POV 3rd person

As the years have passed the Kingdom of Arendelle has been growing and been wealthy. It was once ruled by Queen Elsa but then the throne passed to Queen Anna and King Kristoff. Years later King Kristoff is ruling Arendelle alone after his wife died. Without heir to throne he has been pushed into a corner. He knows that his only option lays in Prince Jackson, the only person in Frost family who hasn’t taken the responsibilities of a Guardian.

King Kristoff feels the age pressing on his shoulders, now is the time to ask straight. Will Jackson rule or not? He is also concerned about Southern Isles. The son of Hans, duke who carries the name Ruben is now rising in social status.

Duke Ruben is just few years younger than Jackson, and at the age of 50 he has his mind poisoned by his father. There are rumors that he was the one who has been slowly murdering his relatives from the shadows to get his place as the King of Southern Isles. The possibility of war is at hand and Kristoff himself is too old to defend Arendelle. Jackson may be almost 58 years old but Kristoff knows that he has the heart of a young man as well as body. With right choice they would have a new king of rightness.

The carriages are taking King Kristoff towards Jackson’s glass shop. This time he doesn’t have time to ask things from his parents beforehand. He has been told that he might not have that long to live anymore, he knows it even by himself. His heart has been beating unevenly and slowing down every day. He looks at the mirror on the inside of the carriage and a face of old man stares at him back. He smiles to his reflection, never did he know as an orphan boy who loved ice about the destiny he had.

Kristoff remembered with warmth the day when he met his fierce and big hearted wife. He remembered the days which he spent with his family. He was once an orphan but was adopted by trolls, then he had an own family. Hell, he even has some Guardians in his bloodline. Life has treated him well.

“We are here, your highness,” the carriage driver comes to open the door and Kristoff steps out. His legs are aching when he goes down the two stairs of the carriage. He looks around him, the streets are now empty at this time in the night. He straightens his back as much as he can when he limped to the “Frosty Glass Designs,” shop. He knocked the door and waited.

When the door opened he saw the image of his brother in law at the door. “Hello Jackson,” Kristoff smiled when he was staring at the son of Jack Frost, the Guardian of Fun and the Winter Spirit. “Hello uncle!” Jackson smirked and suggested Kristoff to follow him inside. Jackson always had a playful spark in his brown eyes and his hair was as messy as his fathers, even though he dressed neatly and wore shoes.

“What brought you here?” Jackson asked while he easily jumped up and sat on counter. His hair was covering his forehead when he leaned on his hand. With one single wave Jackson made the wind bring a chair to Kristoff to sit from his bedroom. “Thank you, Jackson,” Kristoff smiled and sat down.

After a moment of silence and Jackson’s wondering looks Kristoff finally spoke. “It is time Jackie. You have to choose if you will be the King or the Guardian,” Kristoff said. He didn’t try to say it more prettier than it is. He just needed to know. Jackson gulped and stared at the floor.

Kristoff waited but was soon disappointed when Jackson whispered, “I have tried. You better leave.” Kristoff stood up gracefully and didn’t say a word when he left. On the inside his heart was aching.

Jackson was feeling stunned after Kristoff left. He made an image of himself from ice and threw it on the wall. He hated himself. He hated everything he was and wasn’t.

The wind blasted Jackson’s shop door open and when he realized that he gritted his teeth and clenched his hands to fist. This time he will force the moon make him what he wants to be.

Jackson pulls his jacket from the nail and storms outside, he walks angrily towards the outside area of the town. Moon will listen to him this time is all what is on his mind. He will be a guardian. The ground is freezing behind of him to a trail. The houses are frosting from their outsides. Jackson doesn’t notice the things that are happening around him. He doesn’t care, he is too angry.

“Mmh.. w-why is it so c-cold,” Fern shivers on her bed when she woke up in a blast sound. She rubs her eyes and then she sees frost covering her window. The nights have gotten chilly again, she thinks while she goes to close her curtains.

Fern sees someone walking outside and she narrows her eyes. “Jackson?” Fern whispers and runs downstairs and grabs her coat. Even when winter was supposed to end soon the weather seems different in her mind. She runs after Jackson who has gotten far away by now.

