"Belle, look at her. She's too weak. It will kill her. We don't even know what the mercury's doing to her. We don't even know if it is actually mercury. This can't be the only way to save her life." Scott said, pointing at the pale Hayden. " It saved mine." Liam spoke up and Scott sighed, shaking his head. "You know, that was different. You were hanging off a ledge."

"You promised. You said you'd do everything you could." Belle said, her voice shaky slightly. "Which is why I'm not going to do something I think is going to kill her." Scott screamed. Hayden gasped for air, making Melanie sit her up higher on her lap.

"There has to be... There has to..." Hayden said in between breaths. Theo sighed, shaking his head at the sophomores before turning to the alpha. "Scott."

"There's another way to save her." Scott said and Theo tilted his head, looking down at Hayden with an 'are you kidding me?' look. "I don't know what the statistics are for surviving a werewolf bite, but she's definitely not surviving this. We need to do something."

Melanie leaned into Liams arms as she leaned on the wall of the clinic, the two watching Melissa treat Hayden. Belle sat on the counter beside them, her leg shaking slightly as she watched Hayden get sicker and sicker.

"What's that?" Melanie asked, invested in what the woman was doing, having always found a love for being a doctor. Noshiko told her it was because of her kitsune powers to heal that she grew to love helping people, but Melanie's always wanted to be a doctor and now, staying at the McCalls, Melissa had been giving the girl little lessons.

Melissa sighed, flicking the syringe in her hand as she walked towards Hayden. "It's called chelation therapy. It removes heavy metals from the blood. But, the problem is, is that can injure the kidneys and Hayden only has one to begin with, so..." Melissa was cut off by Hayden groaning at the shot going in her, making Belle push herself off the wall she was leaning on. "Woah, you're hurting her."

Melissa turned to Belle, giving her a reassuring smile. "It's just like getting your blood drawn, don't worry."

Belle, slightly panicking, felt her claws grow. She quickly pushed her hands into a fist, her claws sinking into her palm as she nodded. Melanie, noticing the blood dripping from Belles hand, sighed, running to the table for disinfectant to clean her hands as she shook her head. "It's the full moon." Scott nodded in agreement with Melanie. "We can feel it even during the day. And it's a Supermoon."

"What is that supposed to make you guys, like super strong? Super aggressive?" Melissa asked and Melanie scoff as she wiped Belles hands. "Both." Melissa raised her brows, turning to Melanie as she gave a sarcastic smile. "Yay me." Melanie mumbled, side eyeing Belle, Liam and Scott.

"It's not working, is it?" Liam mumbled out as he watched Hayden grow paler, barely breathing. Melissa sighed, resting her hands on her hips as she shook her head. "She should be showing signs of improvement."

Hayden slowly reached for Belle's hand, squeezing it tightly, making Belle turn to her. "Hayden?" Belle said and Hayden gasped for air, squeezing Belle's hand tighter. "Call Val... My sister... Valerie."

"She's a deputy." Belle said, turning to Scott who quickly nodded. "I think I might know where she is. Theo just texted me about the high school. He said there's cops everywhere. Might be another Chimera."

"My sister... I don't want to die without my sister." Hayden mumbled and Scott quickly nodded. "I'll get her." Just before he walked out of the room, Melanie quickly stopped him, Liam beside her. "Uh, wait. What are you going to tell her?"

Scott sighed, shrugging his shoulders. "If I have to, I'll tell her everything."

Melanie sat on the counter where Belle was once sitting, Liam beside her as she rested her head on his shoulder, Liam wrapping an arm around her waist to pull her closer. Belle sat on the other side of Mel, holding her hand as her only way of support as Melissa worked on Hayden.

The sound of Melissa sighing made the three teens shoot their heads up. Belle squeezed Melanie's hand tighter as they watched silver creep up Hayden's neck through her veins. "It's on her neck too." Melanie whispered.

Belle shook her head in denial, looking up at the woman. "She's getting worse, isn't she?" Melissa sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Yeah. Which is why we're taking her to the hospital."

Liam's brows furrowed, hopping off the counter. "How's that going to help?" Melissa threw her arms in the air slightly, turning to the teens. "We're in an animal clinic and I need equipment designed for humans. I said that we're going to take her to the hospital. I didn't say we're going through the front door."

"What's happening?" Hayden asked, drifting in and out of sleep but faintly hearing the conversation around her. Belle looked at Hayden sadly, grabbing her hand to squeeze it as she bent down slightly to be at her height on the table. "We're not sure, Hay."

Hayden's eyes softened, squeezing Belles hand as she shook her head. "My sister..." "Scott's out looking for her right now." Liam interrupted. Hayden looked up at Liam nod slowly. Melanie placed her hand on the girls shoulder, rubbing to catch her attention. "He's going to bring her here as soon as he can."

"Over here, yeah." Melissa said as she led Liam, who was carrying Hayden, into the operating room Hayden could stay in as Melanie and Mason, who Liam had called on the way, walked in with the medical supplies they needed. Mason tiredly set the equipment on the table as he looked around the room. "Shouldn't we be talking to one of the doctors?"

Melissa sighed, setting Hayden up to an IV. "I've been wrestling with that for hours. Do we bring them in and watch them treat her as a normal patient, while we stand here knowing that's not going to work? Or do we keep trying everything medically possible to save her, while her body does things that shouldn't be medically possible?"

"Is she dying?" Melanie asked abruptly, never really getting a proper answer from the woman but now that Belle was gone, Melanie was hoping for a real answer. Melissa frowned at Melanie, making the Yukimura girls heart drop. "With the amount of mercury in her body right now, she shouldn't even be alive."

