropped into the temple of resurrection, groaning as he stood up. "Gotta work on that landing. How long have I been dead for?"
