Midnight Madness

I hear a faint flapping noise and feel a burst of wind from behind me. I turn around and a man with blue eyes stands, staring at me. "Cas.  What the hell?" Sam greets the man with a harsh attitude. The blue-eyed man stares at me. "I was busy." He speaks to them while looking at me.   "I am Castiel. Angel of the Lord." He steps forward, extending his hand to me.  I hesitantly shake his stiff hand. He gives me an artificial smile in return. As I am bringing my hand back to my body, a phone goes off. We all look at each other to see who it belongs to. "Must be one from the box." Sam and Dean follow the sound of the ringing phone as Castiel and I stand looking at each other. "Angels are real?" I fall back onto the bed. "Yes. I am quite real." He examines me just as I examine him, like he's looking for something. "Well, am I dead or something? Why are you here?"

"I am a friend of Sam and Dean's." This must be why Dad wanted me with them. They have a literal angel who can watch over me.

"Angels and demons in two days. What's next?  Satan himself?" I think out loud.  Castiel doesn't make me feel better, he just stands there, with his angelic presence, whatever that is.
Sam and Dean come back in the room and interrupt us.  I guess I was expecting wings and a harp. I wasn't expecting him to be so formal. I mean, I know that monsters manifest into human form because it's easier to blend in with their prey, from what I have experienced. But they always have something. Shapeshifters have the silver that they can't touch, vampires have the teeth, but this man has nothing as far as I know.
"Spam call." Sam and Dean enter the room.
"So. The gang is all here. Can someone explain to me what the hell is going on?" I grow impatient with the whole thing.
"Yes. You are a witch and demons want your power. They have sensed it from you just recently. Your dad was trying to protect you from knowing. Your mom made a deal with a powerful witch to keep your powers at bay. It came with the price of her soul. Now, she has been killed and you are on everyone's radar. The things you can do with witch power are infinite."
"I assure you, I'm no witch. You've made a mistake. They have all made a mistake."
I look at Sam and Dean for any sign of doubt to reassure me. No luck.
"How can I be a witch if I've never done a spell in my life? Aren't witches satan worshiping weirdos who cut themselves and wear eyeliner?"
"You're what's called a natural witch. You were born with power. It happens by the luck of the draw, like a prophet of the lord. The lord made a list of descendants who would be natural witches far before you were born. They were intended to help cage Lucifer." Castiel is laying a lot of information on me right now. I'm not sure I can handle all this.
Mom was protecting me. That's why she tried to kill me. She had no soul. She hated me for it.
"If I'm a witch, how come it hasn't come in handy for me? Am I supposed to be able to move shit with my mind? What's the deal here? Why do demons want me?"
"Your power is immense. You're the only natural witch in this century." Sam empathetically tries to explain it to me.
I stand, stumbling to the doorway. I catch myself on the door frame. "Give me a minute, guys."
I stumble out of the room. My mind feels sober now, but my body doesn't.
They don't come after me, surprisingly. They probably know very well that my life has changed significantly in the last 24 hours. I'm not sure how much more I can handle without having cardiac arrest. Maybe that's a bit dramatic, but still. I'm entitled to a little dramatics right now.
I slide down the wall in the hallway, my shirt catching on the tiles as I make my way to sit on the floor. After a couple minutes, Sam comes to me. I notice already that he's going to be my rock during all this. He lets a shallow sigh escape his body. He takes a seat next to me and looks at the wall a bit before speaking.
"You know, it's okay to be different. There was a time when I was different. I had visions and it scared the hell out of me. The visions would tell me when someone was going to die."
He scoffs, "Hell, Lucifer possessed me because of the darkness inside me. I had gone on drinking demon blood. I've felt like a freak. There was a time when I thought Dean would kill me because of what I had become."
I look at him, "I have visions too sometimes. They're not super detailed or anything." I feel myself sobering up, finally.
"I'm going to make a beer run. Are you guys hungry?" Dean interrupts us.
"Yeah." Sam responds. He places a hand on my knee and taps it briefly before standing up. I stand up too.
"I think I'm going to call it a night if that's alright."
I pretend like I'm tired, but I don't sleep at all.
I lie away all night, staring at the ceiling. Sam and Dean are fast asleep in the other rooms and I am wide awake. I begin to feel guilty that they feel like I'm their burden. I wonder how long it will be before they discard me and I'm out there in this big world by myself. It's bound to happen.
