Crack! (Analogince)

Roman felt a painful pang in his chest, seeing Virgil and Logan so happy should make him happy, right? No, he was jealous. Jealous and heartbroken. He turned away, his chest aching for him to turn back and confess.

Logan noticed Roman out of the corner of his eye. Seeing him made Logan nervous, made him feel bad. He knew Roman had feelings for Virgil, and he knew Virgil returned those feelings. He felt for both of them too, but he was easily jealous and incredibly possessive. Virgil was his now, he had worked up the courage first and he deserved to reap the reward.

Roman fell onto his bed, not even noticing the spider web of cracks and breaks stemming from the corners of the ceiling. He felt surges of pain crash over him in waves, so bad that he reached into his drawer and pulled out a bottle of painkillers. He took two and waited for the pain to ebb until he could fall asleep.

The next morning, Roman didn't get up. He was awake, and he could move, but the pain in his chest kept him glued to the bed. He lay on his back, staring at the ceiling that continued to crack above him and thinking about how happy Virgil and Logan had looked. How that faint blush tinged Virgil's cheeks and that flustered smile pulled at the corners of his lips. And Logan too, how Logan played nervously with his hands, how his eyes stayed open just a moment longer when he kissed Virgil.

Roman managed to get up that day, despite his legs shaking and aching, imploring him to stop and sit. The next day, however, Roman barely managed to drag his aching body to the bathroom he was so pained. Logan noticed this and got more and more worried each day.

The third day spelled something bad, Roman could barely breathe he was in so much pain. He staggered the four meters to his bookshelf, panting from the pain that rippled through every part of his body. He picked up a book and stumbled back to bed, sitting propped up on his pillows to read. The entire book proved useless, aside from the very last chapter.

"All sides will suffer physical repercussions in case of heartbreak and jealousy, although the latter will have a harsher effect on the core of emotions (morality), the former will cause extreme physical pain to all excluding logic. It is worth noting that a combination of the two will cause extreme pain regardless of role and causes a 75% chance of death in sides correlated to strong emotional bonds (morality and creativity)"

There. On paper, right in front of him. Roman read the paragraph again. In an actual book, written and certified by none other than Logan -as was obvious by his name on the cover-. Roman only had a 25% chance of survival. He felt tears on his cheeks as he read on.

"Creativity in particular will have an even lower chance of survival should the feelings be long lasting romantic feelings, and should immediately seek help from the respective logic in order to ease these feelings. It is my unfortunate duty to warn that, past the two day mark, the only cure would be to obtain a true sign of affection returned in the same calibre as one's own. Past the five day mark, any side suffering this level of heartbreak has no chance of survival unless their body should go into a comatose state (an uncommon occurrence.)"

Roman felt and heard a crack, from his ribcage. He tore off his shirt in a panic and saw a thin, black line. He touched it tenderly and it widened, extending further up and down his ribcage. The pain that washed over him was unbearable, and he cried out from it. The noise was deafening, and Roman felt his throat begin to ache. He had been screaming so long and loud that he shot his vocal cords.

Logan and Patton burst through the door, and Logan knew this sight all too well. "Fuck! I knew this would happen, why didn't I do something?!" Logan tenderly brushed the crack and, just as before, it spread outwards, causing Roman to twitch and shake from his barely conscious place on the bed. Virgil fell to Roman's side, tears streaked down his cheeks. " Lo? What's happening? "
"He's suffering from heartbreak, he likes you Virgil, and now you're his only hope."
" W-what do you mean? "
"The crack in his chest, he likes you romantically and unless you prove that you return those feelings, he will die." Logan mumbled, not tears in his face.

Virgil was taken aback. Logan was encouraging him to kiss Roman? And in front of him, no less? Virgil couldn't do it, he'd feel so bad. "I-I can't. Not with you here, not while I'm with you."
"Virge, I love him too, I love you and I love him just the same, for me? Please?" Logan begged, tears in his eyes. Virgil nodded, his lips parted and he leaned forward, kissing Roman steadily. Roman stirred, the crack withdrew, and for a moment Logan felt hopeful.

But Roman didn't wake up. He didn't stop crying, and the cracks in the ceiling didn't disappear. Logan felt a stab to his chest, and judging from Virgil's expression, he did too. Logan looked back at Roman. There was one thing they hadn't tried. Logan kissed Virgil, then leaned down to kiss Roman.

The pain eased, the moment his lips touched those of the man beneath him, Roman's body sagged and relaxed. Logan sighed and Virgil slumped tiredly. Logan pulled away to stare into Roman's eyes. Logan felt tears behind his glasses and he hugged Roman, pulling Virgil in with him.

Roman didn't understand how or why, but he was okay. He was alive and hugging the most beautiful men in the world. There was a sharp stab and Roman coughed. Logan looked down at Roman's chest and there was a heart tattoo. It was there, a blue and purple thick outline with a red centre. Logan looked on his own chest to see a blue heart with a red and purple outline. Virgil tugged his shirt down to expose a purple heart with a blue and red outline.

"Heh, we match."
" Yes, we do. "
"We do..."
