Part 31

To my relief, it was Jays day to pick something to do, and he must be the relaxed one if his ideal choice is a zoo. Yesterday I suppose Zane picked while I was out of the room.

Anyway, we had gotten our tickets and found it increasing difficult to not either

A: jump in the lion pit and let them eat me
B: convince the lions to eat them

And then I realized there was a third option that I could take one and keep it as a pet. I've always wanted a dragon or something, and I've heard rumors the ninja had one. Maybe I could get some free time to investigate.

"Woah! Look that that snake!" Kai and Jay say simultaneously and give each other a look before rushing up to the exhibit while the rest of us follow.

"Copperhead," I mutter and lean on the railing surrounding the glass cage. I did like the animals here, but I hated how they're kept in cages. If you can't see them how they are why would you care to look?

My thoughts are cut short by a loud voice nearly busting my eardrum. "Look! It's coming over!"

I sent a quick glare to Jay who seemed to shrink a little before I turned back to watch it come slowly closer. It slowly inched it's way up the glass before stopping and lifting its head to look at me, as it was directly in front of me.

Everyone was a bit stunned though not surprised. After all, they did still think I was evil. I watched it for a moment and it stared back as if looking into the inner depths of my soul. I cleared my throat and turned. "Moving on," I say and start walking.

Now I understand why they need cages. Even though they may be innocent, the people have power over them. They keep them in cages and show them off to be deadly while feeding them and showing some affection in secret to bend the animals to their will. After all, without the cages, the animal would run wild.

Suddenly I didn't care to be there anymore.
