The Lies (2K Special)
Thanks for 2K, everybody! Love y'all!♥️ Also, Happy Halloween!🎃
//Your POV//
Jimmy and I stepped into the dark office, leaving Black Hat behind in the hallway.
The office was cold and stuffy, with no chance of getting a getting a glint of light at all.
"Rat? Who is this young women you have brought with you?" A deep voice asked.
'I guess Mr. Hilenberg didn't warn him that I'm here.'
"O-Oh! Good morning, Mista' L/n, who are you-"
"Save it, Grease Trap. Who is the girl?" My father sounded more agitated
"Hi..I'm Y/n...you're kid."
He sounded like he choked, "..my kid??"
"Yeah..With Historia Richards," I spoke Mom's name hoping it would ring a bell.
"Historia..oh my god. Rat. Get out."
"W-Wha-"
"Now."
Jimmy scurried out, most likely joining Black Hat in the hall.
"*sigh* I knew this day would come," Dad huffed.
He switched on a light, revealing his shriveled stature.
He looked much older than he did in the photo, with more mature and chiseled features, though his face remained the exact same.
He wore the kind of suit you'd see in The Sopranos; fancy and sharp.
He opened up a safe that was bolted into the wall and pulled out a large wad of cash, "Here. Now scram."
"No, no, I don't want money," I turned down the money.
"Then what is it you want?" He asked, clearly annoyed by my presence.
"I just..." I sighed, "I just want to talk. That's all I ask."
Dad's eyes burnt through my forehead, but he soon sat down on his chair and waited for me to start speaking.
"I-I have a question," I stuttered, getting nervous in his long, cold stare, "Why did you leave?"
"Simple. I didn't want a kid."
My mouth fell open.
My own deadbeat dad, who I literally just reunited with after 28, soon to be 29, years of my life, just told me to my face that he didn't want me.
He realized my surprise, "No hard feelings. I just didn't really care for that mushy shit. Historia did, so thats why I left."
"That's strange."
"Why?" Brett looked confused.
"Mr. Hilenberg told me that you ask on how I'm doing, and that you care from afar."
"Then he's a dirty liar."
My heart stopped.
More. Fucking. Lies.
"I...I..." I couldn't speak.
"I bet Historia didn't want to see me, and as result didn't join you. Shame. I've honestly missed her," Brett (I could never call him dad now, not after that) shrugged.
"She's..She's.."
"She's what?" He snarled.
"She's dead."
"Oh....Huh. Guess I really was right after all. Being that nice can get killed-"
"FUCK YOU! SHE DIED OF BRAIN CANCER, YOU BASTARD!" I slammed my hands on the desk, "I shouldn't have wasted my time coming all this way. I hope I never see you again."
"Whatever, sweetheart," He rolled his eyes.
"Go fuck yourself!" I yelled as I left the office and slammed the door.
I was furious beyond belief.
It wasn't the fact that he said that shit about me, it was about mom.
That's what it all usually comes down to: mom.
I knew I should've listened to Black Hat, but I was just being too bold and headstrong.
I grabbed Black Hat's hand and pulled him down the hall with me, heading out of that godforsaken place, "Come on. We're leaving."
"What happened in there?? I heard you shouting," Black Hat sounded worried.
I ignored him, but it was impossible to ignore the fact that Jimmy started yelling like madman behind us.
"What the hell did you think you were going?! Are you nuts?! I can't believe you'd do this! You're nothin' but a filthy traitor, ya hear?!" He screamed at the top of his lungs.
"Want me to shut him up?" Black Hat asked.
As much as I was against genocide for no apparent reason, I was pissed and no thinking straight, so I nodded yes.
"Done," He smiled and snapped his fingers, causing me to hear a loud "crack!" noise.
I was about to look behind me when Black Hat pushed me forward, "It's best you don't look there, dear."
I didn't really give a shit about Jimmy, so I obliged.
I didn't give a shit about anything anymore after that.
Black Hat and I left the place and walked all the way back to the parking lot, to find my car.
I found a small dent on the driver door, but I didn't care.
My seatbelt burned against my skin from the sun, but I didn't care.
Once we were both in the car, I slammed my head against the steering wheel, miraculously not setting off the airbag, but instead making the horn make a loud toot.
"Y/n?" Black Hat asked.
I knew that Black Hat could feel my frustration and it was painfully obvious.
"Black Hat..I think I officially hate life."
He didn't know what to say to that, I could tell, "...I don't blame you."
"I just...don't know what to do. Sorry I dragged you into this."
He took my hand and squeezed it tight, "Look at me."
When I turned to him I could see the serious glint in his eye.
"You haven't dragged me into anything, I wanted to be with you. If you don't know what to do, we can figure it out together. How does that sound?"
I felt a tear roll down my cheek, "I'd like that."
Black Hat started to lean in and pulled me closer.
I was confused at first, but when we closed his eyes, I realized what he was doing.
I put my hand in front of his face, "I'm sorry, no."
Black Hat looked surprised and..upset, "Pardon?"
"I can't, Black Hat, Not right now. It just..doesn't feel right," I hugged myself, looking away.
"I apologize. I see now that wasn't appropriate," Black Hat looked away too.
"It's fine, really, Just..not now."
I turned the key in the ignition of my car and we drove off.
In
pure
silence.
