A Good Something

After fighting off the hunters, Melanie decided to go home instead of staying at Scott's again, missing the comfort of her own bed while Scott and Kira went on a late night celebratory date.

Considering she got to her home at 1 in the morning, Melanie climbed through her window to get in, not wanting to disturb her parents.

Melanie's room was pitch black, no light on as she climbed into her room. She leaned over to her nightstand that was right by her window. When she turned on the light, she saw someone standing in the middle of the room out of the corner of her eyes.

Melanie yelped, making her katana appear in her hands. She swung her hands back, ready to hit the intruder until they came into the light.

"Don't hit me! Don't hit me!" Liam screamed, shaking his head quickly, making Melanie drop her katana and try to catch her breath. "What the hell, Liam! Its 1am!" Melanie whisper yelled and Liam shook his head, walking towards Melanie. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It just... I keep seeing the berserkers and I just needed someone around. I thought you wouldn't mind me just coming in and waiting until you got here."

Melanie looked at him sadly before nodding. "Um... Yeah." Melanie rubbed her eyes and awkwardly pulled her lips into a line, looking around the room. "Well, you can go and get comfortable or whatever. I'm gonna go and get changed because sleeping in bloody clothing isn't really on my bucke-"

Liam didn't even let her finish, mumbling strings of 'woah' under his breath, looking down at her shirt and immediately noticing the blood and a hole plastered on it. He ran over to her, looking back and forth between her eyes and the blood. "Are you okay?"

Melanie chuckled, nodding her head. "Oh, I'm fine. Just got shot."

Liam gawked at her, looking down into her eyes. "Sh-shot?" Melanie let out a small hum, lifting the edge of her shirt to show where she was once shot, now perfectly healed. "I'm fine. See?" Liam took a deep breath before slowly nodding his head.

Melanie grabbed some pajamas, leaving her room and quickly changing in her bathroom. When she came back in, she saw Liam laying on the floor with his own blanket and pillow on the ground. Melanie looked at him like he was crazy, shaking her head. "What are you doing?"

Liam slowly looked up at her. "Uh, laying down..." Melanie rose her brows, crossing her arms. "And are you comfortable?" Liam huffed at her question. "Not really."

Melanie nodded, kicking his feet as she passed him to get to her bed. "That's what I thought. Get up." Liam face scrunched, turning to Melanie. "What?" Melanie furrowed her brows, pointing at his pillow and blanket. "I'm not letting you sleep on hardwood floors. Get up here. There's room."

Liam slowly gets off the floor, making slow strides to Melanie's bed as if it was dangerous.  Melanie rolled her eyes. "I'm not gonna bite you. Plus, aren't you the werewolf of the two of us?" Liam gave her a 'really' look that Melanie just shrugged at. When he got onto the bed, Melanie turned to him. "You don't shed do you?" Melanie asked jokingly but Liam's face scrunched. "What?" Melanie sighed, rolling her eyes. "It was a wolf joke. Forget it."

She turned around, her back facing Liam as Liam turned to have his back face hers. Melanie closed her eyes in hopes of falling asleep but instead, stayed awake from Liam's muttering.

"It's not real. It's not real. It's not real."

Melanie frowned, looking around her room before her eyes fell on the potted plant she had on her nightstand. She immediately smiled, an idea coming to mind, reaching over to the plant, she rested her hand just above it and closed her eyes.

She imagined the plant growing, getting long enough to wrap itself around her headboard and make way to Liam's side of the bed.

Liam opened his eyes and they immediately grew wide looking at the plant before turning around to face Melanie. "What's that?" Melanie turned around, resting her head on her pillow as she smiled at Liam. "It's Eucalyptus. It takes away negative energy. So you won't see the berserkers anymore."

Liam smiled at Melanie, letting out a breathy laugh. "You are something, Mel."

Melanie chuckled at his words, bringing the blanket higher up as she rolled her eyes. "A good something, I hope." Liam smiled, nodding his head. "Yeah. definitely a good something."

Melanie smiled at his words, closing her eyes to go to sleep but not without feeling a small flutter in her stomach at Liam's words.

...

"Well, this is gold." Belle chuckled out, standing over Melanie and Liam on Melanie's bed, taking a picture of the two who had ended up cuddled into each other. Liams arms wrapped around Melanie's waist, his chest pressed against her back and their legs tangled together.

Liam was the first of the two to wake up, he instantly noticed the position he and Melanie were in and stayed that way. Belle smirked, clearing her throat. Liam looked up, his eyes going wide at Belle, making him let go of Melanie, jumping away from her and went back to his side of the bed. Belle cleared her throat again, making Liam look up at her, instantly rolling his eyes at her smirk. "Not a word."

Belle squinted him, not having time to say anything as Melanie started to wake up. Melanie rubbed her eyes, looking up at Belle and immediately groaning. "Belle, my mom already told you to not stand on my bed."

Belle sighed, sitting down across from Melanie and Liam, Liam acting as if he had just woken up. Belle rolled her eyes at Liam, looking back and forth between the two. "We have early practice today. We gotta go."

Liam groaned, getting off Melanie's bed. "Well, I should probably head home. I need some clothes but I'll see you guys at school." Melanie let out a little hum, nodding her head, making Liam smile. He turned to Belle who had a taunting smirk on her face. Liam quickly glared at her, walking towards Melanie's door.

"Uh... Liam?" Melanie called out, making Liam freeze, turning around to look at her. Melanie pulled her lips into a line, pointing at her window. "You should probably use the window."

