Chapter 4

A/N:
In the previous chapter, I completely forgot that Chat thinks it is Ladybug who got akumatized. The point of him not connecting the dots still stands and I will fix it soon but I will refer to Princess Justice in this chapter as Ladybug. Sorry about this.
Also, sorry about the late update. I was in a camp and had less time than I expected.

Chat Noir and Skarabella were staring down an akumatized Ladybug. Chat couldn't tear his eyes away knowing it was his fault that his lady ended up in the situation they were in. Bunnyx took the other heroes to Shadow Moth. He didn't need to beat him, he just needed to keep her occupied long enough for the other team to win.

It was easier said than done. They knew virtually nothing about why she was akumatized or what her power was. Her outfit caught his eye, as he noticed that most of it was black and white. Yin and yang. They were supposed to be that but she was never supposed to turn bad. He wanted desperately to talk her down, but he knew it was impossible with what happened earlier.

"Well, my power only works on real humans so we will see in due time," Princess Justice said drawing Chat out of his thoughts. He watched as the villainess released some kind of shockwave.

"What do we do now?" Chat looked at Skarabella, not sure what the power did other than reveal them as real humans.

"We give it our all" Skarabella smiled at Chat before turning to the akumatized Ladybug. "For Marinette"

Chat looked back towards his lady. His princess. He only now realized that he had fallen for the same person twice. He couldn't help but release a smile toward the girl "Of course, it's you, Princess," He thought as he watched the life return to Marinette's eyes.

As Skarabella said her name, Princess justice flinched, feeling warmer inside for a moment. Her eyes caught a glimpse of Chat's reaction and she could feel the strength return to her. That is until the akuma gripped her guilt tighter trying to stay in control. Her eyes went cold and froze as she saw a vision of Chat blanc disappearing in purple goo. She couldn't risk it.

Chat and Skarabella charged as they saw the fight in their friend's eyes. Skarabella tried to use her yo-yo to tie Princess Justice up, but as she spun it around her hand slipped and the weapon flew in a different direction. Chat in the meantime stumbled on a rock that he didn't even see before on the ground ad crashed right into Skarabella's yo-yo. "Misfortune. Of course" he rolled his eyes with a smile, standing up.

Chat sat up and slowly untangled the string of the yo-yo. Skarabella was somewhat shocked but as Chat finished she also regained her footing. The two of them looked toward Princess Justice. Chat had a sneaking suspicion that he only saw half her power and not the entire reason for her behavior. Something in her eyes just stung him the wrong way.

"I'm doing this for you Adrien, don't you see?" Justice asked taking a step closer to the still-sitting cat. The boy cringed at the mention of his name. "All I need is your Miraculous and mine. And I can make sure you're safe." Chat looked puzzled. There was a sense of realization in Princess Justice's voice.

Marinette closed her eyes for a brief moment after talking. She remembered the words all too well but now she had to use them. All of her senses were dimmed as if a thick fog covered her. She was aware of her surroundings but she didn't see them for what it was. She was also acutely aware of the lingering threat of Shadow moth which made it that much harder to fight.

"I need you to release a city-wide bad luck wave" the villain yelled into her head. Not knowing how to react she opened her eyes and looked toward Chat Noir.

Chat's heart sank as he caught Justice's eyes. Their gold became a messy mixture between blue and brown and he could see tears glistening in them. She had no idea but he knew he forgot the most important thing. His hand found its way to his pocket and the action seemingly caused physical pain to the akumatized villain in front of him.

He straightened his back, pulling his lips into a slight smile as he let a few tears escape his eyes. He would be fine, he knew that. He had to make sure Marinette would be too. His head completely clear, he waited until Marinette was looking at him. Nothing mattered now, but to make sure his lady knows that he was at peace.

"It's okay Marinette" he whispered when Marinette lifted her head. "I know you don't mean any harm. Just always remember that I love you and always will. No matter what Bugaboo, it's you and me against the world."

Right as he finished a sharp pain ran through his body. Starting in his legs, and ending up in his head like a jolt it ran up and down his spine ultimately banging against his skull. He didn't see what happened around him as the pain became worse by the minute. After what felt like hours it ended but his head was still too heavy to really move.

A shockwave hit him and he forced his eyes open. Princess Justice was kneeling on the ground in front of him. Her tears pooling up before her, she didn't look up from her sobbing. Chat heard the distinct zipping sound of the yo-yo getting closer and closer to him as he tried to stand up to get closer to his lady. He felt a sharp pain as the yo-yo hit his right pocket effectively knocking him down once more. His senses didn't work anymore and he knew it was over. The moment stretched out but not long enough for him to say anything.

As quickly as the pain came, it disappeared and he was no longer amongst the living. He opened his eyes when he realized that he was still conscious. The bright sunlight forced him to shut his eyes once more, before opening them more carefully. He was in the middle of a valley and he wasn't alone.

Princess Justice heard the pang of the yo-yo hitting leather and soon the clinking of a ring hitting the ground. Her breath hitched as her eyes flung open, only to see that her power has done the worst. Her previously hazy mind turned clear in an instant, long enough for her to register what happened, before falling into an unthinking, dark rage.

She stood up restoring the luck of everyone in the city. She made sure to release an extra luck wave too. Her deal with Shadow Moth was broken, shattered like the chains that were holding her down. Shattered like the ring holding Adrien's life.

"Where is he" her low voice hit growl levels.

"I'm sorry Marinette, I was trying to..." Marinette didn't let Skarabella finish.

"Where is Gabriel?" she clarified

"Marinette, I don't think this is a good idea," Skarabella said worry dripping from every single word.

"Ladybug, please think about what Adrien would want" Plagg tried to calm the rage-filled girl, with even less success than Alya.

"What Adrien would want?" she asked her voice rising. "He wanted to live a normal life!" she yelled. "You hear that Gabriel?!" looking up at the sky, she made contact with Shadow moth. "You made me kill him and now I'm coming for you" she could tell Gabriel was scared. The thought of that put a smile on her face. A grin of pure revenge.

"Marinette, we might be able to fix this" Alya called on the lucky charm. "Miraculous, Skarabella!" she threw the object in the air not waiting for Marinette's response.

The girl watched as the magic ladybugs ran over the shattered ring. They fixed it but nothing else happened. The Ladybug powers couldn't put the amok back to its place. Shadow moth didn't waste any time in de-akumatizing her, which meant that she remembered. She remembered everything. And she swore to kill Gabriel once she found him.

"And I have a pretty good idea where to start" she hauled the two rings up, putting both of them on. Plagg still tried to talk her down but Marinette transformed and headed for the Agreste mansion.
