"It's funny Perce, I thought you were dead." The looks of shock on the agents faces' only grew at this comment.
"I have a good answer. I was supposed to die, but you know me, always finding creative ways to run faster than death. Gods, the fates must hate me." Spencer just chuckled at her. "Then I was in a coma for a six months. Missing for eight. You know the drill. Annabeth found me. We defeated Gaea and I came back home, but not before Annabeth died." Percy had a sad look on her face.
The agents were shocked, to say the least. This girl that refused to talk to them, was spilling her guts to the kid genius as he just sat there and nodded. She sounded kinda crazy. Talking about fates, gods, Gaea, her friend dying.
"Hey, it's gonna be okay. I saw the owl. Pretty impressive. What did you use? Wait, lemme guess. Carbon steel alloy?" He was trying to distract her from the sad memories, and she smiled at the effort.
"C'mon. You really think I used that. You could've at least guessed magnesium alloy. But neither are right. It's a mixture of Celestial Bronze and Imperial Gold." He just nodded in recognition, confusing the agents.
"You showed it a picture of me. It latched onto my shoulder. I couldn't walk out the front door. I had to take the fire escape just so I wouldn't get attacked with questions." She was the one to laugh this time.
"How did you find the bodies?" He asked gently.
"Would you believe me if I said I just got a funny feeling?"
"I've heard weirder from you. Why were you going to Vegas?"
Her eyes widened at the question.
"I had to get away. Everyone I cared about was dying and I couldn't stay and risk it. I wanted to go somewhere I knew. I was going to visit your mom while I was there. I write to her you know. I haven't visited her in ten years." She looked almost dreamy.
"What about summer?" The rest of the team was confused at that. They knew it got hot there, but why was he so worried?
"There's a camp in California. Can I make a call? I haven't gotten my one call yet."
"You aren't a suspect, you can make as many calls as you want."
"That's not what the scary lady said when she came in here." She stuck out her bottom lip.
"Oh, Elle? Don't worry about her. She's just doing her job."
"Alright, I'll try not to." She pulled out a phone and a look of terror came rover Spencer's face.
"Is that safe?" He asked her.
She looked confused before realizing she was holding a phone. "Oh, it's safe. Promise. I would never hurt you. Or your pals behind the glass." She turned to look at the glass. "You guys are really bad at hiding. You're also really bad at eves-dropping. I just hope you know that." She yelled right before more yelling came from the phone.