Liam quickly nodded his head, mumbling goodbyes to the girls again before climbing out the window.

...

"It's fine, Belle. We just tell Coach Kira might be a little late. She's benched anyway so it won't matter much." Melanie told Belle as they slowly walked into the boys locker room to get to Coachs' office.

Kira hadn't come home that night but Melanie didn't think much of it considering it happened a lot when Kira and Scott had late night dates, Kira just sleeping over at Scott's instead of going home.

"Who shouldn't be late?" Finstocks voice could be heard as the girls turned down one of the aisles of the locker room, running into Stiles and Liam's backs.

"Scott." Liam said making Belle cringe as Melanie cleared her throat. "And Kira."

The boys turned around at Melanie's voice. Sighing that Kira would be late too, Stiles ran a hand down his face, turning back to Coach. "They might be slightly late."

"Slightly late is still late. What are they doing?" Coach asked, turning to Melanie first who threw her hands up in surrender as Stiles cleared his throat. "They're doing something that's going to make them slightly late."

"What could Scott and Kira be doing right now that's more important than playing in the first game?" Coach asked again and Melanie stifled a laugh, pressing her head against the back of Stiles' shoulder so Coach wouldn't hear her. Liam held back a smile, faintly hearing Melanie's laugh. Belle sighed, giving the man a lopsided frown as she shook her head. "Oh, Coach."

...

"They're still not here." Liam mumbled from in between Stiles and Melanie. Stiles sighed, rolling his eyes as he turned to Liam. "Okay, what's really going on? Are you nervous about the full moon?"

Liam pulled his lips into a line, looking up at the moon. Belle, from the other side of Stiles, slowly shook her head. "It's not for another 24 hours."

"Liam, you're gonna be fine. Okay? Just try not to rage out on anyone." Melanie said and Liam nodded, looking at her with concerned eyes. "You're not worried?"

Melanie gave him a small smile, shaking her head. "Nope." Liam sighed, turning to Belle. "Belle, are you-" "Pass." Belle muttered. Liam rolled his eyes, turning to Stiles who sighed. "Okay, I'm mildly concerned. Mildly."

"We're gonna lose without him." Liam mumbled and Melanie nodded in agreement. Stiles turned to the two freshman, shaking his head. "No, we're not. We can be just as good without Scott. Okay? I've been practicing. Let me tell you something. I'm getting good. Really good."

Belle snorted at that, tightening her goalie pads. "Wanna bet on that, Stilinski?" Stiles clenched his jaw, turning to Belle and squinting. "You're on, Parker."

...

Not even five minutes into the game, Stiles had managed to mess up in every way possible. Melanie sighed as a group of Devenford kids rammed into Stiles, knocking him to the ground.

Melanie ran up to Stiles, sticking her arm out to help him up as Liam ran up to them. "Yeah. I'm gonna call Scott again."

Belle let out a loud whistle from the goal and Stiles sighed. "And I'll give you 10 bucks when the games over." Stiles muttered, knowing Belle could hear him. She smiled, throwing a thumbs up in the air as the referee blew his whistle, making the game pause.

Stiles ran to his gym bag, calling Scott while Melanie called Kira. After calling four times and getting no response, Melanie turned to Stiles, shaking her head as Stiles did the same. The two sighed, walking over to the bleachers beside Belle and Liam. "All right. Neither of them are answering." Stiles mumbled before shaking his head. "I gotta go see what's going on."

Stiles stood up and Melanie instantly froze. "You're leaving? What are we going to tell Coach?"

Stiles let out a dry chuckle, patting Melanie's shoulder as he shook his head. "Uh, you don't tell him anything. Okay?"

Stiles turned to Belle and Liam, noticing the boys worried look. Stiles sighed. "Liam, you're gonna be okay. All right? If you're worried, Mel and Belle are here." Liam clenched his jaw, looking up to Stiles and nodded, making Stiles nod, giving the three one last look before leaving with his dad.

Melanie sighed, putting on her helmet as she turned to Belle. "We gotta at least try to win." Belle tilted her head to the side, sucking in a breath of air. "To trying?" Belle made a fist for Melanie to fist bump. Melanie chuckled, fist bumping Belle. "To trying."

...

Beacon Hills did not win the game against Devenford Prep.

Melanie and Belle were in the locker rooms; Belle lying down on her back on one of the benches while Melanie was changing back into her normal clothes when Belle's phone rang.

Belle groaned, placing her lacrosse glove over her eyes as she mindlessly tossed her phone to Melanie who yelped, not expecting her to throw her phone but caught it anyway.

Melanie tensed at Stiles' name popping up on the phone, she quickly answered. "Is everything okay?"

Belle rose her brows at Melanie, lifting the glove off her face as she listened in on the call. "Scott and Kira are in Mexico." Stiles quickly said, making Belle's jaw drop. "Damn, they left us for Mexico again?"

Stiles rolled his eyes, faintly hearing Belles voice. "Kidnapped Belle. They were kidnapped." Belle winced at the words as Melanie froze. "We're coming to pick you guys up and then I'm gonna drop you guys off at Mel's house to get something with Kira's scent and then we'll meet back up at Scott's. Got it?"

"Got it." Melanie nodded and Stiles quickly hung up. Melanie turned to Belle who started to sit up. "Ready to go?" Melanie asked and Belle immediately nodded.

But neither of them realized a certain beta with anger issues was listening in on them from outside of the locker rooms and would follow them.
