THE FAMILY all stood together by the tree of souls watching as Jake gives his power to Tarsem, tears prickled at her eyes watching as the guy who raised her mostly give his power, his heart as Tarsem cut Jake. Tears started to flow not stopping, she didn't want to leave, but she had too, she couldn't leave her family, the ones who raised her.
Neteyam side-hugged Elyä as she cried, Jake held in his tears the family all walking away from their home, the one place that kept them safe but grief had to leave eventually, and that's what she is leaving, everything she had ever known.
The sound of Neytiri cries made Elyä's slowly stop wanting to hold her second mother tightly and mumble that everything will be okay even when it wasn't.
The wind bashed into her ears as she flew on her ikran, tears slowly drying on her face the beautiful scenery she has grown and loved for so long disappearing from view.
Elyä looked back at the forest one last time not knowing when she will be back.
Neteyam looked at her keeping his calm feeling the grief of leaving his home but he was alive and with his family, that's all that mattered.
They flew through harsh conditions to get to the reef the sight of clear oceans and jagged rocks and terrain, their new home.
The family circled around the clan on their ikran landing on the empty sand, she settled Eutalli down usually used to attacking new people and fighting, her Ikran was confused by the peace.
"Settle Euralli settle," she mumbled patting her glancing at the Metkayina that crowded them.
She followed behind Neteyam gripping his arm probably making marks from how tight Elyä was holding onto him, "hey it's gonna be okay," he whispered to the warrior patting her scarred hands.
"You promise?" The teenager asked holding his hand now, calming down slowly.
"I promise to the moon and the stars El," he told her squeezing her hand trying to be calm also his face echoing the tiredness he feels from that long trip.
The clan crowded around them glancing at them all, She bowed her head at the sight of the clan leaders son giving her respect to him.
Neteyam followed after her but when the teenager didn't do it back they both looked at each other for a split second before looking away back at the boys crowding them, Ao'nung started grabbing at the oldest son of Jake's tail making the family look at him annoyed.
"Look, what is that?" The shorter fish guy asked, "is that supposed to be a tail?" The clan laughed Lo'ak and Neteyam glanced at them judging them slightly.
"Elyä don't," the boy whispered to the girl still holding onto Neteyam's hand, "I want to hit him though," she replied glancing at him.
Lo'ak stared at the ethereal girl who stepped out the water, he quickly looked away as the two boys continued to make fun of them, "how are they supposed to swim?" The guy with the curly hair asked as she slapped him telling him to stop.
"Hey," the youngest sully boy said making her look down smiling, "ooh Lo'ak got a crush," Elyä whispered to him grinning.
An animal flew above them causing the kids to look up at the chief, she watched the interaction taking everything in afraid that they might have to leave, they greeted them standing quietly not wanting to mess anything up.
"Why did you come to us Jake Sully?" Tonowari asked the man, "we seek ulturu."
"Ulturu?" Ronal questioned Jake, "sanctuary for my family," he basically begged, "we are reef people. You are forest," the chief said look at the group as the women walked around them, "your skills will be nothing here."
"We will learn your ways," Jake was just begging at this point, it was embarrassing only to Elyä her mother taught her to never beg only hope.
"Their arms are thin," Ronal grabbed Tuk making the warrior glare at her as the youngest sully went to her father uncomfortable, "their tails are weak, you will be slow," she grabbed Kiri's tail if Elyä's glare could kill the women could be dead.
"These children are not even true Na'vi!" Ronal told the clan when she noticed the glaring Elyä, "you, you are a full one," the chiefs wife walked up to her grabbing her hands, the daughter of Tsu'tey stood uncomfortable taking her hand out of her tight grip, Neteyam glanced at the older women annoyed by how she's treating his family.
Then she walked over to Lo'ak who looked tired of this all already, "they have demon blood!" Elyä sighed her head pounding from this women tearing everyone up.
The clan gasped, "look! Look!" Jake held up his hand, "I was born to the sky people but now I'm Na'vi you can adapt," Toruk Makto told the reef people, "okay?" He sighed tiredly.
"My husband was Toruk Makto," Neytiri started as he cringed not wanting a fight to break out, "he led the clans to victory against the sky people," she glanced to Tonowari.
