Shapeshifter
I sneak out in the morning, to go to my favorite field. I eagerly plop down in the grass and set the book in front of me. I see my bruises as I open the book. I suddenly get a flash of Baphomet in front of me, wounded. I see fire too, not green fire but red. I look down at the book, ready for what it'll say.
Good morning. The early bird gets the worm.
I smile at it.
Here's what you need to know about Baphomet. She's impossible to kill... that is, if you can't find her bones and burn them. This can only be done by a natural witch, which you happen to be. You're in luck.
My heart begins to race at the thought of finally defeating a centuries old witch.
Don't get too eager. I don't know where they are. You'll spend a lifetime trying to find them. It has been attempted before...
Are you strong enough?
Do you want it enough?
Can you be the one to break the rules to get what you want?
A challenge is coming your way. How bad do you want this?
The book stops, just when it was getting good. I head back and skip a little, feeling giddy. I can't believe I've done it. The bruises are worth it. When I get back, Sam and Dean are still asleep.
I walk to Dean's room, getting hypnotized by my happiness. He looks so peaceful when he's sleeping. He has a couple beers on his nightstand and lays with his arm hanging off the bed.
I sit outside his room in the hall, the cold floor against me. I wait for him to wake up so I can tell him the good news.
After a couple hours, I hear some movement in his room. He's completely dressed, which is strange to me.
"Oh. Hey." He seems different, but I don't mind. Maybe he's hungover.
"What's up, champ?" Okay. This is weird.
"Look! I had a breakthrough." He nods and walks with me, seemingly indifferent.
"You have to stop with that stupid book, Liz."
He never calls me Liz.
"But it told me that we just have to find her bones and burn them. It's easy peasy."
He still doesn't care. He seems like he's looking for something.
"Where's the book?" He looks at me seriously.
"In my room. I'll get it." Sam exits his room too. He looks tense, not like the Sam I know.
I get this weird feeling to check Dean's room. I approach the bed and see Dean passed out on the floor. He has blood on his head. I stash the book under his bed; they'll never look there.
I take a deep breath and search Dean's room for silver. I find a knife in his night stand, it's a small knife. I'll have to get pretty close to even use it. Never thought I'd be forced to kill Sam and Dean. I quickly exit the room so that they don't see me in there. As I'm walking back to the main area, Dean stands in front of me, blocking me.
"Give me the book."
"That's not going to happen, you freak." I bolt, running as fast as I can. I can hear him and Sam behind me as I desperately run to anywhere that'll keep me safe.
I feel myself being tackled from behind, hitting the ground hard on my stomach. It irritates my already existing bruises and I cry out in pain. Sam effortlessly flips me over onto my back.
"Where is the book?" I try to get my knife and he grabs my hand before I can stab him. He throws it across the room.
"The book." He strikes me in the face.
"You need me alive. And here's the thing, Sam and Dean are going to kill you if I don't." I laugh at him while turning my head to spit out the blood.
"You think they care about you?"
Sam leans closer to my face and I clench.
"They don't." He whispers to me.
He's such a giant man. How could I ever win?
"Move," Dean instructs Sam. I back away from him on the floor, pushing my feet. I hit a wall, with him standing over me. He picks me up by my arm and pushes me against the wall. This is closer to Sam and Dean than I've ever been and ever care to be. His body is against mine as he searches for the book.
"I'm not giving you the book and you won't get it." I knee him in the stomach and dive for the knife as he backs away.
"Get away. Away!" I shout while holding the knife in front of me.
They still advance towards me. Sam grabs me and throws me across the hall, and I hit another wall. I grip the knife tightly as I pretend to be unconscious.
"Get her. We're taking her." They each grab a leg and drag me while I'm on my stomach, waiting for the opportunity to pounce. They drag me over a step down and it takes the breath out of me. I flip over and stab Dean in the leg. I crawl away and stand up.
"Let's dance." I feel my body getting weak, but it's like Sam told me. When you're faced with death, you'd be amazed at your strength.
"Bitch." Dean says while coming towards me.
"Nothing is easy with you. That's why they hate you. They hope you die." Dean grabs me by the shirt and slams me on the table. I stab him in the heart and he falls onto me. I struggle underneath his body, desperately trying to get him off me before Sam gets to me. My efforts are in vein. Sam takes the knife from me and throws it once again.
He grabs me by the shirt, shoving Dean off me. He picks me up and throws me into a bookshelf, the same one I had drank the whiskey from. I stand.
"Give it up, you pathetic little girl."
I slam the glass whiskey container into his head and dart again. I see Sam close behind, his hair bouncing as he runs.
"Come here, kitty." He catches me and turns me towards him.
"No!" I scream. He slams me against the wall and wraps his hands around my neck.
"Sam hates you." He says as he chokes me. I feel him crushing my windpipe under his grip. I try to gasp for breath. He lets me go.
"I need you alive." He grabs my arm and I let him drag me limply. I gather my strength and this has to be worth it.
"No!" I scream again. I yank my arm away from him and kick him where every man never wants to be kicked.
I feel the pain setting in a bit under the adrenaline.
"I'm going to kill you and then I'm going to find your book. You're worthless." He comes towards me with fury in his eyes.
"Not going to happen." The real Dean steps out of his room and shoots him in the heart. I stand there breathless. Thank God.
I nearly collapse at how grateful I am. I quickly embrace him, almost tackling him in a hug. I begin to cry in his arms.
"What did we miss?" I hear Sam's voice behind me.
"It's okay," Dean looks down at me.
"It's okay, we're here." He gently rubs my back.
