Chapter {(4)} Reveal

Annabeth froze as Sally walked in with... Mr. Blofis.

"I'm... Um..." Percy attempted.

"Why are you covered in flour?" Sally cried.

Annabeth blew out through her lips, "You think I'm covered in flour? Go look at the kitchen,"

Percy threw up his arms in exasperation. Annabeth shot him an apologetic look. He rolled his eyes and mouthed I'll get you for that. Annabeth smirked and winked at him.

"Did you guys at least finish your... essay?" Sally asked, exiting the kitchen.

Percy bit his lip, "We have the information for it..."

Mr. Blofis stood in silence.

"Good enough," Sally sighed, "Annabeth dear, it's getting late you should probably get home. Meanwhile, I have to give Percy his punishment."

Percy looked at Annabeth desperately, but she just winked and grabbed her bag. "Thank you for having me, Sally. It was... fun."

With that, she left Percy standing there, dumbfounded.

Annabeth pushed the door to her house open, biting her lip. All she could do was hope Luke wasn't visiting.

"Annabeth!" two voices yelled simultaneously.

"Matt! B!" Annabeth exclaimed as her half-brothers embraced her. She ruffled their hair and pulled away.

"How was your day?" she asked, smiling.

"Great! Mom bought us new toys!" Matthew exclaimed.

"Yeah!" Bobby nodded his head vigorously.

"That's good." Annabeth said quietly.

"What's wrong, Annie?" Matt asked sadly.

"Nothing, Matt." Annabeth smiled at her brother again.

"Okay!" he cried happily.

"Matt! Let's go play!" Bobby yelled.

Matthew and Bobby then ran off to their room, grinning hugely. Annabeth smiled to herself and trudged upstairs, ready for a good nights sleep.

~

Annabeth woke up with a minor headache. She blew her hair out of her face and hopped out of bed lazily. She slipped her feet into her slippers and grabbed her phone. She had a text from Percy.

Hey Wise Girl ;D Need a ride? And I need to talk to you about the assignment? Yeah and wanna go to the beach with me and my cousin, Thalia, later?

-Percy :P

Annabeth sighed and typed in a response.

Naw, I'll take the bus. And we have a week to do the assignment, but sure. And I'd have to ask. My mom might be visiting... I'm not sure. I might have to be home today. But it would be fun to meet your cousin ;)

-Annabeth

She bounded to the bathroom to check her appearance. Her hair was a rats nest, without a doubt. Annabeth ran a brush through her hair before tossing it into a messy ponytail. She glanced at the clock on her wall.

7:13.

Crap. The bus would be here in less than five minutes.

Annabeth tossed on an outfit, which unfortunately was some old ripped jeans and a red tanktop. She put on a thin layer of mascara and lipgloss and ran downstairs, grabbing a granola bar on the way. She pulled her backpack over her shoulder and ran out the door.

The bus was just pulling up when she made it to the stop. Annabeth sighed in relief and boarded the bus, still unaware of her overly casual outfit.

~

Percy joined her as she walked in the doors of the school.

"So, Miss Chase does have a casual side." he commented, obviously perplexed.

Annabeth shot him a sideways glance, "What?"

Percy smirked, "Have you looked at your outfit?"

Annabeth looked down and cursed. Her outfit was not going to make her friends happy.

"Anyways," Annabeth was strangely desperate to change the subject.

"I like it."

Annabeth looked at Percy, shocked.

"What?" she asked.

"I like the casual look. It's cute." Percy shrugged.

Annabeth blinked, "Thanks."

"Didn't take an effort. I need to get to class," he winked at her, "See you, Wise Girl."

"Bye, Percy."

~

Annabeth waited for Percy by his locker, smirking at her friends who shot her weird looks. She leaned against his locker, kicking the tiled floor.

"What's up, Wise Girl?"

Annabeth looked up at Percy, "Nothing much, Seaweed Brain."

Percy grinned, "Seaweed Brain?"

"Well, you quite obviously enjoy swimming and the ocean and stuff, so seaweed. And well, you're kind of stupid, so I have a theory that your head is full of seaweed. Therefore, Seaweed Brain." Annabeth said triumphantly.

Percy nodded slowly, "I'm going to ignore the fact that you just called me stupid, and accept that nickname."

"Didn't have a choice, Seaweed Brain."

Percy smiled, "Our nickname literally classify us as opposites."

Annabeth cocked her head at him as he opened his locker, "I mean Seaweed Brain, in my case, means stupid so.... And Wise Girl, in your case, means smart. Smart and stupid are antonyms... or is it acronyms..."

Annabeth rolled her eyes, "It's an antonym, Percy."

Percy nodded, "That's what I thought."

"Sure," Annabeth muttered.

Percy grinned at her and closed his locker after pulling a geography book from one of the already clustered shelves, "Shall we?" he held out his arm.

Annabeth wrinkled her nose but linked her arm with his anyway. They walked to their classes with linked arms, laughing the entire time.

~

When Percy and Annabeth had to release each other to go to their separate classes, Annabeth quickly began to miss his touch.

Annabeth's eyes widened and she hurried into the math room, determined to get her brain out of the gutter.

~

When Annabeth left class, she was immediately confronted by Drew, Lacey following her like a lost puppy.

"So, Annie. I see you've taken an interest in boy next door." Drew hissed.

Annabeth rolled her eyes, "He wishes,"

"I bet he does," Drew smirked, tossing her slick hair over her shoulder.

Annabeth sighed, "What do you want?"

"Lay off of him. Wait for Rachel to come back from Florida," she snarled.

"Rachel doesn't have a chance. His 'dream girl' is smart, Drew. Rachel is probably the farthest from it." Annabeth smirked.

Drew smiled icily, "So... I guess you're his dream girl."

Annabeth heart slammed against her ribs, "Oh please-"

"We all know you, Annie. We know you've been lying. Jackson is too oblivious to think of you as anything other than a popular snob. Though, of course, you could just come clean, and you won't have to be revealed by your enemy. Me."

Drew twirled around and strutted off, and Lacey shot an apologetic look before hurrying after her.
