Thoughts:

After reading the first two books in this series, it kind of shocked me how vastly different book three is. Gone is Wren, someone who was built up to be a major character for the first two books. She's just. Gone. Only mentioned in passing anymore.

It's very, very weird. I feel like there was still more to her adventure - and I can't believe I'm saying this, because actually I hated her.

Speaking of hating people, Rannok. I promised myself no matter what I would cling to my hatred of him because I'm that petty. I absolutely am. And maybe it's because 60% of this book was from his perspective or... something but... I don't hate him anymore. This is probably the most shocking revelation of my life, honestly. Someone I've spent so much time hating, as a character, I don't hate anymore.

So uh, good job Vi with that character development.

Know whose character I wasn't too sure about, though? Erean.

Sasha is a new character and gets a ton of development, and is almost enough to make up for the lack of the original cast. Meanwhile, while Erean is here and of course has development of his own... I don't understand what he's doing here. I know why he's going to the crow's nest, sure, but I don't understand why he's adventuring with these people. Why is he here? I don't know. This confusion made it harder for me to feel much for him, so by the time *ahem* certain events happen, I don't.... feel that bad for him? I do in a sense but not as much as I know I should.

In other aspects, this book is good but not great yet. It has a lot of the staples of a first draft. That isn't a bad thing, it just clearly needs revisions. 

As a final note, in terms of plot, I'm a little curious why the crow really wanted to go to the nest in the first place? I know why it lured everyone there, but why did it want to go there, and why did everyone need to face their trauma in this place?

I guess I just. Had a lot of questions here.