"You call this victory? Hiding amongst strangers it seems like Eywa turned to back on you," Elyä looked up in shock at what the women just said and glanced to Neteyam who looked just as shocked.
Neytiri hissed at Ronal hissing back, the husbands of the two women just glanced at each other speaking with their eyes in a way.
"I apologize for my mate," Jake started just wanting somewhere safe for his family, "do not apologize for me," Neytiri said staring at her husband, "she's exhausted-" he was stopped again, "Jake," she hissed.
The two women just walked away from each other when Tonowari came into the dead conversion, "Toruk Makto is a great warrior! All the Na'vi people know his story, but we are Metkayina and we are not at war."
All hope the children had slowly wilted away, Jake lifted Tuk up holding her tightly, "but we can not let you bring your war here."
"We are not at war," Jake told him, "okay, I just want to keep my family safe," Elyä stared at the two hoping they would take them in even if it's for a little while.
The two Metkayina had a small conversation with their eyes, "ulturu has been asked," Neytiri said holding herself, "sh it's okay," he told his daughter holding her lightly.
"Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us," he commanded his voice booming.
"Treat them as our brothers and sisters. They do not know the sea, so they will be like babies taking their first breath teach them our ways so they do not suffer the shame of being useless," he told his clan commanding them all.
Elyä glanced at Neteyam happily, "Nete we have a new home now!" She smiled to him excited and happy they don't have to leave again.
"What do we say?" Jake looked down at Tuk who stared at the man, "thank you," she said to him in her cute voice, "thank you," the family all said to the clan.
"My son Ao'nung our daughter Tsireya will show your children what to do," Tonowari told them as the kids nodded.
"Father why?" The son asked annoyed not wanting to help them.
"Come, I'll show you our village!" Tsireya told the family, "I like her," the raven haired teenager told her best friend still holding his hand not really wanting to let go.
HOLDING ALL THEIR STUFF as they headed to their new home was frightening but Tuk was having a blast, she jumped holding her stuff smiling at an animal laughing lightly at it, "Tuk let's go," Elyä told her grabbing her hand walking to their new home.
"Just up here," the chiefs daughter smiled continuing to walk calmly through the village.
Tuk jumped still holding tightly onto Elyä's hand who chuckled at the little girl, Neteyam glanced at the two smiling brightly before looking at their new home.
"This is for you, your new home," Tsireya smiled at the family putting down the bags she grabbed.
"This will work, it's nice right?" He asked his family looking at them all raising an eyebrow, what Neytiri was holding made a loud thump as she sighed hinting it's okay not home but okay.
Elyä set her stuff up a empty space left near her when Neteyam walked over, "hey!" He grinned putting his stuff down near hers, "hey," she smiled still doing what she was doing before not even bothered by him setting up near her.
Slowly the sun started to set creating a orange and pink hue across the sky like a canvas being painted.
"Okay sully's fall in," Jake said to everyone in the hut, "remember? family meeting!" Neteyam grabbed his brother making him sit.
The teenage girl chuckled into her hand at the interaction, "okay, I need you kids on your best behavior." Jake commanded hoping to get it through their thick skulls.
"I mean it." He continued to go on, "learn fast, pull your weight."
It felt like he was talking to a squad not a family, it was boring, Elyä zoned out letting the sound of the waved hitting each other being a new sense of comfort over her, "don't cause trouble, got it?" She zoned back in to see him staring right at Lo'ak.
"Yes sir," he voiced back to him not wanting to get yelled at again.
"I want to go home," Tuk said suddenly tears falling down her cheeks, "oh Tuk," the older woman said staring at her daughter in concern also feeling the same.
"Tuk. this is our home now," he grabbed her hand messing with it lightly, "we're gonna get through this, we're gonna get through this if we have each other's backs, right?"
"What does your father say?" Neytiri asked her kids, "Sully's stick together," they all voiced except Elyä having not really been a Sully it felt like she was intruding, it was the worst feeling of all. Jake glanced at her noticing the silence from her, he nodded his head to his goddaughter in a way saying you are a Sully and you always will be.
They did it again this time with Elyä joining in not ready for what the rest of the day has prepared for them.
How could you fear a place you want to call home?