Jackson stops on a small hill outside the town. He looks around him and he is panting, tears run on his cheeks. “WHY! Let me choose already! Speak to me! MANNY!” Jackson screams to air while he stares at the moon. No respond and he falls to his knees, he covers his face to his hands and cries silently.

Jackson,” a voice speaks to Jackson who lifts his head. “Y-you’re M-Manny?” Jackson gulped and stood up. “I am, what is your decision?” Manny asks from Jackson who laughs now happily. The day has come finally, so many years later. “Choose wisely, Jackson,” Manny says in deep whisper like voice. Jackson knew what he would choose, he had wished for it for all of his life.

When Jackson was about to say his choice a voice reached to him. “JACKSON! W-why are you in the c-cold?” Jackson turned around and he saw a girl walking towards him. She was shivering and from time to time she sank to deep snow and stood up. “Fern?” Jackson whispered and his heart beat painfully. His friend.

He watched her emerald green eyes when she reached him. “Earth to Jackson?” Fern waved her hand in front of his face. Jackson didn’t react. The consequences of his decision were flashing in front of his eyes. How he would witness Fern graduating, getting married, having children and living a life. Until she dies. And he would live for eternity.

Jackson’s eyes were twitching nervously and his heart aching. Then he calmed down when Fern touched his hand. “Jackson? Are you all right?” Fern asked with concern in her. She was worried about her friend who didn’t speak but seemed hurt and lost. Then she saw him smiling.

With couple easy moves Jackson took out his jacket and he placed it on top of Fern who was still shivering from the cold. “Go before me, I will come right after you,” Jackson said warmly and Fern nodded in gratitude. She felt cold and moving made her feel a bit warmer.

Jackson waited until Fern was at safe distance. Then he spoke, “Manny?” Jackson waited anxiously for response. “Your decision Jackson Frost?” Jackson inhaled deeply. “I chose to be.. be.. I want to be a mortal,” Jackson whispered. The Man in the Moon sounded like laughing. A beam of blue light quickly hit on Jackson and he felt exhausted for a moment. Soon the feeling changed.

Jackson looked at his hands. “Jackson.. You are a Guardian,” Manny spoke. “No!!” Jackson half yelled and quickly glanced over his shoulder. Fern didn’t hear him for his relief. “I said that I want to be mortal!” Jackson cried. “You are,” Manny said and Jackson raised his eyebrows in misbelieve.

You are now the Guardian of Believe but you are different. You will live as a mortal and die when your time comes. However being the Guardian of Believe, it is your legacy. Your oldest child will inherit your powers when he or she is born and then his or hers fate is to be the new Guardian of Believe after your death. Then his or her oldest child has the same fate, “ Manny spoke with warmth and Jackson rubbed his neck in confusion. “W-what does that mean? Being Guardian of Believe?” Jackson whispered. “You will figure it out, welcome to Guardians,” Manny spoke and it was quiet after.

“Jackson! C-come already!” Fern yelled and Jackson remembered her again. He run after her and smiled, now the decision has been made. Fern smiles to Jackson while they walked back to town and Jackson wished her goodnight at her front door.

Jackson glanced at the castle and he sighed. He kneeled down and when his hand touched the ground he kicked himself up in the air. He flew fast to castle and inside from  Kristoff’s bedroom window.

Kristoff couldn’t sleep. He felt uncertain about the fate of the Kingdom of Arendelle which he loved so much. Jackson knocked the window and Kristoff turned around. With a sly smirk Jackson went inside, “Uncle.. The decision has been made.. I am mortal,” Jackson smiled and Kristoff laughed. “And being the King?” Kristoff said with a wish for a future to Arendelle.

“My heart belongs here uncle, I will take my responsibility,” Jackson said with royal tone in his voice. Kristoff run to hug him. “A WEEK!” Kristoff laughed and Jackson backed up. “A week?” Jackson whispered and cocked his eyebrow.

“The coronation, I will give you the throne,” Kristoff smiled and Jackson gulped. Jackson didn’t expect it to happen this fast but he nodded and smiled. His life was about to change.
