81. You Move To Canada
A/n: Okay so I know that not everyone is from America but I needed an example and I'm from America so I put that in there. Okay, let's begin!
My boyfriend of two years, singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes, was coming by my place. I live with my mom and my brother in America, and Shawn was in New York City for a few days, so he came over to Boston afterwards to come and see me. He soon pulled up to the house and I rushed out to greet him.
"Hi baby boy!" I yelled. He laughed and smiled as he got out of his jeep and ran over to me.
"Hi baby girl." He said.
"I've missed you." I said. He hummed as he hugged me.
"I've missed you too honey. Do you mind if I talk to your mom before we spend time together please?" He said and asked.
"Sure, is everything okay?" I asked. He nodded.
"Yeah, just wanted to talk to her about something." He said. I nodded.
"Okay, I'll meet you in the basement." I said.
"Okay baby." I said, and with that, we went inside.
Shawn's point of view
My girlfriend Y/n just went downstairs. Her mom was in the living room, so I went and talked to her.
"Hey Y/m/n." I said.
"Hey Shawn, everything okay? You seem nervous." She asked and said.
"Yeah, I just, well, I was wondering, is it okay if Y/n moves in with me if she would like? She could transfer her studies to the University of Toronto or some other school if she wanted." I asked and said. She thought for a moment before nodding.
"Okay. I think that she'll say yes. I can't say I'm one hundred percent positive though. She would probably be nervous about it." Y/m/n said. I nodded.
"Okay. I'm going to go ask her." I said.
"Good luck." Y/m/n said.
"Thank you." I said with a smile.
Your point of view
Shawn walked down the stairs of the basement and smiled at me, yet he seemed nervous.
"You okay baby?" I asked.
"Well I wanted to ask you something and I don't know how you're going to respond." He said.
"It's okay honey, you can ask me anything." I said with a smile. He nodded.
"Well, you like my place, right?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yeah, I love your place." I said.
"Do you like Toronto?" He asked.
"I do. Not as much as I like Boston, but yes." I said with a giggle.
"Do you think that you like my place and Toronto enough that you'd like to move in with me?" He asked. My jaw dropped.
"Wait, are you asking me to move in with you?" I asked. He nodded.
"Yeah. What do you think?" He said and asked. I thought for a moment.
"I mean, it would be a big change but I would do anything for you." I said with a smile.
"I don't want you to feel like you have to do this, it's completely up to you." He said. I nodded.
"I know. Wait, where would I study?" I asked.
"There's a bunch of places that take American students. You can study at the University of Toronto. They have a great psychology program in downtown Toronto." He said. I nodded and played with my fingers, a nervous habit I have. He took my hands in his. "You don't have to do this. I want you to be comfortable."
"I know. I want to do this. This is a big step for us but I know that we're ready, and I know that if I get nervous, well, when I get nervous, you're going to be right there." I said. Shawn smiled at me and kissed my forehead.
"So is that a yes?" He asked.
"Yes! That's a big fat yes!" I said with a laugh.
"Good. I love you darling." He said.
"I love you too. I'll just finish up this semester and then I'll move up, okay handsome?" I asked.
"You want to move in the winter?" He asked.
"I want to move whenever you think is best." I said. Shawn thought for a moment.
"I think that you should wait until summer. Is that okay my love?" He said and asked. I nodded and kissed his cheek.
"Yup. We should tell my mom that I'm moving." I said with a laugh. Shawn nodded. We went upstairs.
"Hey guys." She said.
"Guess what!" I said.
"What?" She asked.
"At the end of the school year I'm moving in with Shawn in Toronto!" I said with a smile. She teared up.
"Good! I'm really happy for you. Just promise to come and visit, okay?" She asked. I nodded my head violently.
"Of course." I said.
Seven months later
Today is the day that I move in with my boyfriend of now three years, Shawn Mendes. I'm from America but I'm moving into his place in Toronto. I've already been accepted in the University of Toronto's psychology program, so I'm really excited. It was so hard to say goodbye to my friends and family, but Shawn was right there with me the whole time. I'm so grateful for him.
"Ready to see our place babe?" Shawn asked as we were about to walk into what I still considered to be his place. I nodded.
"I've seen it before Shawny." I said with a laugh.
"I know, but now it's not just mine, it's ours." He said. I smiled and nodded. We walked in and Shawn and I moved my stuff in and unpacked.
"There, I'm all settled in." I said. A picture of the two of us was sitting on my side of the bed. My clothes were in the dressers. Shawn wrapped his arms around me from behind and kissed my cheek.
"I'm so happy honey." Shawn said.
"Me too babe, me too." I said.
"Now, how about we nap?" Shawn asked. I nodded.
"That sounds perfect my love." I said.
"Can you believe that this is our bed in our place? This is amazing." Shawn asked and said. I laughed.
"It is. Come on baby, I'm tired." I said. Shawn and I napped for a good few hours. I woke up before Shawn did.
It was like a wave of nervousness and anxiety hit me. I slowly got out of bed, went into the other room, and called my mom.
"Hi honey, how is it?" She asked. I started to cry. "What's wrong?" She asked.
"What if I can't handle living here?" I asked.
"I think that you can handle it and obviously Shawn thought so too. Where is he?" She asked.
"We were just taking a nap and then I woke up and got nervous. Should I wake him up? He can always get me to calm down." I said.
"Then wake him up. He won't be mad at you for waking him up. He'll understand." My mom said.
"Okay, um, I'm going to go wake him up." I said, wiping tears away.
"Okay honey, I love you." She said.
"I love you too." I said, and with that, we hung up. I went back into what was now mine and Shawn's bedroom, and saw Shawn sleeping peacefully. Should I wake him up? How? I got on the bed and shook him lightly.
"Huh? What's up?" Shawn asked as he rubbed the tiredness out of his eyes.
"Can we talk?" I asked. Shawn sat up and looked concerned.
"Yeah of course. What's up baby? Why is my love crying?" He asked.
"What if I can't handle living here? What if I can't do it?" I asked as I sobbed. Shawn wrapped his arms around me and rocked me back and forth, calming me down.
"I believe in you baby, and if you ever change your mind for some reason, and want to move back home, I'll totally understand and I won't be hurt." Shawn said.
"But I want to live with you and go to the University of Toronto but this is just such a big change. What if I don't make any friends?" I asked. Shawn smiled.
"Oh my love, I know that you're going to make so many great friends." Shawn said.
"You really think so?" I asked, by now I had stopped crying.
"Honey, I know so." Shawn said. I nodded.
"You can always take my fears away. Thank you for that Shawn." I said. Shawn rested his forehead against mine.
"You're welcome Y/n. Anytime, even if I'm on the road, okay?" He said and asked. I nodded.
"Okay. Can we cuddle on the couch or do you want to finish your nap?" I asked.
"Cuddle on the couch. I can sleep later." He said.
"Sorry I woke you up." I said with a frown.
"It's okay love. You were scared." He said. I nodded as he took my hand. I felt sparks shoot through me yet I felt safe and warm at the same time. It was the feeling of being safe in Shawn's hands that made me know that everything was going to be alright. As long as I have Shawn, I'm safe and happy. I know I'll love it here in Toronto.
