Chapter 29-dé·jà vu
A/N: This chapter is based off of 1x24 "Performance" from the TV series: Young Justice.
Gotham City-
Dick laid silently in his bed, staring up at his ceiling as his mind was racing.
He shut his eyes to remember standing on the edge of the roof of W.E. (Wayne Enterprise), the cool air flowing around him then the feel of his body falling backwards. But then he suddenly opened his eyes and caught himself before he fell to his death . Dick opened his eyes and gazed around the room. In that moment he felt like he was back on top of that roof top, almost completely going ahead with killing himself but he panicked at the last second and he couldn't do it. Dick sighed and tried to take his mind off the previous evens, which only he knew about. Bruce was clueless that he went to the roof and fell somewhat to his death. Wally was busy and forgot that he called him on the coms. He and Wally haven't spoken in awhile and there was a small bit of pain inside his chest. He needed to think about something else right now because thinking and going down that dark path would lead to nothing good for him...and everyone else.
He had recently got word that Jack Haly was in need of some help. And the first Dick did with this information was go straight to Bruce with it, in hopes that he or rather they could help out the older gentlemen who Dick knew since he was a small child.
But, Bruce refused.
He told Dick that Batman or Robin couldn't be anywhere near the circus or Haly because it would raise suspicion and could lead to a connection between Robin and Dick, and Bruce to Batman. Bruce/Batman wouldn't allow it. He told Dick to not pay any attention to it, to just forget it but Dick couldn't.
He couldn't do it, and how could he. The Haly circus is where he grew up, where he lived with his parents. At a time, Jack Haly was seen as a grandfather figure to Dick. Everything changed that night, the night his parents were killed right before his eyes. He lost his parents, his home, his ability to fly and Mr. Jack Haly himself.
Dick understood Bruce with his reasoning for the whole Batman thing, but why couldn't the two of them go under cover or something. Dick just couldn't sit back and do nothing, he just couldn't. If he did, he felt like he was letting his parents down in someway and that hurt, that hurt a lot.
Soon, an idea popped in his mind and he quickly texted his team to meet at the mount, everyone except for Wally. Aqualad was busy with Aquaman so he wasn't coming along with Dick, just M'gann, Artemis and Conner.
Dick couldn't bring himself to text him. He knew Wally might have been busy, that is what he was going to tell the others but in all honestly, he just didn't want the one person on the team who knew his backstory coming a long. Wally, like always would be completely focused on him and only him and that wasn't what was important here, or anywhere at that matter.
Dick needed to help Haly, he needed to save the circus. He had to.

Mount Justice-
"High advance weapon tech has been stolen" Robin typed upon his wrist computer then pointed at the holo screen before him, pointing at the places where the tech has been stolen from. "Each theft coincides with where The Haly Circus tour stops at." Robin typed.
Just then Roy walked over and stood behind him, Robin looked over his shoulder and sent him a small smile before looking back at the others.
"Batman is sending us undercover to find out what's going on and the catch the thieves'' voiced Robin's wrist computer.
"Can I join?" asked Roy and Robin turned around quickly and stared at him for a moment. Dick hadn't really been around Roy since the last time when Roy called him a joke, (chapter 5 Trust).
Robin shook his head 'no' and quickly typed out on his wrist computer.
"No, it's fine. We got it covered.''
Roy then lean forward to just speak to Robin, trying to prevent the others from hearing him. "You might have the mission covered, but who's covering the 3 possible moles suspects you're bring along?" said Roy and Robin glanced back over at his team mates. He didn't believe any of them could be the mole. He knew all he needed plus more about each and everyone of them and didn't see a reason for them betraying him and the others. He slowly nodded his head, allowing Roy to come along.
The whole trip towards the circus was dreadful for Robin. He sat very still with his eyes held closed as his anxiety levels continued to rise.
He was going back to the circus, back to the place that once was so amazing, to the place where everything was taken from him all at once.
But he couldn't let any of that show, he had to put on his strong mask that he wore too often and pretend like this was an everyday kind of mission, nothing special about it whatsoever. He exhaled and tried to ready himself to being back there, this was being harder than he predicted it would be.
After a few hours, they were on the move again and was going to be preforming for the evening. Robin laid in his bunk, away from everyone else while they walked around and got the lay of the land and saw everything the circus had to offer.
He felt worn out, tired and he didn't even do anything. His whole body ache, along with a slight sharp pain in the back of his head. He was just chucking it up as stress and tried his best to push through it.
The night's events grew closer, him and the team were about to preform.
Robin glanced upwards and closed his eyes tightly for a second, seeing his mother's and father's faces, they light and joy within their eyes and then the fear in them as they fell. He shook his head, trying he hardest to push those memories back as he climbed up.
He had been on high buildings and did amazing jumps while on patrol, but standing up here felt completely different. Fear was lanced within his blood. All he kept hearing was the snap of the rope, the screams from the crowd, his mother's voice and then the sickening cracks of their bodies lying on the ground.
But the show must go on and Dick had to push past his fears, past that night to focus on this mission, to help Mr. Haly and the circus.
Robin and M'gann did a few flips here and there within the air. It felt oddly nice and familiar to him but he was still a little shaken by all of this.
Just as he jumped out, his hands out stretched towards M'gann's, his eyes widen when he noticed it, noticed that he was ending up short. His breath froze within his chest and he saw once again his parents. His mother's arms were out, awaiting for him to jump to her. The smile upon her face soon fell, along with his father's as fear trance within their eyes. They slowly and all of a sudden began to descend downwards, away from him.
"Dick'' said his mom as she then came crashing down to her death along with his father, her husband.
A sharp pain flowed through him, along with sadness.
"ROBIN!" shouted M'gann through the mind link as she broke through to him, as he began to fall from her, heading downwards just like them. He quickly shook his head and looked up at M'gann.
"Don't blow our cover" Robin said through the mind link.
"But saving your life if okay?" said Conner through the mind link as he threw a brawl up towards Robin.
He landed on it as it drove him upwards, close to M'gann, but not close enough.
No, that's what Robin wanted to say, wanted to think at that moment, no it wasn't okay for them to save his life. His life didn't need nor did it deserve to be saved. He should have died along time ago, he didn't need to be here, be alive while they, his parents were dead. It just wasn't fair. He was worthless and they were everything. He sadly wish he would have fallen just now, instead of being saved.
He guessed he would have to figure out another way to end it all.