Liam sighed, running a hand through his hair before looking around the room, his eyes squinting at someone missing. Liam turned to Melanie. "Where's Belle?"

Belle slowly stepped into the roof of the school, her eyes bright yellow and her claws out. Apparently, she wasn't quiet considering Scott turned around at her steps, his eyes slightly wide. "Theo let you in." He breathed out.

"Did you lie to me?" Belle asked, her voice breaking slightly and her eyes glowing brighter. Scott immediately shook his head at the girl. "I've never lied to you. Belle, I'd never lie to you!"

"But you won't save her." Belle whispered and Scott felt his heart drop slightly. He had known Belle since he was a sophomore and she was a scared 8th grader attacked by Peter. "I can't save her. At least, not with a bite. If you'd just think about that for a second, Belle. you would know that I'm right."

"I am thinking!" Belle yelled, her voice sounding more sad than angry. "I'm thinking about how Hayden is dying and you have done nothing to help her!"

"Belle, it's the Supermoon. It's feeding your sadness. It's making it more in control." Scott said, taking a step towards her but as soon as he got close to her, Belle made a run for the edge of the roof.

"Belle! No!" Scott screamed, running towards Belle, wrapping an arm around her waist and the other over her shoulders. "Let me go!" Belle screamed, trying to get herself out of Scott hold. Forgetting her claws were still out, Belle went to push Scott off of her and instead slashed his stomach.

Scott groaned in pain, making sure to keep his arms around Belle as she roared to be let free. "She's all I have!" Belle screamed, making Scott shake his head. "No she's not."

"Yes she is! My parents don't give two shits about me and I haven't heard from most of the group since we got back from being kidnapped!" Belle cried and Scott shook his head, looking down at her. "What about Mel? And Liam?"

"They're being all coupley! I can't screw that up for them! Do you know how long it took to get them together?!" Belle cried and Scott held her tighter. "They love you, Belle. Talk to them. Let's just... Let's get you inside." Scott breathed out, holding onto Belle tightly as the girl sobbed.

...

The loud beeping of the EKG made Melanie shoot up from off the ground, running towards Hayden's gurney.

"Oh, no, no, no, no..." Melissa whispered as Hayden breathing grew ragged. Liam and Mason shot up from the floor, running towards the table after Mel. The two boys looked at Hayden with wide eyes as Melanie shook her head. Liam grabbed Melanie's hand, squeezing it as Melissa stuck a syringe into Hayden's arm, making the girl take a deep breath before her breathing went back to normal.

Melissa sighed, looking to the three teens. "I think you better get Belle." "What about Scott?" Melanie asked and Melissa shook her head. "He's not answering. And if Belle wants to be with her, she needs to get here now. Because she's dying, and I don't know what else to do."

Melanie nodded, turning to the two boys. "Go. I will text you if anything changes." Liam and Mason looked at each other before turning back to Melanie, neither of them moving. "Just get her here, Liam. Go." Melanie said and the boys nodded, running out of the hospital.

Hayden gasped for air, reaching for Melanie's hand, making the Yukimura girl turn to her, scooting a chair over closer to Hayden to sit next to her. "Please stay. I need someone to stay." Hayden whispered and Melanie nodded, squeezing her hand. "I'm not leaving."

Hayden nodded, looking up at her. "Can you tell Belle I love her. I haven't gotten to say it yet and... it may be to soon... but I do. And I'm dying." Hayden gasped out and Melanie nodded, feeling her eyes stinging slightly. She slowly nodded, sniffling. "I'll tell her."

Hayden smiled, nodding before a small chuckle escaped her lips. "You know... Liam's not that bad anymore. I think it's because of you." Melanie laughed at Hayden's words, making the Romero girl laugh along.

As Hayden laughed, she let out a loud hysteric cough, worrying Melanie and Melissa. Melanie squeezed Haydens hand. "Hey, hey. You okay?"

Hayden shook her head, catching enough air to say a few more words as she looked up at Melanie. "You're a good friend."

Melanie smiled at her words, squeezing her hand. "You too." Hayden let out a small laugh before her eyes started to fall close. The faint and constant beep of the monitor made Melanie and Melissa know Hayden was gone.

Liam and Mason ran towards the library, Liam not noticing the mountain ash, ran right into it, making him fly back. Liam groaned as Mason looked back and forth between Liam and the mountain ash before breaking the barrier. He quickly helped Liam up and ran into the library, skidding to a stop when they saw Belle crying in Scott's arms.

"Belle!" Liam announced but she didn't hear him over her own cries. "Belle!" Mason said louder but she didn't listen again.

Liam let out a low sigh, running up to Belle and squatting down to sit in front of her, grabbing her hands and moving them off of her face so she'd look at him. "Belle?" Liam asked quietly, making Belle get out of her state slightly. Liam took a deep breath, Belle's eyes still bright yellow.

"Hayden." Liam breathed out, making Belle slowly look up at Liam. Mason looked at her sadly, taking a slow step closer to her, Liam and Scott. "She's gone. Hayden died a few minutes ago."

"She's gone. I'm so sorry." Liam muttered. Belle looked at the boys for a few more seconds before Liam slowly opened his arms, letting Belle into him for a hug.

...

Belle slowly walked into the operating room where Melanie sat with Hayden, still holding her hand. Melanie turned her head at the sound of people walking in and immediately felt her heart drop at Belles slow steps and quiet sniffles as she walked towards her. "Belle..." Melanie whispered once Belle was in whispering distance.

Melanie let out a small hum, wrapping Belle in her arms as the werewolf stuffed her face into Melanie's neck, letting out soft cries. Melanie felt her heart clench at her best friends sadness, running a hand through Belles hair in hopes of comforting her.

"I got you, Belle. I got you."
